Hi James, Thanks for the videos. I am driving quite a bit (5k miles so far) but still cannot understand medium-length slip roads on the hihways. Very short ones requrie you waiting at the start before the gap. Long ones allow getting to 60-70 mph easily and join the traffic without any issues. On medium ones I start accelerating, get to ~40-45 on the 3rd gear and find myself simply pushing my way into the traffic (fortunately, I was always allowed in). There is little way ot assessing the gap in advance beause the visibility is low at the begining of the lane -90 deg bend behind buildings or trees; there is little space to accelerate. how to handle these better?
Thanks for your kind comment. I agree, short slip roads are tricky. I think it’s a cost thing. So much easier with longer slip roads. The slip roads with bends need you to approach at a safe speed and try and build your speed up quickly coming out of bend.
On the exit lane you should be slowing down. But if you are say going right at the end of the exit lane(deceleration lane) and the car on your left Is doing slower than you then that should be ok.
@JamesTravis so you go back on 4th exit, turn around where you come from and then take the first exit..? Thanks for your vids James. If you can make a vid highlighting this that would be great
@@boyking1111 I miss understood what you asked. If you miss your exit on a motorway you drive to the next exit off the motorway and come back. If you miss your exit on a roundabout, you can go round back on yourself as long as you can do this safely.
A debate about exiting a motorway and the problem of speed perception. I was taught from motorbike days to change down the gears and break to avoid going too fast. Because your perception of speed is not good after a long journey at 70mph. This is the safest way to exit a motorway, keeping your eyes on the road and your ears will alert you if you are going too fast. Aim to arrived at yield or stop sign in 2'nd gear.

I need help regarding driving in a motorway. Is it allowed to go faster and overtake vehicles when you're on the exit lane?
On the exit lane you should be slowing down. But if you are say going right at the end of the exit lane(deceleration lane) and the car on your left Is doing slower than you then that should be ok.

The vehicles which keep going on the highway
@@catalinzota1958 if you are in lane to come off then you will be ok in UK to do that.
I would not chance it just incase they decide to change lanes without checking.
