"Why does the camera say "1988" on it's timestamp when Adam has a smartphone?"
The film is set in 2018 hence the title card at 1:14. The camera says 1988 because it hasn't been powered up since then, not because the film is set in 1988. The whole "1988" thing is a reference to "Paranormal Activity 3" which was set in that year.
"Is this film real?"
The film is fictional. It's based on a film series made by Paramount with the same name.

This is really good. The aspect of seeing the spirit's silhouette is super Erie. The way you had the ending written out was also incredibly creepy. When you finish this I have no doubt in my mind that it will be the most creepy paranormal activity film.
The vibes from this is insane. I can smell a manifestation of Micah from this one. Full of potential, Adam.
You really did an amazing job with this. My only suggestion is yo play around with the conversation a bit to make the characters sound authentic and like an actual convo. Dan should be more animated than deadpan.
Other than that, this is a solid classic that will age heavily well on TH-cam. Cheers, Bruv! 😃😃

I was the same way with my Grandparents house but for some reason it would only try to get my attention, appearing before me, making noises when no one else was home but me, it would even take my stuff for days and it would appear in a place I know I didn't put it. I'm glad I ain't there no more either.

I really enjoyed this! I agree with the comments below - please finish it and do a sequel. I love the PA movies, especially the first 3, and you do a great job building on that legacy. I did wonder why Adam didn't tell Dan about the note, which is the most paranormal thing in the whole movie. I caught the reference in the note, though, and I look forward to seeing where you go with that. I'm betting the date on the VHS camera is no coincidence, either. 😉

I am not afraid conjuring, incidious, annabelle, the nun movies. These documentary movies are real scary. 😮 these is real thriller movies. After film ended cant imagine is it only movie? 😮
I with you on these movies but 1, Annabelle had a weird feel to it, I don’t k ow which one but there’s a scene in an apartment and a girl/ghost runs to the woman, for whatever reason that shook me?! 🤷♀️ I closed my laptop amd had to take a minute before going back and watching the remainder of the movie! There was just something in that scene that rattled me and I don’t know why. The conjuring, well let’s say I laid in bed looking at the top of my wardrobes for a while! 😂 But yeah, the documentary type ones seem to be the ones that have you on the edge of the seat.

When I was a kid, the house I lived in had some paranormal activity and it wasn't scary like it is in the movies. Guess our ghosts were mellow. Lol. I thank God we never had to deal with dark entities.
Thankfully films like these are usually exaggerated from what you might encounter in real life :)

It was created using a shadow png imported from google, with transparency and a blur added 🙂 To make it move along with the rotating camera, I used keyframes in Sony Vegas Pro 😂

At the beginning the date said it was 1988 on the camera but he has flat screen t.v and Skype on computer lol
Ah yes! I probably should have made it more clear, but the film is set in 2018! The 1988 date on the camera was implying that it hadn't been turned on since then (referencing Paranormal Activity 3). At 20:24 , Dan questions why the date is wrong :)

It would get worse regardless. Demons are in it for the chaos and for a soul they can possess to wreak more chaos and death. They work on you until you give in and that's when they have you where they want you.

the camera that was used was an old camera so the date on the recording olso old and he did not know how to set 5he date on the recording and just let it be

The sound quality is very poor. Brings the whole thing down, IMO. It's bad enough that there's that tired old VHS schtick being played out... >sigh< Sorry, man, there's a lot to like, but it's unnecessarily hard to get at.

This is great, Please keep filming it and finish it. Got to admit I'd love to know where the old camera come into it, I got a little confused when Dan started to talk about the clock and no mention was made of the camera turning up the way it did.

the camera came from Mika, Katies man, from Pa 1, who dropped it off, don't know, but I love the PA franchise, and watch all of them when they are available.
and before it came to Mika, Katy's mom and dad had it, in PA 3.

In England we generally have 1-floor small flats, 2-3 floor attached houses, 2-3 floor semi-detached houses and 2-3 floor fully detached houses. The house in the film is a semi detached house, meaning it has one house joined to it but no house on the other side! 😀

In this film suposly was true to me no.1.the papers inside the bowl easily could be a small fan..2.if u look at thr place first he has to go down the step n if u see out side was like a dresser out side the door.about the investigator was to fast n look they know each other why what ever it is would want to move lamps. About light on and off any one could have done it there many stuff any one could done it in one hwsais done move till I come back

absolutely only my opinion, but finish the film as it was rather descent but the character 'Dan" needs to change his clothes more often. jeans, i understand, most are generally dark and someone could have several dark pairs of them. Dan wears the same pair of biege pants in the three scenes that he appears in. thank you for listening

Im making a paranormal activity fan film as well. I'm using Imovie, and it has allowed me to do everything i needed, except one thing that every paranormal activity movie needs. The timestamp in the bottom right of the screen, Imovie doesnt have the option for that, and i dont want to type every second onto every frame. I know after effects has the timestamp as an option, but i dont want to pay for it just to add something so small. How did you add the time stamp to your movie?
Hiya, I actually used Sony vegas pro for the editing on this. I did the timer by using text boxes and manually putting in every second. It’s easier on vegas, trust me 😂 Have a look at my “Paranormal Activity 3” camera timer test”. I’ve been thinking about making a tutorial if that would be useful to you!

This was very well written, acted, directed, and I especially liked the pace. However, tell me WHY is it that in these types of movies they set up cams BUT NEVER VIEW THE FOOTAGE OF THE ENTITIES, just a bit in the beginning then not so much? And why is it that u did this thing whereas, slap these paragraphs of happenings, where you DONT SHOW the scenes only make us read about it? This, for me is jolting. Takes me from FORGETTING ITS ALL a script being scred and forces me to read a scene u didnt create. This last paragraph made me feel ripped off. Sorry but it's the truth

Sorry about the last scene, the reason was because by the time we got around to filming it, we were both really busy with college and work. Now that we actually have the time to film, the time of year means it's too light in the evenings to film a "dark" scene unless we filmed at like 10pm 😅 Hopefully this makes sense to you, thanks for the feedback!
