  • Episode 229. In this video I play a bit of the Arcade version of the original Aero Fighters vertically scrolling shoot-em-up. The game was developed by Video System in 1992, and was a stand-alone PCB release. Aero Fighters 2 and 3 were later released to the Neo-Geo (and by extension, the AES platform). This particular video showcases some casual game play, along with some random commentary about the game, and how I feel about it.
My Arcade-centric TH-cam channel, Arcade Sunday is your source of home Arcade gameplay, arcade game play strategy, coverage of interesting and sometimes, unknown Arcade games from the 80's , 90's and early 2000's ! In some of my other videos, I cover arcade game emulation and how I do it to achieve an almost perfect home arcade experience! Please "like" my videos and subscribe if you like the channel ! Excellent game! I agree, it's just a simple, straightforward, shooter. I think its simplicity is part of its charm. I do love the uniqueness of the bombs and power-ups that each character employed.. make replays really fun!

@retroprojections 100% "what you said" ! Haha. The character variations definitely improve replayability ! I love that Aero Fighters was originally vertically orientated and migrated to horizontally oriented (on the MVS platform in 2 and 3). Wouldn't it have amazing if Video System had teamed up with Cave or Raizing 8ing and produced a "modern" vertically oriented shoot-em-up, after their work with SNK / Neo-Geo ?! Food for thought...

Hmmm. I thought I made a comment on Aero Fighters Matt. Oh well, I'll replay again. I love this game and wish I had this on the Super Nintendo port. Well done game for sure. 8^)

Either way, thank you! I know how annoying it can be to type a long, meaningful comment, then it magically "disappears"... been there many times! Sorry! There was indeed a SNES port of Aero Fighters, but apparently super rare... I've never played that version myself, but will seek it out in console emulation at some point! Thank you !
