According to court docs, they went to a party at an apartment where they spent the night. The following morning, Wright allegedly blocked the door when a woman living there tried to leave. He then allegedly pulled a gun, pointed it at her and demanded she hand over $820 cash she was carrying. He then allegedly choked her while she was trying to pull the cash out from under her bra, where she had it hidden. She was able to pry herself loose and "started to kneel down and scream." He allegedly tried to choke her a second time and tried to take the money…. He was arrested and later released on a 100k bail. As a condition of his release, he wasn't to have contact with the victim or witnesses, had to refrain from drugs and alcohol and couldn't possess a firearm. His bail was revoked in July because he allegedly possessed a gun and wasn't keeping in touch with his probation officer. The case was still pending when he was pulled over for having an expired license plate. Police tried to arrest him on an outstanding warrant after failing to appear in court on charges that he _fled_ from officers and possessed a gun w/o a permit during an encounter with police in June. Just like in the Jacob Blake situation, what do you expect the outcome to be when you reach into your car as you resist or fail to comply? Especially in this case were Wright had a history of fleeing and owning unregistered guns? He also was all over social media aiming a gun at the camera and flashing huge wads of money. Three weeks before he was killed by Brooklyn Center Police, a new lawsuit alleges Daunte Wright participated in the carjacking and shooting of a 20-year-old black man on North Washington Avenue in Minneapolis. The victim, Joshua Hodges, survived the gunshot wound to his leg but spent two weeks in the hospital and continues to suffer pain and permanent injuries, according to his attorney Mike Padden. "Hit an artery, bled horribly. Could have died," Padden said. Padden is the same attorney representing the family of Caleb Livingston - who filed a different lawsuit against the estate of Daunte Wright last month alleging Wright shot him in the head, leaving him permanently brain damaged.

I hate to see what is happening in Minneapolis . I live in the Detroit area and always have. You don't know what you are talking about! Detroit has crime and is not perfect. We have had some protesting here, in the past year, however, more than most big cities, we have had mostly peace, especially when it comes to the destruction and burning and looting.. which is very hard to watch. Detroit has a much better relationship with the Police then a lot of big cities. The Detroit Police force works hard to stay connected to the community. That bridge between officers and the citizens is a good bridge. Be careful that you know what you are talking about!! If Minneapolis becomes like Detroit, it will be an improvement for Minneapolis! Especially comparing the two cities, the last 12-14 months!
There is so much stress in cities that it appears that EVERYONE is living paranoid. It would be nice if people could all come together to drastically reduce crime by helping the young to stay focused on successful paths instead of detrimental. That police officer probably has a good record. Her job is so high-stressed that she made a mistake that appears to be impossible to make. If you want a calmer police department, work on ideas to drastically reduce crime in your neighborhoods and families. Such a shame for both parties in this situation. Peace to this young man and his family. Forgiveness for this police officer.

Nah... I'm a Black guy (not mixed and light skinned like Wright) that is tired of seeing innocent people getting killed by cops, however, this isn't one of those stories. This guy had two warrants, one for running from the police, but the other was an aggravated robbery warrant he got when he choked a girl while reaching into her bra to take her money, and he used a gun during that robbery as well. This is not the kind of guy anyone would want their daughter dating. No one would want to have to live near someone like this. No one would want someone like that walking the streets. I'm not saying he "deserved" to die, but because of his aggravated warrant, the officers actually did have the right to have their guns drawn. Clearly, she didn't mean to shoot him with her gun and meant to use her taser. Yes, she made a terrible mistake that is understandable (if you've never been a cop, you wouldn't know what it's like to be in the moment), but that mistake only happened when a violent wannabe thug tried to (again) run from the police. If he hadn't deserved to be killed, the only thing he would have deserved was prison time (not just jail time; that aggravated charge would have landed him in prison). To have assaulted that woman like that, he deserved prison. This wasn't some innocent person, and I don't understand why this mixed kid is suddenly Black. ABC, don't twist this one. While he didn't deserve to die, I can't honestly say it's sad to know a guy like this isn't walking the streets anymore. Stop showing those "cute" Instagram pictures of him.

Show is pictures in his orange jail jumpsuit; they're all over the internet and easy to find. This wanna be thug simply got what was coming to him, even if it was through negligence of a cop who fired the wrong weapon.
Why don't you have this much passion and emotion and energy when he was alive to convince him to turn his life around? Or were you just convinced that he was a perfect little angel and naive to the fact that he's out being a thug?
Bad parenting and lack of discipline is the result of this
Why did he run? Getting back in his car??

Officer who fire the shot made a mistake n need to be accountable
Scott Lasalle, Tycell Nelson, Theodore Bobo are three names of Black Men that were shot and Killed by Minneapolis Police and were justified each time !
I agree that the kid created the situation because he had outstanding warrants for his arrest which caused to try to flee in a vehicle which can be life threatening for a cop but the cop did make a mistake.
But still a cops mission is to stop and get them without killing anyone
The Cop s it was said thought she pulled out her tazer and pulled out her gun and shot him 26 yrs , you can feel the difference !
Sorry to the family for their loss, but they cannot act like they had no idea what kind of son, cousin, brother, nephew or whatever, they knew who he was, maybe they could had teach him to comply when asked by the cops and never run
Again, you sound stupid. I'm not gonna sit here and say he was right for resisting but she was careless. Let's look at the damn facts here. And be respectful it can easily be one of your loved ones up here being judged by the public one day. People like you get on here and say sh!t behind a pc. What kind of person are you? Let's run a background check because I can ALMOST certain bet if we ran one on you we'd find a lot. So be quiet. And again be respectful.

Will there be outcry by them if our Angel boy Daunte was shot and killed by another black kid in the hood? I guarantee you there wouldn't be one. The blame should be on Daunte should of went peaceful and went to jail he still be here.
@Lauren Avila you are not a police officer when things escalate you dnt think right and the officer believe she got her taser and plus she was focused on getting him out of the vehicle not what she grab which she believe was a taser
@Lauren Avila in a police officer mind set is different than us civilian they have to think about them selves and the other person in which he made a bad decision
@Lauren Avila taser or gun the both have the same shape different indents both have a pistol grip
@Lauren Avila if you were a police officer you putting you life on line to ensure safety n uphold law. Ya dnt get me wrong but there are bad cop out there but she ain't one.
