I’m not sure if anybody else said this, but I don’t feel like the storm at 16:26 was a whif. I think Sky wanted to kill the scourge and so he did. Nevertheless, awesome cast, Falcon! Mad respect for you!
I enjoy games of any length, its your casting that brings us back for more. There aren't many people who can put up decade old content and make me want to watch it on a regular, daily basis.
I shamelessly stole the stuff below from one of the comments on the Day9 pvz rant. Basically it gives some interesting context to the first time Bisu (little known at that stage) dropped the corsair build against then then #1 in the world Savior in the MSL finals in 07: "Bisu was a no-name and Savior was the best Starcraft player at this period. Savior had a PvZ win ratio of over 90% and had never lost a bottom of 5 series in his entire career, never even went to game 5. This no-name player came up with this unique macro strategy completely out of the blue and destroyed Savior that day, forever revolutionizing the PvZ game. This new trend in the PvZ game lead to Savior's downfall, and Bisu went on to become the greatest Protoss player of all time. This was one of the most shocking events in SC history, and people called it the "March 3rd Revolution". Even to this day, whenever it's March 3rd every year, Korean fans gather up in SC communities to celebrate this remarkable event. Thanks to Bisu and this macro, for the first and only time, Protoss players gained an advantage over the Zerg and had a renaissance period in 2007. But at 2008 an aspiring Zerg player named Jaedong came up with a counter to Bisu's macro, and once again the Zerg regained their advantage over the Protoss. Because of that, Bisu fell into a slump in 2008 and had to change his PvZ game to get back up again. " You can see the 3 games below: 2007.03.03. 2007 GOMTV MSL Final Savior vs Bisu Game 1: th-cam.com/video/oiIATP1hxCQ/w-d-xo.html Game 2: th-cam.com/video/hdBW9g6dhO4/w-d-xo.html Game 3: th-cam.com/video/bx9Oe3yrL_w/w-d-xo.html

