This is the first really good interview of Ian from Comic Con. Sure the questions are always the same and that adds up to being annoyed answering that Delena question all the time plus there might be some private reason why he answers the question like this but while he was quite 'agressive' the last times he answered that question, here he is very honest and happy. The fact is he always said he can't imagine a Delena happy ending. He said it even before he married Nikki. He always thought that Elena needs to be happy with a normal human guy. And I love that part where he says that is all comes down to humanity. And he is also right that it is totally unrealistic that Elena will be happy with one of the Salvatores keeping in mind what she went through due to them, how they changed her life - mainly to the worse rather than the better. I am a huge Delena fan but I am also a huge Defan fan because that's what the show's about. The two brothers. Not Damon & Elena. And if everyone is honest - Delena became BORING when they got together and became a couple. All the break up and getting back together, the 'we are toxic' then the super kitchy scenes and Damon becoming quite a lap dog ... for me they lost their chemistry when they got together because they lost their passion and most of all their drama. We loved Delena for their DRAMA. For Damon not being good enough for Elena, for being the bad guy with a heart, only good around her and for her. So isn't a dramatic ending where Damon would let Elena forget (it screams PARALLELS right?!) he/they ever existed the best? Imagine a great scene with many flashbacks of their moments, super dramatic kitchy song and then him leaving her behind ... wouldn't most of us be more happy about that ending rather than some super kitchy reunion scene as THE ending? That's why I would totally love that ending Paul and Ian have in mind. It would be the absolute right thing to do.
