Death is a process of shedding and coming into awareness.
There are some who attempt through non-attachment to separate themselves from what anchors them within this present existence. There are also some who utilize techniques such as breathing, meditation and even psychedelics to shed the illusion of separation and merge into an awareness of oneness/wholeness.
Both of these approaches attempt to “bring death” to outdated belief systems and perceptions.
What happens though is some begin but don’t persist. Others spiral and lose grounding and the ability to function within the reality.
Ultimately, you invite the death process while in a state of conscious awareness. I do not mean physically harming yourself. It’s symbolic and ritualistic demonstrating to The Self you are ready to pass on from your current identity/existence. Fasting is one such example of physical change that isn’t meant to “hurt” the physical vessel, but hurt the attachment one has to the physical.
