WHISTLER MTB DOWNHILL TRACK ON SKIS?!

- I can't believe this actually worked!! I've always wondered if you can ski down Whistler A-LINE MTB downhill track in the winter, and it's possible. I'm sure lots of people have done it but I'm not a very good skiier so it was sick to make it down a full mtb dh track in one piece!
I always wondered about doing this. I'll definitely be hunting down bike trails next time I'm on a lift mountain! Step One: buy a snowbike Step Two: hit Crabapple Hits...
problem with crabapple in winter is you cant maintain good enough speed on the snow. although there is a run that runs along side the bike trail. although the other trails throughout the mountain are so fun on a snowboard.
I'm sure you could carry enough speed by bombing the hill beside angry pirate.

try blue velvet , works very well esp the bottom part around the playground

You can tell he’s pretty new to skiing just by how he goes off jumps. He was in way over his head from the start. An experienced skier wouldn’t have an issue on that trail

Some tips, instead of using your poles to accelerate, glide with your skis like you would on skates, also you can’t rely on jumps alone to launch you, you also need to “bunny hop” off the lips
You know that this guy is a professional slopestyle rider and not a skier

He has no choice, on skis MTB trails like A line are slower, and it's called poping off of jumps, your clearly a jerry

@@_wacci nah, it's not steep enough. Bikes carry a lot more speed than skis.
They remove the jumps, its a green trail in the winter.
A line on skis was EPIC- awesome video- thank you Matt- very enjoyable.

I get that he is good on bikes, but seeing his snowmobiling skills and wearing no gloves, do you really think he would be able to snow bike "timber sled"?
Former W/B Liftie here , don’t bring a snow bike ! You will get a month ban for trying to get on a lift but if you actually some how get one up you get a 10 year ban :(

Ethan A the only reasonable thing that my bosses said was that they cannot be properly stopped if you fall off them , yes I know there are tethers that you can use but that 10-15lbs bike is more likely to break that line and now you have a bike heading down the mountain doing like 60-70 km/h

The reason you could not build speed and clear the jumps is because the trail was not groomed or compacted to create a smooth surface
Id like to think im quite a good skiier and ski powder, if he had a better technique he could have bulit up alot more speed because of built up momentum

I can tell you that Freight Train usually runs quite well in winter. It's got more snow, and even though some parts don't go, you can link up the parts that do in a better way and send some of the bigger jumps

Lol but if your going out of bounds at least ski with someone else. Clearly your not very good and probably unaware of all the risks you were taking people die every year in bc skiing into tree wells and having no one to dig them out.

I'd highly recommend people don't take the advise that "there's tracks in here, this bodes well". In Whistler, in the winter, this kind of thinking will lead you off a cliff.
Last snowboarding season I found a nice mtb trail, sat on my board, and “sledded” down it. That was very fun
I love doing this. I always venture into the woods on my skis and ride the berms/jumps.

As a skier and a mountain biker I cringe while watching this, but not gonna lie every time I go skiing I always wanna ski on the mtb trails lol
Scary how it seems kind of like a ghost town. I know at Aspen Snowmass you can find these, but you have to go into creepy old areas, so cheers for the bravery.

There is actually a sport of this, but it’s crossed with 4x, it’s called skicross, an it’s insane and wonderful.
Slick idea to ski A-Line. I've ski'd Whistler, but not biked there.Nor have I ski'd a bike trail. I was last at Whistler in 2001 when the MTB scene was tiny compared to today and I stuck to the pistes, fun park & Blackcomb Glacier. The thing is Matt, there are guys who MTB on snow pistes. It's rare, but if you search TH-cam you'll find videos, and I have seen two filmed in La Clusaz, France, where I have also ski'd. France has a liberal view on extreme sports & have a rightful claim to having invented extreme slope skiing. In addition they continuosly produce numerous top level extreme sport athletes. So if you turned up with a bike in the winter at a French ski resort they'd probably shrug their shoulders & say "Bon Voyage". But I'd not try to take a bike on A-Line in the snow, unless you have Remy, Yoann, and a RedBull team with all the right permits. I somehow think you'd get a telling off, nicely of course as Canada has the nicest and most polite people West of Liverpool. By the way if you do pull of an official ride down A-Line in the snow, give me a call. I'll join you. Great video. Keep taking the tablets!

Says the snowmobiles a quite fast. They go 60 mph. That’s nothing. I have a 2017 ski doo iron dog and I normally get it up to 115 mph

You’re not a horrible skier it’s just not what your best at, I would say you’re at the beginning of the intermediate stage and in my opinion you should really get the fundamentals down before you’re even trying to jump things. Practice makes perfect so keep on going!

I would not evan clear some in the jumps in summer on bikes but on skies it would be even worse so f#%k that on skies
