In 1956 people must have been blown away by the Parting of the Red Sea sequence. Best lines in the whole movie "His God is God!" Fade to black....................
People tend to forget that when the Ten Commandments was first released in 1956 to the public it received very mixed reviews. Most of the public loved it. Many film critics and some other film reviewers and organizations hated it or gave it very poor reviews, although some others did like it. Surprisingly a lot of the criticism seemed to be aimed mostly at its creator, director Cecil B. DeMille. It did not win any of the end of the year film awards and only got one Oscar.

Henry Wilcoxon; great character actor & also co-producer of TTC under the great C.B. DeMille. No; they don't make pictures like that anymore.... Great times, great cast, great movie!!!!RMA
That's who it is, I couldn't think of his name, actor Henry Wilcoxon. Did anyone notice that when Yul Brynner was about to throw his spear when the pillar of fire appeared, the actor Henry Wilcoxon grabs Yul Brynner's arm and says" No Dathan you cannot breach the fire of God". He called him Dathan(Edward G.Robinson) instead of the name of the Pharoah's character Rameses. I notice it every time that I watch this clip.
Most people haven't seen it in a theater. That's how you see how terrific the effects of that time were. Practical effects including matt painting. Magnificent!!! NO doubt about it. And, of course, without Charlton Heston it wouldn't have worked at all.
I went to see the movie when it premiered in 1956 when I was 6 years old. The special effects are campy compared to today but you have to remember the time. In my opinion the greatest movie of all time with the greatest cast of all time. Everyone was a star in their own right. Who better to play Moses but Charleton Heston. I can't say enough about this classic.
childof jesusrose I highly recommend you check out the Dreamworks animated film that is actually very adult with its visuals, themes, and messages called “The Prince of Egypt”. While this is a classic and has more characters including Dathan, Nefriteri, Baka etc. The Prince of Egypt has less characters, but devoted more time to developing them for example it shows the bond that Moses and Ramses had with each other as brothers and as much as both would like it to go back to that it cannot be. Also the voice of God is much more calming to listen to while the one in this film let’s just say definitely fits the personal of “Old Testament” God.
Glory be to GOD!! With him all things are possible!! Be still and he will make footstools of your enemies! I love him with all my heart and soul! Hallelujah!!💖
You are aware that there's a geological feature, a ridge across the Red Sea, and when the wind blows consistently from one direction, as it does in the spring, it blows the water mostly off that ridge and holds it back? So one CAN cross the Red Sea with about a foot of water obstructing you? It's nothing supernatural, but it makes for great special effects. And they have found the body of the Pharaoh Ramses son, he was killed by a blow on the head, probably inflicted by an Israelite while he was departing his chariot which was mired when the wind let down and the water came back. Even after all this time, yes, they can tell he wasn't drowned. The Scriptures aren't a good guide to either history or truth, and I can verify this statement. I don't think they're a great guide to morality, either, but that's more along the lines of an opinion.
There was never an Exodus from Egypt. Jews were never as numerous as this movie would have you believe. There’s no evidence of any Jewish culture in Egypt. So their behavior was similar to the Egyptians or there simply wasn’t that many.
Only if you're a Jew, according to the Torah. If you're anything else, you are less than worthy, and He'll kill you and the rest of your kind off in a murderous rampage, which might be the reason Judaism has been widely resented around the world for such a long time.
The Lord will do battle for us! Behold His Mighty Hand! Showing He loved us so much that He gave us His ONLY Son to die for us when we were yet Sinners! Much love to all.
you watch this movie if you're not a believer in God this should change your mind all these actors were excellent, they picked the right actor to play Moses. I never get tired of watching this movie.
why do certain people feel the compulsion to drag politics and political figures into wonderful movies? Let's enjoy these wonderful scenes for what they are. Thank you for uploading Salvi528.
Part of it might be because the producers dragged politics into the movie. The "rule of law" is fine, but how does living among the Jews, which practiced slavery on others, and who stoned people for picking up sticks on the Sabbath or not having the right fringe on their garments, or for not being a virgin at the time of marriage, promote the "rule of law"?
@@shirtless6934 Your idea of rule of law is modern. Rule of law was very different in that time. You make an error by comparing the two and expecting similarity. EVERYONE practiced slavery, not just the Hebrews. Their rule of law was finally put in written form by Moses in what became the first 5 books of the Scriptures. It was God's law, much of which this modern society does not agree with. But it was a law that was needed until it was time for Jesus to come to earth.

