I’m like you I love my scissors and very protective of them. I recently purchased a pair of klasse dressmaker shears for fabric only they cost about $70 and I still have my original Wiltshire stay sharp scissors with a sharpening sheath which my mum gave me when I started sewing. They must be about 45 year old. I only allow people to use my cheap scissors which I have lots of. 😊
Cutter bee UK scissors are the best fussy cutting scissors I personally have ever had. But I have every size scissors, and there are several Tim Holtz has made I also use hair cutting shears on my intricate paper doll dresses. Thank you for showing us all the products you use and how they work, although it's all your fault I now own 6 sets of coloured pencils. haha Seriously thanks for all you do.
I have an old pair of Fiskars scissors from a sewing class in the 70s that still work well, but my favorite hands down are my Gingher scissors. Those are my "nobody better touch these" scissors, lol!
Although I am newer to coloring, I am a seasoned scrapbooker and have used cutter bee and tim holtz scissors. I love anything that Tim creates. His scissors are wonderful. I have both large and small and because they disappear on the regular in my house too, I have both the old red handled and the newer black handled ones. I use both sizes equally. The serrated is on one side and if you don’t want the look of the serrated edge (like when you are cutting pictures, ephemera, etc) on what you just cut, just flip the scissors over since there is not a specific thumb holder. Since the other side has no serration, you will have a nice straight cut which looks better, in my opinion, on pictures and scrapbooking papers. Exciting news is he just came out with recoil scissors in both small and larger and are perfect for people with hand issues, like arthritis. I have never in over 20 years that I have used Tim Holtz scissors, had to sharpen his scissors. Now I do use the tin foil to sharpen my punches but not my scissors.
I also recently got the new Tim Holtz tonic recoil scissors. I cannot say enough good about them. I love the smooth edge and they are easy to clean. With the coating they don’t get as gunked up from adhesives. Cutting is so much easier. I can create longer with the stress, fatigue, and pain all decreased. They include 2 springs so you can pick which tension works best for you. I do have the large serrated that, as a card maker, I really dislike. They are heavier feeling to me but I have not checked the weight. I can highly recommend these recoil scissors for people who suffer hand pain. It is amazing what a great pair of scissors can do for a person. My previous pairs, that I used for 25 years, Stampin Up. ✂️❣️ Steve and Jennifer, I love your analytical minds. You always give us great product reviews. The methodologies that you use for testing things is consistently amazing. You break down every aspect that you can think of which is always way more than what I can think of. 🙌🏼👏🏼🙌🏼👏🏼🙌🏼👏🏼
I have the small Tim Holtz scissors and love them. I have arthritis with swollen knuckles and really like the larger finger holes. I use them all the time for fussy cutting. I was always told that a good scissors won't leave a divot at the end of a cut.
I've had the EK success Honey Bee scissors for fussy cutting for years. They still cut very well but they cause pain to my fingers because the handles are so tiny. So last week I decided to order the small Tim Holtz scissors, I thought they might be better because of the big handles and thanks to your recommendation now I'm convinced they will work! 😁 Thank you ☺️
Thank you for the demo! I really like the smaller Tim Holtz. Haha, when you did the fussy cut on the 'cupcake', the paper that was left looked like a perfect boy....the ears and the curl of hair on the top- hilarious! Thanks for a great time!
you'll love the 9" scissors! there were quite an adjustment for me being so big but you can cut a nice straight longer line.... so nice. i don't recommend them for fussy cutting... but it may work just fine for you! happy cutting!
I have bought dozens and dozens of the cheaper titanium scissors on Amazon because my husband always manages to take them and then they're never seen again. I honestly don't know where they go...some black hole where they meet up with odd socks I guess :) I like Tim's scissors but for fussy cutting I really love the tiny non-stick scissors by EK Tools Cutter Bee. I bought at least a dozen pairs years ago when I found someone selling them at wholesale prices. They were teflon coated back then and tough enough to cut through rubber stamp sets even with the cling foam adhered to it. I gave a lot of them away but still have a couple unopened. I just love them. Tim's are really good too, but I'm so spoiled by the much smaller size of the Cutter Bees. I'm tempted to try out Tim's haberdashery scissors but haven't been doing enough work with fabrics lately to make that investment yet.
You should try tim holtz I guess there 5" there really, really nice for doing small fussy cutting I have all and each has it purpose when cutting papers and such I love them all. 😊
Gonna try a pair! Also gonna get a set of Ohuhu 320ct Honolulu because of your reviews as well! As a matter of fact, I can offer a wholesale for a limited time as well. Just $160/set SHIPPED in the US!
For fussy cutting, did you try the smallest pair of scissors, or the 'fabric' line? Shape-wise they are similar, but no serration. And I have to admit the scissors with the springs are a nice addition too. The 9 inch is a bit big for fussy cutting.
i have a little scissor sharpener like your orange one... mine is black... it came with a pair of scissors i had bought 15 or so years ago. i still have it and it works like a charm. i did find it quite awkward to use it in the beginning because it's little and you need a good grip because of the tension you pull against it. i was using right handed scissors but i am left handed so that would explain the awkwardness.... but i'm a pro now! lol can pinking sheers even fit in the sharpener??
those big scissors were not designed for fussy cutting they were made for fabric. the smaller pair is not damaged from tape . remember rock paper scissors? paper has always been the enemy

Mine felt tight when I first bought them. But I feel like I wasted money on them now. But I love my small set.
How old is rose, I have a Maltese and she’s so cute like your baby ❤❤❤

electical should do no damage what so ever . Paper does ALL the damage to scissors not tape
those big scissors were not designed for fussy cutting they were made for fabric. the smaller pair is not damaged from tape . remember rock paper scissors? paper has always been the enemy
I wanted to purchase a book at your site. The shipping costs to the Netherlands are $50!!!??????? Rediculous
ii relate to special scissors.and pencil sharpeners... who kbew....
Serated does not need to be sharpened. Lol. I have a fisker sharpen thing. It sharpens most anything. Not serated.
She actually said they don't need to be sharpened because they're serated. 😉
@janascallan87 yeah. I know. I already had it wrote down.
Multi-purpose tool.
