I am from Guwahati . Everybody in Assam close their temples for 3 days in a year because Maa gets period during this time. After 3 days we wash every single stuff of our home and do puja. we worship Maa Kamakhya. I am one of devotee. Whether you believe or not, it is the most powerful temple . You go and share your problems, I am assuring you'll get all solutions.
Why? Because Period is Impure?? 🤨🤨 PEOPLE LIKE YOU HAVE HYPOCRITE MENTALITY 😐😐
You know what please go to a Library or simply watch educational TH-cam videos to study the human anatomy especially, female reproductive system and the importance of period because of which your mother gave birth to a Hypocrite person like you who calls himself so call educated and follows traditional blindly, you have even not spared goddess Sati also from your judgemental & hypocrite thoughts....
Note that period is not at all mentioned Impure in Sanatana Dharma, where as it is described as a beautiful part of reproduction process of a human. But people like you make it look dirty & impure and act like it's a sin to have period for women.... A BIG SHAME ON YOU HYPOCRITE MENTALITY!!

I am an assamese girl I also visit kamakhaya temple recently . it's give you very devotional and pure feeling when you visit the temple. @@thetree7694 off course, This is a Big temple as you know. It was built more then 1000 years ago. Exact date is not known yet. Mythology, it was believe that lord Shiva's Wife body was cut into 17 parts by Lord Vishnu. And all the 17 parts was fallen in different locations. So this part was fallen on this site, thus Kamakhya Temple was built.

I visited and worshipped Maa Kamakhya when I was on a trip to Meghalaya, before I could know the mahima of Devi Kamakshya I was astonished we got two good news, then after coming back I listened about Devi Kamakshya Shakti on every aspect of people life. I am from Assam and this is the story in our household about Kamakhya temple. The temple was built by Narakasura. He wanted to marry Maa Kamakhya but she put a condition that a temple should be setup on a hill with staircase leading to it for devotees. The work needs to be done in one night before the dawn, i.e. before cocks crow. Narakasura had completed half the staircase from the bottom but she tricked him by making a cock crow before dawn. This is such an enchanting story from our childhood.
Love from Guwahati, Assam. Our king Naranarayan (koch Rajbangshi) rebuilt this great temple in 1500-1600 year. In the month of June Mela called Ambubachi Mela where many people visit this temple. 🇮🇳

Some of the old history books are there to prove this . The epigraphic evidence and scriptures were made under the leadership of CHILARAI, commender and chief of Koch Dynasty Army. And then some changes were made under AHOM Dynasty.
Our king Naraka (Kalita) was a aashiq of Maa Kaamakhya. He built the temple in one night. But, he was cheated and then he became asur (Narakasura)
If I am not wrong, Arjun also visited Kamkhya Devi mandir during his exile and prayed for victory in the coming battle of Mahabharata. He met one of his wives, Princess Chitrangada.
Chitrangada is from Manipur, one of the sister states of North East.

Being grown up in NE, I've visited kamakhya temple 10 times since childhood. It is so powerful and mysterious. Yes, i saw a group of men in red clothes chanting mantra behind the temple. I came to know they were tantric sadhaks!

People keep a very wrong impression about maa Kamakhya mandir that all tantrics and aghories keep roaming here and there. It is not like that. They may be there but not very open to all public. I am from Assam and we keep visiting Kamakhya mandir for Maa's blessings but I have never encountered with any such tantriks. Here we have pure devotion for Maa Aadi Shakti (power).

I stayed in the foothill of Nilachal hills, my parental place. We used to use the original road to the temple , just 15 to 20 min walk from our place. It has a different energy , also on Diwali night I love sitting in the temple premises and the feeling is out of the world.

Why are all these Mas and such temples only in India. Also the divine should be in our heart. We should worship Him or Her in spirit, quietly in our heart and not in some state ( like woman getting periods etc)

MAA KAMAKYA is very powerful i been visited three times but one incidents i never forget i went temple for the first time with one of my friend , we completed our puja and all but coming back to home i was not satisfied my mind and heart every thing is their only i just want to go back there spent some more time , in evening i was just chilling alone near by rented houses i met my friend whome i never expected and rarely talk , we just greet each other , suddenly he asked for a favour, he said i wanted to visit MAA KAMAKYA temple i dont know the route can you come along with me ,without a second thought i said yes bhaad mei jai college and i was there very next morning and after reaching there l feels like my mind and soul everything is controlled feels like i m in deep meditation, so calm and peaceful and same time so powerful, literally i can feel the energy, from that day i never met that friend again , he is alive but never get in touch. It is not just a co incident.

In Kamakhya there is no Idol worship.
There are Tantriks , or tantrik practitioner, there are women who are also into tantrik practices but you will not find them putting on a typical cloth and roaming there. They have families and others occupation as well. Some of them are very philosophical. I am from Kamakhya so I know what's in there.
The only one thing one of the Tantrik asked me to do is to read the Mahanirvana Tantra, to understand it and then start the journey of sadhana when I am mentally and spiritually matured enough to seek that level of wisdom.