Yes, he was loyal, and sadly on the wrong side. But take into account, he was prepared to participate in a genocide, and kill his former commander.
I think he says "no great one"😅 not dathan
Most people haven't seen it in a theater. That's how you see how terrific the effects of that time were. Practical effects including matt painting. Magnificent!!! NO doubt about it.
And, of course, without Charlton Heston it wouldn't have worked at all.
May JEHOVAH'S name be blessed for ever and ever
AMEN
Amen, and Amen.✝️❤️🖐🏻
I went to see the movie when it premiered in 1956 when I was 6 years old. The special effects are campy compared to today but you have to remember the time. In my opinion the greatest movie of all time with the greatest cast of all time. Everyone was a star in their own right. Who better to play Moses but Charleton Heston. I can't say enough about this classic.
Still the best scene every our God is the Greatest. Amen.🌍🙏🌍💯🌍
Dathan perfectly represents what is wrong with the world today....
SO TRUE
Exactly Right
Tbat'$ part being human nature.
Exactly!
I watched it today and this is so true

If God stands with you who can stand against you praise the Lord
R.I.P Charlton Heston.
He destroyed his own legacy.
o my goossshhhh this movie in 1956 is awesome...
One of the greatest scenes in movie history.
Wow!! I mean just WOW!!!
the Best Moses movie of all time!
childof jesusrose You got that right! This Red Sea scene is hailed as one the greatest scenes like that of all time!
childof jesusrose I highly recommend you check out the Dreamworks animated film that is actually very adult with its visuals, themes, and messages called “The Prince of Egypt”.
I love this movie
Ramses looking up then bowing his head in defeat is one of the best parts of the movie.
still a powerful movie even by todays standards
This movie is in my opinion 1 of 3 greatest movies of all time. I watch this every Easter.
my favorite movie of all time
imagine going back in time and actually witnessing this!

Praise God How grate thou art
Those solders Chariots are still in the red sea, even today,do your own research, all you unbelievers.
Chariots at the bottom of the Red Sea has been proven to be false.
One of the best movies in movie history
It's true, according to the Scriptures, The Israelites crossed the Red Sea on DRY GROUND! There is nothing impossible for The Lord to do.
Winnie-leilla Wawira indeed
There is lots of stuff in the Book of Mormon that cannot be verified on the ground or in history. Why not believe in the Book of Mormon too?
God is one heck of a cool dude! And a mighty spirit!
+Mike Gallant what the hell are you smoking?
He can be quite bipolar and aloof at times
Only if you're a Jew, according to the Torah. If you're anything else, you are less than worthy, and He'll kill you and the rest of your kind off in a murderous rampage, which might be the reason Judaism has been widely resented around the world for such a long time.
Yes she is!
If God decrees something then do not go against Him. Thus endeth the lesson.
Greatest movie ever made no future movie couldmatch up this movie
The Lord will do battle for us! Behold His Mighty Hand! Showing He loved us so much that He gave us His ONLY Son to die for us when we were yet Sinners! Much love to all.

Seen many many times yet can always watch again
Oh, such innocent horses!
Oh such evil men on the horses! mmj
Now all of that is at the bottom of the Red Sea, and it has been found
I know. This god tends to be a dick to animals 🤬🤬
you watch this movie if you're not a believer in God this should change your mind all these actors were excellent, they picked the right actor to play Moses. I never get tired of watching this movie.
When Moses (Heston) says, "The Lord of Hosts will do battle for us! Behold His mighty hand!!" if has always - and still does.
Amen to that.
That was and still is a AWESOME movie.
The Lord of Hosts will do battle for us!
Pharaoh should have got some iron chariots, Yahweh can't fuck with those.
The greatest moment of an epic film ever.
No.
Best movie ever lol not very accurate in some places but still. Praise God :)
Still gives me the chills!
why do certain people feel the compulsion to drag politics and political figures into wonderful movies? Let's enjoy these wonderful scenes for what they are. Thank you for uploading Salvi528.
David sent
This brought me to tears in my old age. 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
His God is God!
