Fryette Power Station vs Torpedo Live - quick comparison with Celestion Speaker Mix Pro

  • Here's a quick comparison between these two loadboxes.
The fryette offers much more configurations with two tooggle switches, one for presence and one for resonance.
I took two different references with my ditto, clean and dirty.
It's a "boring" test but I'd say it could be usefull to understand how the voicing switches on the fryette behave.
    Gear used:
Fender Stratocaster Am Standard 2000 (Lindy Fralin Vintage Hot)
Gibson Les Paul Standard 2004 (burstbucker pro)
Dr Z Maz 18 Jr Reverb mkI 2016
    Fryette Power Station 2
    Two Notes Torpedo Live
Celestion Speaker Mix PRO (blue, greenback, g12H DRSs)
    Waves CLA76 plugin
    FabFilter Pro Q3 plugin

Torpedo sounds more compressed at higher gain. Not saying that's a bad thing, just what it sounded like to me. Thanks for the demo.

I didn't listen with headphones, so this may be what I need to do.....but I think the Two Notes sounded just as good as the Fryette, based on what I heard coming out of my computer speakers....Keep in mind that the Tw Notes software also allows you to tweak the EQ, and that could also make up an differences......Thanks! :)

Well I'd say every speaker will sound different and above all personal taste it's not objective. I've had the live for three years but to me the fryette is one of the best piece of gear I ever had. Set, game, match. Of course the reamp function plays a big role in my overall opinion

@@lorenzo-marra Ok good to know because I am waning to replace my Suhr Reactive Load with a Fryette PS, so that I get both the "load" with some EQ switcher, as well as a power amp for re-amping!
BTW, Do you like the Two Notes Live?......or would the Fryette be better, along with maybe a Two Notes CABM for the IR's?

@@ian1eh944 well, the live is still a great piece of gear but as a simple load box I do prefer the fryette, especially with celestion DSRs. However, torpedo products are great, I still own a torpedo captor and a torpedo cab I use with satisfaction with a clean amp, in that case the - 20dB out of the captor it's enough for home use. The reamp of the power station allowed me to play my studio vintage 20 in its sweet spot and that amp is freaking loud, as a plexi should be!

Decisamente, q/p imbattibile a mio avviso
