That Boo anti is genius as a MM1 throwback, because the default anti for MM1 *was* the ghost wiggle back and forth. He created a setup in MM2, which fixed/broke that setup, that made it possible to use that MM1 anti again. This deserves the credit for being a true MM1 throwback.
And I typed this out immediately following the first Boo anti, so I apologize if this gets mentioned later in the video.
Your new level you posted looks absolutely brutal. Really enjoyed watching dan play it.

I like how by removing the boo going down in one tile gap by switching back and forth, nintendo inspired level creators to make infinitely more painful and frustrating versions of the same thing. Truly a thing of beauty

When mm2 first came out I was able to replicate the one tile ghost with a parachute boo but I think they patched it.
I like how the checkpoint gives you a mushroom like in SMM1
Dab placed third overall. It's one of my favorite levels from that entire year and I'm glad you finally got to play it.

I fell for the troll pond troll. It looks like you cant land in the soup so you land on the pow and pick it up. Once you've picked it up, there's no way to activate it because when you throw it, it just bounces off a spring and land on the floor without being activated.

Instead of ending the level with a gentle GG, Carl could have done his own MM1 callback with "Yatta"
The real troll wasn't Year of the Guts, it was posting a normal vid instead of Carl's reaction to everyone's playthroughs

Top 3 games is a solid list. I've never played Outer Wilds, but if I'm with you on Hades/Celeste/Undertales, it sounds like I should give it a serious look.
As someone who has played and loved every single game on the list, can't recommend enough that you play it

All Alien movies are worth watching. Obviously not all are as great as Alien and Aliens, but they all have great ideas and characters. People hate on Alien3, but it's hecking David Fincher. He doesn't miss. It also has a fantastic cast.

Yes, of course, it's clear that Mario Maker is a favorite. My comment is a bit more personal as Yoshies Island is my 2nd favorite game, and I got into speedrunning after watching Carl running it at GDQ, so, the combination Carl+Yoshie means a lot to me.
The games he listed were all great ones though... and they all covered very different genres.

However, just the other day, I watched a saved clip, recorded with NVidia's Shadow Play of a completely unrelated TH-cam video, in other words, an MP4 file that is ON my computer from 3 years back, which just so happened to have a MM CarlSagan42 thumbnail on the side of the screen and I have an ever so slight subconscious thought, like: _"Oh yea! That guy! Good laughs, fun time. Wonder what he's up to now."_ and the next time I hop on TH-cam... there it is, in my Recommendations... hhhhow does that work? Does AI just live in my brain? Is this the hivemind? Is this the Matrix? 😩
