    Keith and Tyler designed and built our beautiful 2 bed/2bath Adobe home in El Prado, New Mexico in 2017. We had so much fun with this project, fascinated by this method of construction, use of solar with how the home was set on the lot and the step to step operation of Keith and Tyler and their long standing amazing crew!Our house is so comfortable, year round with little to no maintenance. We enjoy cool summers with only fan use, warm winters and views every day of the surrounding mountains. Very grateful we chose Keith and Tyler and Adobe Home Construction.

    Beautiful and high quality, that home should last hundreds of years if properly cared for. I would love to have a custom adobe home about this size built someday.

    My grandfathers home in Mexico was made of adobe, these were considered houses for the poor 😂. However, in the US only the wealthy can afford them unless they can build their own. 😮

      Pero estas casas le ponen mucho material sintético!
      Una verdadera casa de adobe no se pone foam por afuera, y no lleva estuco con alambre ! Se usa el estuco de tierra.

    This is one of the best videos ever on how an Adobe home is made. The double insulation idea of adding foam insulation for improving thermal quality is the proper way to do it. I've watched this video many times!!!!

    New Mexico is still my favorite state. We lived in SF as kids. When our family moved to Phoenix my dad eventually bought a big older home that needed a full renovation. It was an old home built of masonry blocks. My dad hire three brothers fro SF to come up and remodel the home. The interior walls were finished with diamond plaster. They added some vigas to the home too. Those guys were there on that job for over 6 months. The results were stunning. Anyhow, it was fun watching your fantastic video

      If you want to do it legally those without proper foundation and beans above the windows and doors are consider illegal and the city code inspector can and will harassed you all the time and even shut you down and make you tare it down threaten you with big fines just days ago building codes were finally approved nation wide for adobe homes which is a good thing because no more harassments no more fines live legally they only ask of a few things like a solid foundation footing & drainage like a foot of stone wall or concrete on top of footing then adobe after that as long as you top it again with concrete at the very top also beam wood above windows and doors proper plumbing's electrical wiring and septic tank i probably miss a few things I'm no contractor just someone who's dreaming of building an adobe home and doing some research in the matter here's the link for the adobe code regulations www.iccsafe.org/building-safety-journal/bsj-technical/cob-code-appendix-approved-for-the-2021-irc/

      @@sunnyamericana2230 I grew up in the mountains in Puerto Rico our house was concrete then I decided to come live in the US, it wasn't until after the internet that I saw a Spanish style home i believe it was in Mexico that I fell in love with, I didn't know it was made with Adobe I just loved everything about it it wasn't until a few years ago when Adobe homes started becoming more popular that I realized that the Spanish style homes I fell in love with was actually made with Adobe ofcourse I called it mud homes the Adobe name never got stuck in my head lol I also realized back in the days way back here in the US homes were actually made with Adobe too, I should have paid more attention in history class lol. Alright you have a great day

    • @wolfy1987
      @wolfy1987 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The older style ones are mainly built of just adobe with plaster over it on a stone foundation I believe. I think they overcomplicated it a little. You don't really need all that mesh and insulation. The adobe itself is a very good insulator already, and the mesh just adds a bit of strength to the plaster.

    Beautiful, thanks so much guys. On the interior, I want to get the same look in a tiny house I'm building. I don't think mud will work bc the house is on wheels and the mud will probably crack from moving around. What's the best way to get a similar look? Should I just do a plywood ---> skip trowel ---> paint?

      In traditional bricklaying we obsess to make sure all joints are formed full because of airtightness etc I was just surprised to see that it was here of less importance. Having render on both sides should make the structure airtight and weatherproof enough it seems....

    I wonder what the cost differential is between building an adobe home like this versus using more modern materials (wood, cinder block, drywall, etc)? Cheaper? More expensive? I've heard horror stories from people in Marfa, Texas whose corrupt politicians have decided to attack owners of homes made with adobe with gross over-valuation and skyrocketing property taxes, making it almost impossible for people to build or live in adobe homes there, even if they've been there for generations. Hope nothing like this is going on in New Mexico.

    • @b1gbuni
      @b1gbuni 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the materials themselves.. mostly adobe is more affordable, but the labor makes it more expensive. I heard about Marfa. I hope that doesn't happen in NM. I live in a 100+ year old large, territorial adobe and the taxes would ruin us.

      Adobe is not insulating; its thermal mass retains or radiates heat but does not insulate. The builders are wise to add a layer of insulation on the outside of the adobe.

    You should have roasted the bricks in a kiln. Then use mortar to bond the roasted bricks. You could have a build a home that could last 200 yrs. Even withstand server events
