Wow, I love this tutorial soooo much! Glitter, glitter, glitter! I made my earrings with some glitters and upload a DIY glitter earrings video! But on shoes is this so nice!!!
Hi Amber ... this video is a few years old but we're pretty sure Patty found the shoes at a local shoe place in the mall. =) Sorry we don't have specifics on the store name!
Hi there ... If you're going to add glitter to leather shoes, first you'll want to roughen up the leather with sandpaper to create a rough surface for the glue to grab on to. (Slick fabrics are tougher to adhere to and so you'll want to create a texture that the glue can grip to.) Once you've roughened up the texture of the shoes, then apply the Glitter Bond and glitter as shown in the video. We hope this helps! Let us know if you have any more questions!
Hi there ... If you're going to glitter synthetic shoes, we recommend first scoring the section of the shoes you are glittering with sandpaper before applying the Glitter Bond. By roughing up the shoes with the sandpaper, you created texture that the Glitter Bond will have an easier time bonding to. We hope this helps!
There's an easy way: Simply use the glitter bond or mod podge to seal it. In doing this you Press the glue with a sponge or a brush instead of actually swiping so that glitter won't peel off. Let dry for at least twelve hours then remove the masking tape. :)
Great video. Im getting married and need to wear comfy shoes so i choice a sandle with ancle strap and a 2 inch strap across my toes. Can i do this same process on the whole shoes even though the back has a zipper closure and side buckle? Thanks a bunch!
+Lisa Monette Hi Lisa! Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Yes, you can still glitter your sandals, as long as they are fabric. If they are a leather-type material, you'll want to scratch them up a bit with sandpaper to create texture for the adhesive to grip onto. Use a paintbrush to brush the adhesive on, that way you can work around the zipper and the buckle. Make sure to work in small sections at a time, applying glue then sprinkling on glitter. After the glitter/glue has completely dried, you can use a glossy spray sealer on your sandals to seal. Good luck!
Hi Rhiannon ... No, as long as the shoes are fabric you shouldn't have any trouble! If you are trying to glitter shoes with a slick surface, like patent leather, you'll want to rough them up with some sandpaper first to create a surface the adhesive can stick to. Good luck!
Hi Jonae! Yes you can ... just make sure you are using a glue that dries permanently on fabric, like Tulip Glitter Bond. =) Please let us know if you have any other questions!
Hi Annmarie! You'll want to use masking tape or blue painter's tape ... any tape that you can easily tear to create jagged shapes for making the stripes. Good luck!
Hi there ... yes you can! We just recommend light layers of glue so it doesn't get too clumpy when applying glitter. Please let us know if you have any other questions!
Hi there ... Patty used Tulip Fashion Glitters in the following colors: Neon Pink, Pink Jewel, Pink Pastel and Red Fine Jewel. Here is a link to check them out! www.ilovetocreate.com/tulip-glitter
Hello, I have "Betsey Johnson" "Gala" shoes from her blue collection. I have 4 pairs, black, gold and i brought 2 pairs of the silver. I am hoping to spray paint one pair metallic or glitter white. They are already a glittered shoe. Do have any suggestions on which spray to use? I would like to keep them glittered but white but since they are already silver glittered do have any recommendations? Thanks.
M. Spinelli Hi there ... Unfortunately, any spray you use will most likely ruin your shoes. If you use a solid color spray it will create a "stucco" type effect on your shoes, and any glitter spray you use will not be a solid color and will probably create a patchy look. If you are trying to achieve a solid color of glitter, you can always try Tulip Fashion Glitter (which is a loose glitter) adhered onto the shoe with Tulip Fashion Glitter Bond like Pattie demonstrates in the video. However, because they are already glittered, it still might create an unflattering, clumpy effect if you add additional glitter onto the shoes. We hope this information helps. If you have any other questions, please let us know.
+sanju ch As long as the glue is made to adhere permanently to fabric, it should be okay to use! Glitter Bond is specially made to permanently glue glitter to most fabrics, so you'll want to check the label on the glue you are thinking of using.
Hi there ... Pattie used Tulip Fashion Glitter Bond to glue the glitter to the shoes ... it dries permanent on fabric! Here is a link for more information: www.ilovetocreate.com/tulip-fashion-glitter-bond2 ... Please let us know if you have any other questions!
Hi Parastoo ... Pattie used Tulip Fashion Glitter Bond to adhere glitter to the shoes. Glitter Bond is formulated to permanently adhere glitter to fabric items!
+Learama ws. Hi there ... Glitter Bond is specially made for use on fabric ... it's permanent and even machine washable on most fabrics! Mod Podge is a decoupage; we're not sure if it works on fabric or not. We hope this helps!
That's good to know! I didn't realize Glitter bond was specifically for fabric. I've seen other videos where people used Mod Podge on Leather shoes and glittered them. Looks like a nice time for an experiment! :) Thanks for your response. :)
+Learama ws. Of course! =) Keep us posted if you end up doing some experiments! Glitter Bond can also be used on leather shoes, but you'll want to rough them up with sandpaper before adding the Glitter Bond ... the rough surface helps the glue stick to the shoe better.
+Learama ws. I don't know if it's better, but there are several DIYs where the person uses Mod-Podge instead of Glitter Bond on canvas shoes. So it can be done.
Hi Rita ... You can find Tulip Glitter at most craft stores (like Michaels and JoAnn) and you can also find it online here: www.ilovetocreate.com/tulip-glitter ... please let us know if you have any other questions!

does it work on synthetic leathers as well?

Does the sealer take away the luster of the glitter when you seal it?
Hi there ... if you use a glossy sealer the glitter will still sparkle and shine!
What sealer would you use ?
Nice
Do you seal them?

Does it matter what fabric the shoes are?

Hi Annmarie! You'll want to use masking tape or blue painter's tape ... any tape that you can easily tear to create jagged shapes for making the stripes. Good luck!
Can I do more than one coat of glue and glitter to intensify the sparkle? You
Hi there ... yes you can! We just recommend light layers of glue so it doesn't get too clumpy when applying glitter. Please let us know if you have any other questions!
can we use any fabric glue
Hi there ... yes, you should be able to use any fabric glue, as long as it's safe for glitter as well.
