I think it is done by poking it into the skin a little bit the same spot every day for a long period of time, and slowly you starting pushing it in a little further every time, which is slowly creating a passage through the hand/arm/foot/wherever you want to do it.. And after some time you will be able to push it all the way through without doing any damage to your mother, that giant cow! It is still a very dangerous act though, and it requires A LOT of time, pain and dedication.
He admits on Joe Rogan that he's just missing all the tendons, and there's no real damage, it heals quickly. But he had to stop because of nerve damage
David Blaine is amazing but props to the plastic surgeon who allowed Blaine to do this and the make-up artists who do him up every time he does this stunt!

But he forces them to count them in a silly way (by flipping over and placing them on the bottom) that way they get to the 3 cards that he placed in there and they think there is only 10 cards. Then he forces the woman to chose the 3 card. When the guy is then counting the cards to see if there is now 13, David stops him at 10 and touches the deck and says "there is the original 10", during that touch he adds 7 cards. they count the next 3 and they think it is only 13. The guy now places 20 cards in his pocket (although he thinks its only 13) and the woman chooses a number, 5, and then Lars picks a 2 in order to make it add up to 7. (this is the only part i am not sure on, i believe he needs an accomplice to pick the second number ensuring they add up to 7).

I can do this thing. What you said is partially true. You can't just poke it anywhere you want. We, magicians normally poke it in the hand in a specific area where there are no veins or anything like that. But I can only do it with smaller needles and I only poke it halfway thru. I get really scared and just abort continuing all the way thru
