I walked away from THE THE THE corporate dream job, at 40. I now work hourly, just to pad my retirement but also, so I have set hours and I can spend time on my art. It's worked for the past 5 years. No more 80+ hours a week and I do have a job in a library and make practically nothing but I can take out all the books I want. :) I lost friends and family, because if you think quitting when your young is hard, try in your 40's. People don't get it and literally shun me but I am ok with that. More time for the things I love! That includes books, writing, tea, COFFEE, animals, COFFEE, walking, my art and did I mention COFFEE?!? :) I even started making a quilt this year and learned how to make a crocheted vest. No one can understand your particular situation or needs. Do you and be happy!

Timely. I've calculated I have 12.5 more days of work after over 44 years in the work force. I climbed to VP status and for a woman without a college degree, that was something. But a new season is upon me. Just like you. I admire your courage and knowing to listen to your heart and discover the gifts God gave you. No more hair dye. No more punching a clock. No more high heel shoes. It's just me, my health, my garden and creativity. Along with my 2 dogs and my sweet family. Best of luck Ally. You are awesome. Hugs.

I just came back to this video and it made me think of the hard times I had in my last job and how I quit it.. I have been jobless for a few months and it is not ideal, especially after working so hard to gain my masters.. but the freedom felt when quitting the job where you are unhappy is like no other! The song at the end of the video kept me sane throughout the experience.. thank you for inspiring me ♥️

I know exactly how you feel and it doesn't get any easier with the years. The first time I left the country I had three job offers in different countries and I was making lists, pros cons, and was in a frenzy trying to decide. I finally flipped a coin and moved to Guatemala and started my nomad life. Now I am thinking about moving to Spain and will maybe even settle down there for a while. Come and visit wherever I am! You are also taking a leap of faith in love, not just your job.
I would urge all young people to avoid corporate America. These corporations mostly are complete animals. You’ve made a great decision. Congratulations
