thanks alot for this, i certainly need the sheetmusic for this. I have been trying the Barrueco version but i never really got it right. Alot of open strings and different tones for the melody line, looks like this fingering and string choice is more up my sleeve

@@ClassicalGuitarCorner thanks for your reply, i got the copy. Never used a Tab sheet before but its very usefull👍🏻. So i have the Barueco version and this one, in some cases i like this one better than the other, could i make a mix or would that not be wise

A very thorough explanation of the score and how to play this arrangement.
However, although most guitarists play this version of the sonata, the original score has a different baseline and different harmonies in many places. This is important because Scarlatti's harmony was very influenced by the Spanish and flamenco sonorities which use the Phrygian mode and so I find this classical arrangement too tame compared to the more florid harpsichord score. I believe that if the chord texture was thicker by including the suspensions written in the original score, the tension and plaintive character of this piece would be better served.

An appoggiatura on a dotted note in baroque music normally takes two thirds of the written value. Appoggiatura on a dotted crotchet becomes a crotchet (quarter) dissonance and a quaver (eighth) resolution. So it may have been written out to avoid confusion with acciaccature, but it has been written out wrongly as a quaver followed by a crotchet. :(

These things are well-known and documented conventions. Admittedly it would sound odd if taken literally, in this context, against the crotchet bass line. A more pleasing solution than either of these rigid proportions would be to resolve the appoggiatura as a syncope just before the fourth crotchet, as if the resolution were a grace before the beat.
Correction: acciaccatura is the wrong term, both in the above comment and video. The proper baroque acciaccatura is not played quickly in passing. It is played simultaneously with another note, usually a minor second and almost immediately let go so that only the consonant continues sounding. Baroque lute and harpsichord music is riddled with these dissonances. Guitarists, oblivious to basic musicological facts and content to imitate each other, almost never get such things right.
