We stayed in a rainforest lodge in Peru 🇵🇪

  • As part of our superb Peru tour with GAdventures, we visited the amazing Tambopata Eco Lodge for 2 nights, led by our friendly, well informed guide, Leo.
We stayed in a bungalow with no electricity and solar heated shower, which might sound a bit rustic but was actually lovely. Well equipped with a real bathroom, flushing toilet, real beds and mosquito nets, table, chairs and hammock!
The restaurant served excellent, fresh buffet food and in the bar you could buy an ice-cold beer in the evening while they ran the generators for a couple of hours until blackout. After this all you could see were fireflies!
We did a night wildlife walk on the first evening, taking strong advice to tuck trousers into socks to stop ants crawling into socks/shoes. Then the second morning we did an early morning explore, spotting wildlife all the way.
This was an awesome experience, really well prepared, really well guided, yet still felt like miles from civilisation!

Thank you for this. It was nice to see a video of the rainforest from a couples perspective that didn't have 15 mins of the two of you talking into the camera. Great choice of music, great job.

+Lyrebird Hi there, thanks for the feedback. Really appreciate it. I thought everybody liked loads of talking and commentary. This was such an amazing holiday I think I was just so blown away by everything I forgot to talk anything through.
The guides were amazing, and facilities and food at the lodge were really good. Hopefully you get the picture. Are you thinking of doing this trip yourself?
Check out my Inca Trail video if you like great scenery from South America 🇵🇪

@@christianluff I'm looking for things to do when I go in 2021. How could I do something similar to your vacation?

+Matilda Carlén Thanks Matilda, we sure did. It was an amazing experience. We did the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu on the same tour (short and long versions of my video on my YT channel). I’ll check your video out to see how our holidays compared! Thanks! CHRIS

I'm delighted to hear you went in August as that's when i'm going too and I was a bit worried about the weather as I believe it is entering the Peruvian winter. Seeing the lovely weather you seem to have had is great to see! Hopefully I have similar sunny weather!

Loved your video! I'm going with my grand daughter (11) next May - 2018. I am thinking of a GAdventure tour for 3 nights, 4 days for the guides. But perhaps each lodge has guides? Did you take a tour?

+bonnie lee Hi Bonnie - wow, you're an amazing grandma! We had a Peru multi-centre tour, going to Lima, Cisco, Inca Trail (see my other videos - there's a short 4 minute on and a long 40-odd minute version). I'm not sure how you would book to stay somewhere like this and get guides as required, but I'd expect it can be done. We had a single GAdventures tour rep who joined us throughout, only handing over to guides for the trial itself. we were rarely unaccompanied but in a good way. We travelled from Lima to Puerto Maldonado on an internal flight, then were were joined by a fantastically friendly and knowledgeable guide, Leo who knew the forest inside-out and kept us safe and entertained. Let me know if you have any other question - I remember this trip like it was yesterday. :-)

two nights with no electricity...how did you survive ?

    • @christianluff
      @christianluff  2 ปีที่แล้ว

It was really good, not a problem. there was a limited time each night where they’d run the generator and you could charge phones and cameras before lights out!

Sorry to disagree with the guides, but that was in no way a "wolf spider".

+joe green I can’t stand spiders - he could’ve called it anything and I would have nodded and swiftly moved on! 😁🕷 Are you a spider fan?
