    If these were the 6 Biggest engines produced under GM, none of these would be on this list. Instead, you would have many used in locomotives and power generation instead, such as the Detroit Diesel 20V-149 or the EMD 20-710.

  • @jayelbee1111
    @jayelbee1111 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Each GM division used to design, engineer and built their own engine. For example, each division had a 350 V-8, but each division quietly interchanged engines between GM models. You would see a Pontiac equipped a Chevrolet engine. A Buick equipped with a Oldsmobile engine. An Oldsmobile equipped with a Cadillac engine. A Chevrolet truck equipped with a GMC engine. Customers complained about that, so GM had to create Powertrain division, who now build engines for all GM brands. It would be nice if each GM brand design their own engines again.

      1400 pound motor try 1600 pounds dry, and never mind when that 5.5 GALLON oil pan is full but 650 ft pounds of torque at idle and a 5500 rpm redline is good enough for me

      That big Dual Six/V-12 was a big one. For sheer iron bulk, not many bigger and heavier that will go in a medium/heavy weight truck (dump truck, fire engine,) Lots of these were used as water pumps on farms. This, of course, was before there was something like a light weight diesel. But, pretty cool none the less...

      Yes, I know, and the 6.2 L, but they do not have the fabulous Torque of Big Block engines that Chevrolet currently manufactures, as before. For example Ford should continue to manufacture the fabulous Boss 427 or the 428 SCJ, to name a few. Chevrolet, thank God, continues to make Big Blocks (see the website). Just because of that, now I'm a Chevrolet fan, and I still like the Fords but not those of now (Except the pick-up King Ranch F-450, I love it)

    • @starbattles1

    • @starbattles1
      @starbattles1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GM is still stuck in the stone ages thinking you need big cubes to make power. GM has ALWAYS needed bigger motors to compete with Fords smaller motors. The fact they continue to do it shows they are way behind and have learned nothing, and they suck compared to Ford, ALLL DAY LONG!!

    As usual, you missed the biggest production gas V8 EVER: 1960s GMC T&C 637 V8. So big, so heavy (nearly 1,500 lbs.) it was used in only the largest trucks - 9500 series. My H model conventional cab had the distributor and back two cyls. in the cab next to my right foot. And terribly de-rated to 275 hp and 500 lb. ft. Often found in fire trucks, as was mine. 4 mpg around town and 100 gal gas capacity. I love my fire truck!