Really enjoying the minimalistic, content focused approach. The only time length I balk at are the 50+ minute games but I still dig into those. Voiceover quality is good, very listenable. Information is well communicated and your attention to individual unit kill counts is great. You can see the impact of good micro and quanitfy in a different way how one player gets a ton of value (or doesn't) from a fight. Changing the vision from one player to another, letting it ride for a minute or two before going back to all-vision is something I've seen you do a couple times before and would enjoy seeing more of. It would also let you longform riff on a player, race, a decision made or not made, how vision can win/lose the fight, how vision or lack thereof is driving a given players decision making, or whatever else. I think videos that talk about certain concepts like shuttle dropping, going through the decision trees of different openers, etc. using game content would be cool. The shorter the better on these IMO. It might sound odd, but check out the 1, 2 and 3 minute breakdowns on the YT channel 'Wilt Chamberlain Archive.' They highlight individual skills of Wilt & other players using game footage and voiceover. It's a different game to be sure but those would demonstrate the concept better than I could ever communicate it. Thanks for helping to keep the English BW scene alive!!!
Reading at the comments, I've gotta add my voice, even though I had already said my peace before: Every game (okay, the vast majority of games, and the exceptions are GREAT) are 10 minutes long, with some staring at each other before. In extreme cases, there is 50 minutes of nothing happening. The best SCBW game ever (imo) was 9:44 long (YT time; it was a Light vs Tempest), and constant action. I really hope the length of the games won't be the deciding factor on whether or not they will be cast, because it is an irrelevant factor on whether or not they are good games.
I watch all the videos, but I will say that I like when it’s a longer cast because that means you either found a long great game or it will be a sneaky twofer which is also always a nice surprise.
21:16 I love these observations made by Falcon! It makes StarCraft feel colorful when he points out these distinctions that differentiate the players' play styles!
i for one, LOVE short games and medium length games.... i get HAPPY when i see a game under 20 minutes or especially under 10.... i don't know where all these ideas came that every game has to be like watching a movie
SO seconded. Every game (okay, the vast majority of games, and the exceptions are GREAT) are 10 minutes long, with some staring at each other before. In extreme cases, there is 50 minutes of nothing happening. The best SCBW game ever (imo) was 9:44 long (YT time), and constant action.
I haven't seen one of your videos in about 2 years (I watched a bunch of your vids during my cancer treatment) and I wanted to answer your question why I clicked back on this video. Honestly Jaedong just has such name recognition for me personally since I've been watching him for like 10 years haha I'm not super interested in SC1 content in general right now but I dig it every now and then and will likely click on players I remember (which for SC1 is pretty much just Jaedong)
as for length of game, people used to add filler video and just talk or silence at the end of games to disguise the length, i liked that. they would also have filler games to pad out say a best of 5 only having 3 games so you know who wins the first wins them all. and for series they would use winner and loser and other relative terms so all together you wouldnt get spoiled. hi klazart, moletrap, diggity, nuke, vorosh, and dejavu
I watch and learn but I still have questions. How do the pros use the control group keys? I used them to select production buildings. This way I can build stuff without going back to my base to select each building then select a unit. This way I can look at the battle in progress and click at a point and hit control 1 to select the gateway then DDD then R and click where I want them. Sometimes in your videos I see a pro quickly use the F2 keys to go back to their based and select each building one by one and select units to build. These doesn't seem optimal.
7:25 to answer your question it probably is simply randomness. i don't click based on players for an upload or suggestion by the algorithm. it's simply if im in the mood
It seems you care about your viewers as I asked for more Jaedong matches a few days ago and here it is! I will continue to point my starcraft friends to your channel as I have already done several times before. Thank you ! :D
right so, i found your channel roughly 2 months ago, used to play brood war like a religion back in the day, i even have Starcraft 64 to be honest lol being a Zerg player myself, the Dong is pretty much God, i get mad when he loses... even if its to Flash haha. lastly, just wanted to say i love your castings, brings me right back to when brood war was king of games, many people who cast SC:BW tend to miss the minor plays, but you seem to see it all. Subscribed, perma-liked, Carrier has arrived.
For what it's worth... features that get my attention: 1. Anything vs Zerg. 2. A 'big' name player involved. Even if vs a wildcard unknown. 3. A longer game.
At 22:32 Sky's scarab should have exploded that big pack of hydras but it was a dud. If that scarab goes off I think Sky holds that expansion! Thoughts?
i've been playing starcraft for years, got into the esport part of it with SC2 when jaedong was big. i love seeing good zerg players, because it's my worst race
Honestly, I rarely look at broodwar casts in general so when I do I click on the big names (or at least the names I know, and I don't really know that many). In this case I was also wondering if this match was a relatively new replay since the video is only like 2 weeks old.
Is that possible to just pause replay right after saying 'gg' and before either of the players quit the game? It might help on seeing what is the lost clause.
Hmm, maybe the replay is just too old, and the meta was different, but JD seemed not that great in this one. He climbed back for the end, but it wasn't the "I see everything and I'm always everywhere"-style what I love from him. On the other note I've just found out JD has "tutorial" videos. I have to find some translations, but he seems a really nice guy. (I haven't seem him before this, and only saw him on tournaments, and that's not really the same.)
10:40 Noone is complaining about dark swarm being overpowered because it isn't. Splash damage, reavers, dark archons and melee units continue to kill under it. In addition enemy units are also protected. Psionic storm on the other hand - definitely overpowered. I mean cmon - 1 HT can cast 3 storms in a row - that's just ridiculous.
Just watched this game for the first time, and yes, I like the longer games and tend to gravitate towards them. FYI, I too am in the strange intersection of people who love both eSports and Sportsball!
The length of the replays should not matter. I watch sc or sc2 replays with the anticipation plugin for youtube, that hides the length of the video. I dont want to know the "killing blow" comes :).
I generally look at either names of the players or if there's a good action screenshot when deciding if I want to watch starcraft at that moment. I try not to look at runtime since that can spoil it just a little.
Question... do you think live Starcraft esports betting with crypto would have a market? Likely on the Monero or Pirate network. You being in the space might have an interesting opinion and an audience to bring to the table. If you think there is a market we should scheme with the network power of privacy coins now there is an opportunity for esports betting with escrow / smart contracts.
watch the minimap at 27:14. The DTs that Falcon mentions slip past the guardians and try to go for a counter to 3 different bases. They get killed, and Sky probably saw just how much JD has. JD had 200 supply and Sky had about 110. When your opponent is on 8 bases to your 5 ... yeah it's a time to gg
As a matter of game design, they would have to buff scouts because of their lack of play by either making them faster, cheaper, etc. I also think dragoon AI needs to be improved uncontroversially. I also would buff the dragon damage output to 30; putting it on par with siege tanks. 30 would 4-shot SCVs instead of 6 which is ridiculous, 3 shot marines instead of 4, 6-shot tanks instead of 8 which seems fair considering dragoons goes down by like three siege shots, 5 shot goliaths instead of 7, and 6 shot vultures instead of 8. All of this would change somewhat with upgrades much like it does now which is good but more importantly I think it would provide a better late game PvT situation. This is based on a lot of previous videos where it seems like once the terrain is produced enough tanks, there is no counterplay. If its too potent, nerf it to 25 where upgrades are more a factor.
Hey Falcon, I used to bail on the videos as soon as I see GG called but I realized there's more to your videos after the fact, so to me a 30 min video is morel like a 25 min game to watch. As much as I love your channel I can only dedicate a certain amount of time so unfortunately I will prefer to click on the shorter videos cause if I can squeeze 2 casts in 40 min that's a win for me, compare to a single longer video.
the storms and archon saves this game were absolutely disgusting. I don't know how a zerg doesn't just ragequit after that, they must all have adamantine patience.
I remember watching a compilation of short or cheesy games like zergling rushes on your channel. Did you ever do another one for brood war or just the one I remember
There are actually a couple! th-cam.com/video/JQr4UBaxry0/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/75b7QugOLtQ/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/i0pnPuJYu38/w-d-xo.html

