Mesa County to join lawsuit against State of Colorado for damages caused by State’s sanctuary status

- During the April 23 administrative public hearing, the Board of Mesa County Commissioners gave the County Attorney approval to take action to join the lawsuit Douglas and El Paso Counties filed against the State of Colorado based on the damages caused by the State’s sanctuary status.
On April 15, 2024, Douglas County and El Paso County filed a complaint in Denver County District Court regarding House Bill 19-1124 and House Bill 23-1100, which prohibit local governments from cooperating with the federal government in immigration matters.
These bills:
1. Prohibit local law enforcement from arresting and detaining illegal immigrants
2. Prohibit state judicial officials from sharing information with federal immigration officials
3. Prohibit local governments from entering into agreements with the federal government for immigration enforcement
Mesa County will move forward with joining the lawsuit.
Colorado's government is wrong and it's impacted the livlyhoods of citizens, this lawsuit is in need of more attention.

How is it, that states can establish a “sanctuary” clause or self imposed status such as this, and aside from a brave few…NO ONE really stood against. Yet, when a state does something similar, worth regards to a FUNDAMENTAL, CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT… people give absolutely ballistic???

You need a witness? Permission to subpoena my rec's? Mayor Hancock was 1st to establish the title" Sanctuary City". We were debating immigration issues. Everybody at Denver City Hall must have agreed. BUT I think your lawsuit needs to be against Denver and personal lawsuits against those who opposed ICE openly.
Anyone who voted for sanctuary needs removed and jailed.
Our municipalities, counties, states, or our country shouldn't be spending any taxpayer money on non-citizens here or abroad until all Americans are thriving.

Thank you county commissioners of Mess county. I , as a mess county resident agree with all of you on the rule of law. We do not need illegal immigrants running around here and using Government programs for American citizens. Isn't the state of Colorado breaking laws by helping illegals that are fugitives of.illegaly crossing our borders in this country. Our governor should be impeached along with any Representative an Senators that voted in any Sanctuary state for helping Criminals at large. End of Story. P.S. Mexico does not people cross their border without checking in with the Mexican Officials.

Colorado citizen should be asking for a class action lawsuit against the government for wasting tax pair money and not repairing their roads. The roads are dangerous. They’re not safe and they are not maintained well. The cost to maintain your car a year is outrageous here because they purposefully do not fix their road. They need to be reprimanded Sued and funds allocated to the state properly instead of stolen used abused and ran to the ground like they have done
