      Thank's! I don't think I mentioned that the baitrunner feature was a little weak on it. Only small issue I had.

    Oh, I heard it want to overrun. Nice. I don't know why more catmen aren't using the oversized low profile reels. I had considered a large Citrix 350 for a while before I switched to handlines. I had an Okuma Akeena round baitcaster, and I loved it. I never caught anything on it. I sold it off. If I went back to rod and reel I'd probably buy the Okuma Cold Water Wire Line star drag reel because I love fishing with leadcore line for trolling.

      Citrix 350 is an amazing reel! Its the lowest priced "large low profile" reel and I think it's worth every penny I paid for it (~$100!!). The only question that needs answering about the Citrix 350: is 178 yards of 50lb braid enough for catfishing? To be honest I am having second thoughts about the Komodo SS already. Such an expensive reel!

    Great video with your cat! Does this Komodo SS cast far? I'm choosing a saltwater baitcaster for fishing from shore, with large line capacity and a clicker. My research pointed me to Abu Revo Toro NaCl and Okuma Komodo SS. Do you have advice on which one to go with or other suggestions? Thanks.

    • @Capt_Billy
      @Capt_Billy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Saltwater baits like redfins and pencil poppers? I would say go for it! If you are chunking 4 oz weight and 4oz bait I don't think it works that well. Need a round conventional for that.

    • @gravesendfisherman
      @gravesendfisherman 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your quick reply. I cast spoons and poppers, but also chunking from shore for larger stripers. So round conventional reels can cast heavier stuff farther than low profile ones?

      love that reel got one similar yeh its crazy what the channels are doing now as soon as the bait hits the water there on it i could catch them all day long but to many swallow the hook then they suffer the hook exstaction so i quit wene my stringer got full after an hour or so

    You can use 80lb suffix i think it cast with the 80lb just as perfect

    • @Capt_Billy

      Musky guys toss large Bulldogs with these reels so that would be possible.

    I just bought 2 Komodo 364 and my main line is going to be 80# suffix 832 what size mono backing do I need it’s going to be for mostly shovel head and bluecats

      50 should do it. I think that is what Denny (Float Fish Adventures) does.

    How much is it? It is a thumb-bar cast, isn't it? I really like it.

    • @Capt_Billy
      @Capt_Billy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's an expensive reel (around $200). It's a normal baitcaster that is good at casting Muskie and Striped Bass baits.

    Just out of curiosity... do you still have the okuma Komodo? Also if you do, is it still holding up?

    • @Capt_Billy
      @Capt_Billy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's holding up well on my buddies boat. He is a striper guide. Stripers are some of the most aggressive fish in freshwater. They really test gear.

    • @benjaminsims544
      @benjaminsims544 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man, this really helps me. I am trying to decide for a good reel to buy for a big fish setup and I think the Komodo will be my choice.

    How do you feel about casting with this is it rely restricted

    • @Capt_Billy
      @Capt_Billy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MR-FLIP It feels like a striper/muskie reel for casting baits like poppers. Light weight caster or free line live bait caster. It has a weak clicker.

    • @johnmusser8043
      @johnmusser8043 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does it cast ok with 2-3 small live bluegill rigged up?

    • @Capt_Billy
      @Capt_Billy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It wanted to backlash on all settings when I was trying to distance cast chunk bait (6+ oz). It just felt wierd to me.

    • @thecatdaddyexperience1222
      @thecatdaddyexperience1222 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Panfish what do you mean week clicker? The 364 is a smaller version and that thing is load and proud!!

  • @BigCatRiverFishing
    @BigCatRiverFishing 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's an awesome reel. How would you compare the Komodo to the Citrix?

    • @Capt_Billy
      @Capt_Billy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Big Cat River Fishing The Citrix is smaller and way cheaper than the Komodo but is just as good of a reel. The Komodo is really in a class by itself with it having stainless steel everything. Most if not all large low profile reels have brass gears like the Citrix.

    • @BigCatRiverFishing
      @BigCatRiverFishing 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Panfish that's awesome. I've been considering getting the Citrix for bumping and using swimbaits. I'd get the Komodo, but can't afford it. Lol

    • @Capt_Billy
      @Capt_Billy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Big Cat River Fishing Yea I would suggest the Citrix as it feels like it could handle anything we have in fresh water. It could easily handle a 100 pound cat. The Komodo SS could almost handle Goliath Groupors.

    So do you fish up in nicajack any?

    • @Capt_Billy
      @Capt_Billy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Dalton Hedrick It's pretty far away from me. I only go there when Ty or Joe invites me down there. If I ever get a real boat I would check it out although I may take my Nucanoe down there someday to check out the old dam rubble.
