This country has given me and my family so much that I am eternally grateful . As far as I'm concerned this is the best country in the world. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

i've been in England 8 years, and am still called a 'guest' here. It often comes from ppl who are very pro-immigrant, who advocate for better treatment of Muslims, volunteer at refugee centres, etc.
But I'm the 'wrong' kind of immigrant to these people. They have no qualms telling me to "go back home" when I speak up about anything, when they don't say that to immigrants from other places if they voiced concerns. Have you experienced that?
I came here because my situation in america was awful and I was very unsafe, but I wish I could go back seeing as how so many don't want me here

Having emigrated from the UK to Australia I know how hard it can be to move countries, although many don't realise it. Well I have lived in the UK since I was born, 73 years ago, with a stint abroad when I was really young, and I honestly do not feel we are any less free than when I was a child, or in my teens. In many ways we have more freedom. I can remember chaffing at all sorts of restrictions and controls in the past which my children would find inconceivable today. “Freedom” is relative, and unless your define what it means, it means nothing. And it nearly always means different things to different people. I also like your channel a lot, and feel ashamed of people who are unwelcoming to people from the US, or anywhere else.

Hi Lillian & Philipe, I've just watched this video. I have to say that you are so sweet. You are without doubt a lovely family. It is so interesting to find out that you have a strong love for England Philipe. I did watch your video a few months ago covering your visit to the 'Victory' and was moved by your comnents during the video. Lord Horatio Nelson is about as English as can be and I as a boy about 1962 was taken to visit the Victory by my mother and father. It always stayed with me and I always remember my mother telling me Lord Nelson's final words 'kiss me Hardy'.
So Lillian & Philipe, now that I have watched this video everything makes so much more sense.
I live in Great Malvern next to the Malvern Hills and I have no hesitation in saying that if ever you have any inclination to visit this area and were inclined to look me up please do not hesitate to contact me.
    Regards,
    John

    Hi Lillian and Philipe,
Really enjoy your videos, they are fresh, informative and give your honest opinion.
It must be very difficult to raise a family in a new country with a different culture and ways.
I tip my hat to you for sticking with it. The UK I think is a great place to live and explore and generally safe, obviously sometimes things happen, but on the whole they are few and far between. I served in the Royal Navy and saw quite a bit of the world including your country and loved the experience of seeing and trying new cultures. It’s amazing to find out things which you think are normal and guaranteed but are not in other countries and cultures.
It’s a privilege you are staying in my country and hope you stay a lot longer.
Keep the videos coming, your a great team.

@inside outside upside downside Correct, everybody in the USA wants 10% of any transaction that takes place.
Collecting my grandson from playgroup in South Carolina is like a military exercise, such is the concern of some crazy gunman showing up.
My American daughter-in-law works insane hours, and is obliged to work up to the 38th week of her pregnancy, to pay for her college fees from medical school.
Her widowed mother just lost most of her savings because her husband ran up huge fees as a consequence a particularly nasty terminal illness. Prior to the illness they were a very wealthy family.
Taking my grandson out is a nightmare because absolutely nothing is within walking distance, and virtually everything costs money.
There is little regard to provenance of food, dining out in South Carolina is way, way more expensive than where we live in the UK.
Access to the arts is extremely limited, to even come close to what is available in London requires a one or two hour flight, which will cost much more than the equivalent in Europe.
For much of the year the climate is quite extreme, with air conditioning mandatory. Air conditioning that costs $500 a month to operate.
I could write an equally long list of things that I prefer in the USA to the UK, not least their Christian charity, their generosity, their love of children and family.

Into my heart an air that kills
    From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,

The happy highways where I went
    And cannot come again.

In America there are clear divisions too you only have to look at the trump administration and obamacare to see that America is also deeply divided again a democracy at work.

Like Felipe I worked for a company that for the most part organised and paid for moves, visas etc. and I count myself fortunate that they thought I was worth the effort and the expense. The lifetime experience has afforded me a perspective that few have the opportunity to enjoy and I can see that both of you are making the most of your own opportunity.
Whether you go back to the US or stay in the UK or go to other countries and cultures, the leap of faith in yourselves that your move demonstrates will enhance your lives and your understanding of others.

Hi Guys, I remember when I first started watching your videos, and not knowing anything about you tried to work out your 'day jobs' and what brought you to the UK. Given I'd gauged you were on the south coast, in Hampshire, I thought Felipe would be involved in some type of electronics or engineering. Lillian you struck me as being very cultured and thought you were a professional musician playing in an orchestra. The little 'theme tune' to your videos made me think you were a viola/cello player. Watching many more, I've since learnt I wasn't far off in my estimation. Enjoy your videos and response to living with us here in the UK. Continue asking for feedback, many of us are only happy to explain the nuances of us Brits and our society. Good to have you and your family here, and maybe at some point your kids get to absorb even more as they mix in with local kids socially and at school - it will bring even more understanding, insight, and appreciation into your home :)

Hi guys! It's interesting in that my wife is something of a devout Anglophile too. She is also Hispanic (born and raised in Mexico). I don't know when or where she developed her appreciation for the U.K.; however, she is addicted to British television series, adaptations of British novels and other historical (period) dramas. I suppose that it could be some of the novels that she read or British television programs that she viewed during college.
I grew up in Virginia -- which has a strong cultural tie with the U.K. (from the names of the cities, counties and landmarks to some of the actual rhetorical norms too). My wife actually converted me into something of an Anglophile too. We now live in the Silicon Valley (with arguable similar weather to the U.K.). My wife is convinced that she would love living in the U.K.
We're both well-traveled. We both studied abroad. My wife studied for a semester in Spain but couldn't wait to return to the United States. Yet, she thinks that she would love the U.K. We hope to visit Britain soon (and, perhaps, Ireland).

