    At the beginning: “KQ, great removal hand. He blocks AK, KK, QQ.”
    A few minutes later: “Nick could have QQ, KK or AK in his range.”
    That term is being used incorrectly. You’re changing the meaning of “blocking”. It’s only removing 2 cards from an array of hands. You can block the nut flush because you have the Ah. You can’t say Garrett is blocking QQ and QQ is in Nick’s range.

    • @chineseboy3124
      @chineseboy3124 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Lol but he does block them hands, it’s just not impossible for Nick to have them even tho Garrett blocks them, having blockers doesn’t mean Nick 100% hasn’t got them hands, just limits them a bit! The only thing wrong with the term blocking is we’re over powering it and over powering it by quite a bit.

    • @benflippin5070
      @benflippin5070 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kieran Schwar So by definition, he does not block those hands. So it shouldn’t be called “blocking”. That’s all. I know what they mean when they say it. It’s just confusing and needs a separate term.

      that kq tho that was a very bad fold, literally the only combination that makes sense for value is j10, but after checking the flop he just has to call, there are a mkllion combinatiions that could've decided to bluff with air after garret capping his range through checking the flop..

      Mattia L. Not literal example but it has happened many times with Garret and his opponents and what you’ll notice in poker in general (refer to the game theory concept of the “infinite bankroll”) - if you can afford to reload and cover your opponents forever or essentially forever, no matter how many times they double up, eventually you will take everything they have and they’ll have to start from scratch. It’s essentially the martingale system that was developed for roulette only the failure of martingale is that the casinos have the “infinite bankroll” and can cap your bets, so eventually you will lose 11 times in a row or whatever other statistically unlikely outcome flipping red/black or whatever, but they can always match your bet so as long as you return, the one with the infinite bankroll always ends up the winner. That’s the idea they’re poking at, because Garret buys in so deep and has more $ than them or at least is willing to put up more
      For poker

    This honestly just makes me miss the Art v. Garrett street fights

  • @NikhilAutar
    @NikhilAutar 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Given pre flop action, nick can have all 6 combos of aq/ak, 9 sets and the occasional turned fd that made it - about 5/6 combos in total.
    He could only have k/qj suited as bluffs of which there are very few left.
    Good fold by Garrett.
    Nick blocks no value continuing hands (there are 9 combos of ak/aq, only like 3 kqss and the 9 sets that could take garrets line. Given spr, I could definitely see him play those passively.
    But given the flop action, you'd bet most decent ax here and balance occasionally with top 2 style hands or aa as you block continuing ranges.
    So that narrows down his range to maybe half the sets and aq/ak hands that will always call and aj ss/a10ss, kjss maybe style hands you could bluff out. I actually dunno if this was a good jam by nick. I'd rather do it with ax/kx style hands that block garrets value range and would consider keeping kq/aq/ak in my bluff catching call ranges.

    • @NikhilAutar
      @NikhilAutar 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      People don't bluff river enough though so I don't mind the jam. And qjss and k/q10ss hands are also in garrets range which would fold to a jam. Plus all the jj/1010/99 combos too. I forgot about that. I like the bluff actually.

      Ranges are fairly defined in this spot, that's why. Nick won't have many combos below JTs except for a few pairs like 77. Gman knows this, and Nick knows that he knows this.
      It's a p high level bluff tbh. You're right that he's not repping many combos, and that's why the shove is scary.

    • @StuartFerguson55
      @StuartFerguson55 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pugsnhogz How can he have AK and QQ (and AA-KK as JJ mentions) in this spot because those hands are pretty much a crystal clear 4 bet pre? JJ also fails to mention the most obvious hand that is being repped by this line when making a slight overbet shove on the river which is a flush. There are multiple combos of AdXd and KdXd in addition to JTdd/98dd/87dd... possible some others depending on how wide Nick is defending. A straight is also possible. Why he comes up with a range consisting of mostly hands that make no sense is beyond me.

      I mean anyone can list out hands that beat them. Garrett is saying he has a 5 or a straight or a turned/rivered set. If Garrett bet smaller then Nick would probably ditch faster but Gmans bet was so big that he's polarizing, and it was a lot easier for Nick to sniff out because of that

    maybe a thumb tell? he increased pace of stroking beard around 4:34 when Garrett said he was leaning towards not putting money in then seemingly pulled himself back and stopped the stroking of the beard with thumb all together... idk though could just be making something out of nothing

    I got 2 pair, heads up. I'm calling, I don't care which pair, I call. That's just me, though. I'm an aggressive kinda guy.

    I think with the Q blocker he has to call there. It’s flush or nothing.

    Idk, I think this is pretty much a snap fold. So many hands beat you. AK AQ JT AA KK QQ + all suited connectors of diamonds, all of which I can see playing it excactly like this sometimes. You beat like JJ and TT that go for this sometimes, the 77 is just such a wild bluff and out there that you cant really give it to nick that often. Its a good spot and cool to see he finds bluffs even though the diamonds get there, but I know im folding this very often if not always.

    Video I want to see:
    If the table never 'closed' at Live At The Bike, Vegas etc., how do the Winners 'bow out gracefully, with the cash'? I mean, we all gotta stop sometime, right? That story.
    How about it Live At The Bike?

    This guy seems like he’s a decent player but the longer he plays in this game Garret will take his money

    Well its pretty obvious Nick's playing better, he used to come to the bike strictly to sit down at the table and get live stream massages. Rumour has it one time Nick showed up in just a bathrobe. They banned massages at the bike ever since.

    If Nick had a 100k behind like Gman it would of been a totally different situation . But when Nick sensed that Gman was bluffing thst what was hella gangster
