Katie, I had a spirit dog named'Princess'. We went EVERYWHERE together. I lived in a small city and we used to walk to the river on a weekly basis. We had a park too and I used to take her there all time. There would be nobody there in the winter and I would bring a ball and throw it for her for hours. I took her to a brook often and she would go nuts at the shore and dig at the sand and I threw a stick in the water, she was such a good swimmer!! She was beautiful, part german shepherd, part miniature greyhound. We were so close, besties!!❤️
The Brian/Katie team does it again 🤩 you pulled the office together and it looks GREAT!! There is always trail and error in decorating and appreciate that you don’t gloss over that and always keep it real.

Brian’s office looks great! Sometimes decorating doesn’t always work out the way you planned- but that’s ok! In our 41 years of marriage, we have changed things around, remodeled, repainted-whew it can be never ending, styles change but finally you find the decor and style you love! The office looks nice. Don’t beat yourself about the paint job, sometimes we need to pivot but it looks great on video. It’s fun watching you two as this reminds me of my husband and I 22 years ago when were also expecting our little one. We decorated and had fun with our first place. All these years later oh tastes have changed but its fun to compromise. I am driving him a bit crazy with Christmas this year. I lost my Mom to Covid last year December and I am trying to find the joy of the holiday again after a tough year. I love reading books and watching videos. I have been enjoying your videos very much. Best wishes for your little one and your happy family

Ok I love how realistic you are with the painting part. How many people act like it’s the best idea to paint IKEA furniture? Maybe it depends on the piece? But this should be shared more often!! Love all the details in his office with the tree decorations and that runner over the new furniture to make the room warm and cozy.

Hi Katie-Everybody’s home office should look like such a “fail.” The basket wall looks so high-end, and the tree is rich and glamorous. I’m happy and relieved to see Aurora doing well! I like that you shared a “fail”. We’ve all had those projects where we instantly regretted painting something or changing something. My husband and I are major DIYers…and we’ve done so many projects …I can’t even remember them all. When I run out of money, I live vicariously through people like you …redoing your new house. 😂. Don’t feel bad. It’s part of life. I’ve also been young and on a budget …and I’ve made do with leftover furniture or stuff that I pieced together from prior rooms or whatnot until I could really do what I wanted to do! It’s such a process and takes time. Your true followers will enjoy seeing you grow along the way and get to experience you redoing all these rooms over time….the little and big makeovers. It’s fun for us! My husband started a new job and he’s exhausted everyday so my pantry makeover has been stalled out (my pantry is literally disorganized and falling off the shelves) and the kids double vanity he was about to build has been halted. The quartz countertop has been sitting in the garage for months. 🤣 So I’m enjoying your vids…while I wait on him to get his mojo back. He builds and I do all the designs, painting, and decor. We enjoy your genuine attitude about it, Katie!!

Also I wanted to tell you that Costco currently has the heated Ember mug discounted by $20.00.
My daughter for her office got some beautiful glass doored bookcases at IKEA and they were easy to assemble.Not a big fan of white furniture but black is worse and black and brown paint vry hard to work with.I have a basket wall in my livingroom.......love it so much.Most of mine are from Target Amazon and Santa fe trading Co.The room turned out gorgeous !

Beyond paint is pretty great on ikea type furniture
I love love to decorate. You did great but if you want a change move the chaise lounge under the basket wall, the side board cupboards next to the Christmas tree and Brian’s desk where the lounger is. Then his desk won’t be the first thing people see when they walk in or when they are eating in the dining room. Next time get a product called liquid sand. Wipe it on and no messy sanding😊

I always watch your videos but never comment. Girl, I’m so glad you put this video up but you say things a lot that I wish I had realized when I was your age. Yes everything doesn’t always come out like you planned but that’s how life is. It was a beautiful makeover still got however long it is until you upgrade it. I will use every color but red for Christmas but I did use a touch of burgundy this Christmas and it’s beautiful. Love your makeover videos especially. Happy Holidays and congrats on y’all’s baby.

Everything looks great! I love the decorations on top of the new cabinets. I like putting contact paper inside cabinets….it would cover the oops paint & is removable too! Love watching y’all!
Ah we all make mistakes when we're trying to do stuff live and learn sweetie. I had no question whether or not you were taking precautions I know how much you love that baby. Chalk paint might have been a better option for the paint though lol. I think the makeover looks great 🎄 And I'm sure Brian is happy to have an office that finished 🖥️

Hi Katie, I learned (the hard way) that some surfaces can’t be painted/that paint won’t adhere to it. But the good news is, if you spray paint them first, paint will then adhere and not peel off! But you have eye right idea using the kless expensive units from IKEA because one can then add wood molding or trim pieces on top/on the sides, etc, to camouflage the seams, and no one would ever know that it was inexpensive IKEA pieces. My husband and I did a big, 3 bookcase thing, pushed um together, added trim boards, then ran a long piece of crown molding across the top, and in the end it looked like a huge built in book case/display shelf wall unit, for way-less than the real deal. With Bryan’s skill set, the 2 of you could could easily accomplish it. Know you will be having other-things-to-do here soon, but just saying…😘

I LOVE this IKEA set black. When you’re up to it, get some black MILK paint. It’s a bit better than CHALK paint, though both will work. And you can always seal it with a clear wax….though that does stink, at least Briwax does, my go-to product.

It's actually all quite lovely. No need to apologize. Loving the burgundy and in fact got the burgundy pillow myself from Home Goods. Love that tree skirt also. I like TH-cam during the day and reading at bed time.

I think it turned out fantastic! The innards of cabinets are for storage only so don't worry about that. You can do something to it later if you wish.

I love your videos. Don't be so hard on yourself about the "fail." I've been a homeowner for 30 years, and there have been LOTS of DIY projects. And to be honest, lots of fails. There's only one thing that you should've done and I know this because I made the mistake myself a few years ago. You needed to prime the piece before painting. I forget what that furniture is made of, but it requires primer, otherwise, the paint "slips" right off and can end up peeling off in big strips. But don't worry! If in the future, you decide you want to keep the furniture, prime it, and then paint it again. I did that and it turned out perfectly. The primer sealed well to the first paint job (acting as a base) and held the second paint job even better. Don't worry so much over the "fails." They're not really fails, if we learn from them. Again, I love your videos---you have a beautiful home and a great personality!
