I remember the ford 9700 from my youth in the 80's. This tractor made a screaming agressive powerfull sound and we always ran to the street when we heard him coming in the distance. It was always a spectacular moment when this tractor passed.😀👍
We bought the exact tractor in 1977. I was farming with my dad at the time. I sold it after years of running it and it is still running today with the 2nd owner. Great Tractor.
I learned to drive a tractor on a 9600 ford when I was 7 years old. Dad would fork chopped grass off a flat deck wagon to the milk cows while I drove around in the pasture. Of course I couldn't push in the clutch but I could turn off the key. The first time he let me drive out through the gat I broke off a fence post. That was over 40 years now and I still love tractors today. Now to teach my grandkids.
I grew up in Ag from cattle ranching to row crop to pasture, to prarie haying, to orchards. We had a lot of brands of tractors; John Deere, Ford, Case, International, Farmall. I worked at a Ford tractor dealership when in college in the late 60's and early 70's, and I fell in love with the US 5000 general purpose. Sold a bunch of them, and got to demo and deliver: what a thrill for a farm boy. My next Ford down the line (not discounting the Jubalee) was the 6000 Ford with the select-o-speed 10 speed shift on the go. Loved seeing the 9700 at work, that monster can out after i had graduated and married.. Nice video, love the Fords!
Ford built some great long lasting tractors. Growing up my neighbor had a dairy with a 9000, 7000 and two 5000s. I always enjoy featuring Ford tractors.
My Dad traded an AC 7000 for this in 78, we had the daul power, loved it. I felt like a boss driving down the road when I was 12 and kicking in the dual power. Man I put a lot of hours on it. Sold it at farm auction in 2008 and it still ran great.

That's a tractor from my youth. The farmer I worked for had a B-I-L that was a Ford dealer so he naturally ran Ford tractors. I sure miss the days when Ford made tractors and wish they had never gotten out of the business. IMO, the 8000/9000 and 8600/9600 were the best looking tractors Ford ever made.

We have a 7000 that dad bought new when I was 7. Forty-five yrs. later it's still at work, putting about 4K bales of haylage on the wrapper each yr. Front end had to be re-engineered by my brother yrs. ago to handle heavy loader work. It's very reliable and just keeps going!

7710 series 2 two wheel drive would be my all time favorite ford tractor with tge 8630 power shit being a very close second spent alot of hours in both models
The driver is making the stetches far to wide in my opinion which means a lot of compaction on the headland plus the plow is out of the ground to long on each turn, other than that great video. All the very best, Kevin Fox,England Essex.
Like to know what the cover crop was they were plowing under. I've pulled a DMI 5-bottom Veri-width plow before. Pulled it with Allis Chalmers 7060. That soil must be awful light or sandy up there. Here in central Indiana it is heavier soil. AND it never pulled that easy! WOW! I do miss plowing though.
@@russelljhoffman Looked like winter missed killing alot of it. Have a field near me of Tuff grass. Winter killed it dead flat. What they were plowing under will definitely help the soil.

7710 series 2 two wheel drive would be my all time favorite ford tractor with tge 8630 power shit being a very close second spent alot of hours in both models
That is a very nice setup!

That plow is buryi8ng all the grass really well.
Keeping a straight line without auto steer, A dying skill
The driver is making the stetches far to wide in my opinion which means a lot of compaction on the headland plus the plow is out of the ground to long on each turn, other than that great video.
All the very best,
Kevin Fox,England Essex.
Long turn arounds mean less dead furrows in the field.
We have a Ford 4,000 that we use for taking bales and it’s pretty fun to run
Like to know what the cover crop was they were plowing under. I've pulled a DMI 5-bottom Veri-width plow before. Pulled it with Allis Chalmers 7060. That soil must be awful light or sandy up there. Here in central Indiana it is heavier soil. AND it never pulled that easy! WOW! I do miss plowing though.
It a mixture of rye, hairy vetch, plus some yellow blossom sweet clover, mammoth red clover and a few other thing that likely winter killed.
@@russelljhoffman Looked like winter missed killing alot of it. Have a field near me of Tuff grass. Winter killed it dead flat. What they were plowing under will definitely help the soil.
Thank you Russell. Great tractor to feature.
Ford 861 Powermaster - would love to see this tactor in a video!
There's a push to get back to simpler style farming with lower inputs but better returns
