this no re-read rule seems quite natural until I realized that I will likely have Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde on my list for 2024 even though I read it as a child :) it turns out some re-reads are really good
Oh also, I read Bloodchild by Octavia Butler. She prefaces the introduction stating she's not a short story writer, but the stories were sublime and poignant.
I'm really glad i found this channel. I dont like reading but your reviews are so good that it makes me want to read, especially the #8 book. Now that one sounds like it would be really cool to read!
Outlaw Bookseller did a nice piece about the Valis thematic trilogy. He noted that "Radio Free Albemuth," which is outside the trilogy, is an excellent precursor book to Valis and is an alternate version, a more conventional telling of the same story with a thriller-style plot. It would be interesting to read both to see the similarities and differences between them, especially since each are considered great books by Dick.
I thought Never Let Me Go was overrated. But Ishiguro's Remains of the Day is my favorite of all time. The subtlety in that book and what's implied without being said, a masterpiece of British fiction. I know it's been a year, but have you read Benjamin Labatut's books? The Maniac was highly anticipated, but I preferred "When We Ceased to Understand the World."
It's hard to say I have a mix of everything. What I can say is if it has a slip case it is folio society. All the rest are just what I find at used book stores.
I did like Ender's Game, but the rest of the series didn't work for me. However, I like Ender's Shadow more than Ender's Game. That is the offshoot series following Bean at the same time Ender's Game is happening.
Idk I get so many credits that I can the buy a license to use certain stock images or music from Adobe and that is one I licensed. I think for me it's just called 80s synthwave. I have been using it a lot lately though.
totally binging your content now. Thank you so much for your opinions. You are helping me build-up and flesh-out my TBR. Keep it coming :)
