      We just didn’t really have “the extras” such as lights and gaming consoles due to either being extremely expensive or not even invented yet.

    In a lot of his builds for his kids he mentions "I wish I'd had something like this when I was a kid." What a good and wholesome dad doing as much as he can to give his kids more.

    Missed opportunity to add drawers in the stairs for toys and random bits. But this is such a killer idea! Awesome build!

    Make the stairs a pull out drawer or cabinet for extra storage to utilize every inches of the room possible.

      For real I only see my dad like twice a year and all we do is sit around for this two hours doing nothing then he’s out here putting in all this AMAZING effort for his kids. He’s a great dad.

    Looks good ... I was thinking maybe you were going to have some pull out drawers on the fronts of the steps. There's a lot of usable space behind the steps ..

    This is awesome.
    I would suggest putting thin strips of acrylic sheeting over the LED's so you sont see individual dots of light but rather a solid glow, looks much better. Otherwise it kills me how having such a nice workshop makes doing projects like this so possible

    That’s awesome!!! I wonder if you could have made that last step like a drawer that pulls out as a step box but can be pushed back in and locked so little babies can’t climb up:)

    Lol so cute how you call it trendle instead of trundle.
    Hmm, I feel like the stairs were lost space: I would have made them open to store books or their shoes or have baskets where they could store stuff 🤔
    I do like that bunk bed, had one as a child but however slept on top would bump their head on the ceiling when we got too big. Was so sad when my dad disassembled it into two individual beds 😭

    My dad was a diy dad growing up and he always made me cool things and set ups but he was a more “at least it works” than nice clean look type of guy lol. Thanks for showing me how to be a diy parent and my home can still looks beautiful

    If your other son wants a tv as well you can buy a mount the swings out from the wall or you could put it on the back side of the top bunk.

    Well done! I agree with the other comments about putting in drawers in the stairs. Also you could construct built in shelves on the right side where the decorative plant was placed. You can never have enough storage with kids.

    killer project love it, the only thing that I can think, and its very easy, I would had installed two sets of LED lights, so that each can control the color or their lights. killer job, keep it up man, I bet your kids see you as a super hero, that you can do everything. thumbs up.

    Glue , screw , nail , dowels , pocket screws all good when building frames for just about anything especially when you have use the above in combination together

    You need some milky white acrylic pieces to cover the LED lights, it will diffuse the light and look better

    the stairs are fortified..you can make it a secret shelf or something to hide in.. well games food or the switch and tv. over all awesome bed..

    I had one of those beds for quite a while (minus the media extras) on the USS Abraham Lincoln, the USS Camden and the USS Rodney Davis! Not quite the same head room for sure...

    nice design - I def would have put a "ceiling" in the bottom bunk so whoever sleeps there is not staring at the slats and mattress when laying down

    I think on the top bunk where he crawls onto the bed from the stairs should be a little door that way he can have tv on it like the lower one and a complete closed in space when wanted like the lower one as well

    Please tell me you did something with that electrical box. Per code, any junction must be accessible.
    One thing you could have done is use a recip saw and cut the nails, cut a hole in the other side of the wall and use screws to go through the side into the same stud. If the connections in that receptacle were to ever go bad you’ve got problems.

    Great bed great job, i did one similar to this but i wush i had made the stretchers out of harder wood than pine or attach a piece of hardwood to the front

    I have a concern though about the handles , you might wanna make a pull by cutting a little squares in the stained facing so they don't get hurt by the handles .. trust me i do bump a lot into such things
