I'm from England, this is great. I have a very large owl, alot of quite deep and wide cracks, not all way through but should have done this a few years back so will need to clean in the cracks. Job for my husband, he has all man tools just need to get the wood, glue, it's already stained. Question what is the best technique to clean deep wide cracks without damaging more.

I've gotta few small wood sculptures. I'm not upset about the cracks at all. I'm curious if a epoxy resin to fill the Crack. I think with the right color could help keep a pop on the Crack and not look at it negatively. No idea how to approach the idea thou

My 2 cents: If you create a "loop" of wood with your carving around the perimeter of the log...it will always crack. This "loop" is from the bears arm to the stick to the other arm to the body and back. It will always shrink and break somewhere. Its best to design your carving to avoid this sort of thing from the onset. If only one hand had been on the stump instead of both to interrupt the loop, it likely would not have cracked in at least 2 or 3 of those places. Good vid 👍

Can the wood be dried in a kiln prior to carving to prevent cracking?