The UK is almost unrecognisable than it was in the sixties and seventies. It was a lot gentler country, a lot cleaner country and a lot more self-assured. People really took a sense of pride in their environment. You didn`t see litter in the streets, bins left overflowing. And that's not a starry-eyed view of the past. Just watch movies of the period and look at the streets. Look at how well kept their front gardens were. Something has gone seriously wrong in this nation. I hope you guys stay, you can help put it right.

Well as an Englishman I am very happy that you came to the UK, we need more people like you as England in particular as lost it's way in my opinion. Whether you are Christian or not this country was built on Judeo, Christian principles and the rule of law, there has been a considerable change in the last 30 years that has portrayed our Forebears in a particularly bad light but doesn't examine the behaviour of other nations with the same Zealous intent, especially if their skin colour is somewhat darker. Freedom of speech is essential as we already have the mechanism to take someone to court if they falsely accuse another person or incite violence. There is so much to say on Freedom of Speech but I will leave it at that, you are a lovely family and I hope you will stay, personally I think I'd move to America if I had the funds but that's another story. PS I like Americans and I don't think they are stupid like some in The UK make out, they are obviously not in General, but I have seen a number of videos of university students being asked basic Questions about History and Geography and I have to ask what they teach in these universities because some of the answers were beyond Parody but I guess you can find the same ignorance in the UK as a young woman thought that the President of the USA was Osama Bin Laden and that Britain wasn't an Island so I guess we shouldn't be so Smug I guess.

You are the people we should be encouraging to come to our beautiful country. Meanwhile if you break the laws of this land and come illegally on a boat or a truck then you will be welcomed and housed and clothed and given free money for life and a pension and free access to schools, hospitals, dentists, interpreters and be treat better than people who are born here. And because you really love this country and abide by our laws and respect the people here then you are treated with the strict thoroughness lacking to those who hate this country. It is true that in the last 30 to 40 years we have made it shameful to be proud to be British but you seem to understand better than most our contribution to the world (good and bad) and our place in it now. You comment on things you don’t understand from your ivory tower, clearly you are not a victim but an apologist for the perpetrators of a failed project. Unlike you I don’t dismiss out of hand all immigrants just the amount and the type. I would vet anybody who comes into my home, wouldn’t you? And I would do the same for the people who could walk the same streets as my children. Or are you “come one, come all” because it won’t affect you! You disgust many people not just me. Gail Crook -
      "I yearn for the 1950's"
For young children THAT was the Golden Age, undoubtedly - especially for boys (who were actually allowed to BE boys) - who were not only PERMITTED to be out-of-the-house to play with their friends, in the woods or the parks, or the commons, or (best of all) the bomb-sites in our post-War cities - but actually TOLD to go out ("And I don't want to see you back before tea time").
And then along came the Age of the Neurotic Mother ("Stay where Mummy can see you, William: you're still only 16, Dear, and Mummy doesn't want you to come to any harm - especially from strange girls").
Sod THAT for a game of soldiers !!!
What our Dark Masters are doing to our children's minds today - with the Best of Intentions, naturally - is BEYOND wicked.........IMHO.
      Here endeth the sermon ;-)

Daran Philipson and talking a fair minded, three strikes rule is the craziest thing on the planet. You can be given a life sentence without parole for stealing a candy bar from a shop in the USA.
I'm not making that up. I was born in Connecticut, and grew up there, moved to the UK in 87 and settled here with a wife and children.
As a three strikes rule in the USA that means no matter how minimal, or how trivial the third strike is, you can be sentenced to life without parole. Even if it's a 3 cents sweet. Literally like walking into your corner shop here in the UK, and picking up a Mars bar and walking outside being arrested by a policeman sent to court, and then sent to jail for life without parole.
How sad, and how stupid does that sound to you? And this can happen to you if you are just 17 or18 years old. That's the USA for you, why do you think I moved?
I feel blessed, and lucky to live in the UK. The NHS has been wonderful for my family and I, with operations, both on my wife, and my two children, as well as one of my children having long-term medicine and healthcare all of which that would have cost hundreds of thousands in the US was completely free, not a dime.
I think the people here have been fair minded, pleasant, welcoming, and warm. I love the British sense of humor, and the wacky and quirky nature.
I shouldn't say though, because I should mean me now that im a Brit.
