I went to Grossglockner last year in a brand new hire car (had 250kms when I picked it up at Saltzberg airport), on the way down from the top of Grossglockner I noticed an engine warning light on and the car went into limp home mode and wouldn’t do more than 50kph and wouldn’t let me change gear manually (it was an auto), as the day was getting on I thought I’d get off the mountain and then call the breakdown line. The brakes were smoking by the time I got to the bottom and parked in the small car park on the right of the toll booth. The engineer from Mercedes that came out said that the engine had shut down as it was struggling for oxygen at the top and that’s what had caused the problem. Just glad it wasn’t my car!!
I definitely want to go back and do it on my bike, it’s an amazing road.

I'm not sure I'd want to go over the pass in a car. Too many camper vans where it's difficult to overtake.
On a bike no problem 😁

Yes i have agree nice video, looks like you still have good weather and hope it stays nice for you. I see your tent and it looks about the same size as my OEX tent. Hope you get your clutch sorted out and ejoy the rest of your trip.

      Thanks for the comment.
I completed this trip about 3 weeks ago (dates are at the start of each video) so I'm home back in the UK and working through the footage and creating some videos.
The weather did turn bad for a few days
      Thanks again

Nicely done. I was there myself a few days after you and we enjoyed similar lovely weather. We came up as you did and down the other side to Cortina and the Dolomites which was spectacular. I love the little GoPro Sessions and have two. Cracking little cameras in good light. What settings did you use on yours please? 4k or 2.7k? Stabilisation on?

Hope you didn't get caught out by the bad weather.
By the time I got to the Dolomites, the weather started to turn with some mountain passes being blocked.
I crossed Grimsel in light snow.
      As for GoPro.
      4k, 24fps, standard hyper smooth

Nice video, find a Triumph dealer and check the clutch, they should know the reason as the 1200 have had issues with the clutch, i got a clutch problem on my previous 2022 Tiger GT Pro after the service! They came an collected my bike (130 km one way) corrected the service mistake and returned the bike. Did trade it in for a GT Explorer only to get bigger tank as i drive quite long distance just to get to where i plan to explore du to short vacation. Live in north of Sweden and love the Alps.

Yes, I fixed the clutch the next day which will be in the next video.
I've been home in the UK about 3 weeks after my trip, and the bike is going to triumph tomorrow for it's first service.
They will check the clutch. Yes, being a hydraulic clutch, I have heard they've had issues, but I bought my bike new a year ago and this was the first problem.
Sweden is a nice country. I've visited a few times to see friends in Malmö and Trelleborg, but it's been a few years now.
      Thanks again.

Great video. Grossglockner is always nice to drive. Btw, I saw your bike cover at the end. Which brand and where have you bought it? Looks like great quality

      Thanks for the comment.
I bought the cover from Amazon. It's by a company called "Oxford Products". They have various motorcycle products, and gear.
The one I'm using is Oxford 2016 Aquatex Motorcycle With Top Box Waterproof Cover.
It's very good, lightweight and packs down well.
      Thx

Funnily enough, I did Stelvio last year and, my bike, BMW R1250RS, stalled 2-3 times right at the top🤔. Got to be thin air. As for the Grossglockner I reckon that the glacier is just a big lump of filthy ice😞, it didn't impress me at all.

Yeah, Stelvio is probably going to be a video in it's own right. I was in the wet, fog and mist except when I broke through to sunshine at the top.
I'll accept the thin air because of the altitude as a reason for stalling! 😁
A friend of mine just posted me a photo when he did the Grossglockner in 2005. There was more ice on the glacier then....
