- A prison comedy about a group of mismatched convicts who use amateur dramatics to conceal an audacious jail break. After an ill-conceived hold-up goes disastrously awry, Jimmy (James Nesbitt) and Rudy (Lennie James) find themselves reunited inside HMP Long Rudford. It doesn't take long for Jimmy to fall foul of sadistic head of security Perry (Ron Cook), but freedom beckons when the Governor (Christopher Plummer) decides to mount an amateur staging of his self-penned masterpiece "Nelson - The Musical" - providing the perfect cover for a daring escape bid.

I believe Nelson's final words were actually, "Kismet Hardy..." I can see how so many confuse it with "Kiss me", but with so much of the English Language being watered down and lost nowadays; it is no surprise that the original meanings have been mislaid through the passages of time...! Kismet one could say... Fate and destiny.

@@davecoop9579 no he didn't. it was kismet not kiss me. nelson was also put into a barrel of rum to preserve his body so he could be buried back home.

Not being a fan of Nesbitt, I only watched this because of the other members of the cast, Plumber Nighy and Spall, I am surprised and pleased by how well it worked, good film and a bit of fun, 10 out of 10.

Cliché and nothing more. Awful film: stereotypes for characters, not one original scene, and gimmie a break! Prison break with theatric production as distraction- i tried to like it, all the humor fell flat, Ugh!

Exactly , what a waste of a quality cast , managed to get about half way through

Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."
Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."
