This right here takes me back ... not only one of the first PlayStation 1 games I watched my Dad play, but ultimately one of the first horror games that would shape myself as a gamer, even as early at 5 years old! I loved being lost in the Fog, and the radio static being the indicator that danger was coming (such a great mechanic!). The creatures have always been the best thing about this game, though - well, that and the 'Underworld/Other World'. Great review, mate!
My earliest memories of this game, or indeed series, is hearing quite a bit about its horror elements from a friend, including seeing excerpts of the making of Silent Hill 2. In around 2014 or so, I tried out an emulator on my new computer and played this game late at night. For my first Silent Hill experience, the evening horrors of this game appealed to me right away, even with its dated retro production values and gameplay mechanics. The sound is indeed top tier - I may have heard somewhere that dentist drills were used for the final boss [thanks a lot, reminding us of the general fear of going to the dentist]. Also, the mall sequence, tbf, has that iconic TV screens moment, though the LIsa's Theme moment is still one of the most memorable night time terrors in any game to me.
Oh man, you got me all nostalgic- this game was on another level back in it's day. And then Team Silent smashed it again with the sequel. The sound design alone is unrivalled imo. Great review- looking forward to your thoughts on Silent Hill 2.
I am thinking about to review the game, this was a great video you produced. It gave me some inspiration. You deserve way much subs, like and new sub here 👍😁
I know this is an unpopular opinion here but Silent Hill 1, 2, 3, and Homecoming are some of my favorite horror games of all time. Ironically 1 is the last 1 I played out of all them and I feel - in many respects - it is my favorite out of the entire series. I like your videos buddy, I subscribed a few weeks ago and first watched your doom 64 review. Good stuff.
I know homecoming has a reputation as being a bad game, but I couldn't say for myself because I just haven't played any SH game after 4, fingers crossed Konami do the decent thing and sell the IP to a studio that'll do it justice :)
Silent hill on the og playstation has always stuck in my mind as one of the most scariest games i've ever played...the fact I was like 12 didn't help either lol excellent review and great editing bro
Now this is one game from the horror genre that I would love to get my hands on because when you talk about OG horror genres if Resident Evil is #1, Silent Hill would be #1A or vice versa Might have to wait and see what Kojima pulls out seeing as how he is working on a Silent Hill game as we speak unless Playstation finally pull the finger from betwixt their cheeks and finally release it on the Playstation store
I'm absolutely digging the new format! I need to sit down and play this sometime. As far as recommendations... Snes - Demon's Crest N64 - space station silicon valley
havent played but heard of sssv, I think you've told me about it before, and I do love demons crest, which is surprising considering it's part of the ghould and ghosts universe 😅
Lovely job! That trailer was just amazing. I remember the demo version in the school with the seemingly unkillable ghost children!. That first bit with the lighter is just perfect. And even if you do manage to get away from the teddy bears and get back to the door... it's locked. And you're stuck. And then the teddy bears are following you... ouch. The pterodactyls in the fog were terrifying. The radio would go off, you'd stand there looking and it would fly in from behind you, twat you in the head and then fly off. Rinse and repeat until you die. Emergency hammer for life. In the sewers I turned the volume down as it was too scary. And the saddest scene in the game BROKE me. First time through I missed the Hunting Rifle and ran out of bullets at the end boss. Also I didn't find most of the maps! Great vid.
I always found the pterodactyls to be quite passive aggressive in their attacks, giving you a little love tap and the running off like when you're in primary school and you fancied someone 😅
I love this game of all the other Silent Hill games! But feck me the price of a used copy is 80 bucks USD and thats JUST the disc. That can piss right off. I'm glad I own it digitally but Id like to own it phusically. It just won't happen though.

I'm having that with NostalgiaNerd, he left 3 comments on one of mine and TH-cam just ghosted them.
''A big ringing dinner bell'' is a brilliant way to describe using the torch, that made me laugh. Another great video.

Loved this series ...and that first one is still pretty amazing to me ...cool vid and nailed the review 👍
Lovely review! It’ll be added to my silent hill playlist. 🥰
I do love your sense of humor throughout the video!
great video! I was 9 when silent hill first came out and it was terrifying for me back then lol
And yes I remember endless hours of 'can we get it chipped dad!?' 🤣🤣

While I've never actually played Silent Hill, I will say that it does look both interesting and scary.

You should play Homecoming, underrated as far as I'm concerned. Great review.

@@Vakantscull Bless them! I found, like you said, the best thing to do was just to run away from the monsters!
Liking the new format very mooch 👍👍
One of the best games on the PS1.
Silent Hill was a master piece of it's time. Also that blooper reel was amazing. 🤣
i still need to pick up silent hill 4
there are a lot of people that really hate 4 but to me its actually the scariest in the series and I really enjoy it :)
Dude... you saying that you went so far as to chip your PS1 to play Silent Hill... I feel that.
Stumbled across your channel and, sir, you deserve many more subscribers. Doing my small part. :)
Glad you enjoyed, and thank you for the compliment, hope I do as well with RE this halloween!
Ah, so it's Silent Hill that started your downward spiral into a life of crime.
everyone knows modded playstation 1s are a gateway crime that swiftly lead to second hand resales and....EMULATION! *GASPS*
There’s a Twin Peaks fan made game in the works that takes inspiration from PS1 Silent Hill. Have you seen the demo footage?
I have now! 😍
It's probably bad that I never played the first three games. Infact I only played one Silent Hill. Silent Hill: Downpour.
I love this game of all the other Silent Hill games! But feck me the price of a used copy is 80 bucks USD and thats JUST the disc. That can piss right off. I'm glad I own it digitally but Id like to own it phusically. It just won't happen though.
Cool to see your face 😊
aww thanks! I was stupidly nervous about going in front of the camera again! :)
@@Vakantscull that’s understandable, you do great and hope to see you on camera again! Will watch the whole video very soon, excited 😊
aha so i was never the biggest fan of the orginal silent hill game ....
even tho i love survival horror games , i guess i just prefer Resident Evil .
that's cool though, both series appeal to very different types of horror :)
@@Vakantscull yeah thats very true , i do love psychological horror tho
Great game great review