So make Scouts cost 200 minerals instead of 275, Queens get more health, like 150 instead of 120. Valkyries idk whatever, ghosts 90 hp instead of 45, disruption web cost 50/50, Dark archon gets Maelstrom for free?
@@brewtalityk i agree with some but it should be also: valkyries 200 minerals 100 gas 3 pop, available without the need of armory. queens broodling 125 energy cost. ghosts lockdown 150 cost, 10 normal damage, 60 hp,
A recommendation, I think the thumbnail game has to be raised a bit. Probably write out the name of the players with an image of the featured unit. Hydras v. Reavers. I think it would help on clickability. Keep on rocking it!!
Honestly I think it’s just algorithm that makes some games view more than others. I see random stuff of yours show up in my recommended videos now that I’ve watched a few. I wouldn’t be surprised if it just randomly picks some based on what’s popular on TH-cam that week
Nice game, thanks for the upload. Have you received an e-mail message from me with the epic snow map game that I've sent you earlier, by the way? Just curious. Cheers ;)
I watch pretty much all of your Brood War casts regardless of length. If you're getting less views on shorter games, you could try slapping 2-3 games together to create longer videos--regardless of whether or not it's sneaky.
That silence after the guardians deaths was priceless.
Rest in peace, guardians. :(
@Aaron Patterson LMAO
@Aaron Patterson they would still manage to find a way to be killed easily lol

One of the areas you shine Paladin is some of the philosophy and history you share. Absolutely love this stuff.

30-something-minute videos usually have some nice back-and-forth battles. When I see a 20-minute video I usually think it's one-sided.
Hmm I see. Makes sense.
I watch all the videos, but I will say that I like when it’s a longer cast because that means you either found a long great game or it will be a sneaky twofer which is also always a nice surprise.

That was brutal. The cheerleading for the Guardian promptly then shutdown by famous protoss answers.

I used to bail on the videos as soon as I see GG called but I realized there's more to your videos after the fact, so to me a 30 min video is morel like a 25 min game to watch.
Jaedong has ALL the patience. :)
1:38, ow
I'm just writing a comment to support the channel
I remember watching a compilation of short or cheesy games like zergling rushes on your channel. Did you ever do another one for brood war or just the one I remember
There are actually a couple!

Falcon Paladin thank you!
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuge Reaver shot at 22:30 that completely whiffed in a group of 6 hydras. Surprised you missed it. lol
I'm Russian fan of Jaedong!!!
KING Jaedong haha
9:30 *if you got droplords, why not shove drones into those?* DT can suck creep then
Psi storm and dark swarm are fine, what needs balancing are: scouts, valkyries, queens, ghosts, disruption web upgrade and dark archon.
Maybe so, but we're never going to see a balance update. :(
So make Scouts cost 200 minerals instead of 275, Queens get more health, like 150 instead of 120. Valkyries idk whatever, ghosts 90 hp instead of 45, disruption web cost 50/50, Dark archon gets Maelstrom for free?
@@brewtalityk i agree with some but it should be also: valkyries 200 minerals 100 gas 3 pop, available without the need of armory. queens broodling 125 energy cost. ghosts lockdown 150 cost, 10 normal damage, 60 hp,
the OG zerg master
What year is this game from?
Go Play SCII
Imran Harith No like, this specific game: jaedong vs sky
It's really hard to tell for these, but probably around 2012.
Aztec was only used until mid-2011, so probably a little before that
HydroGlobus thanks bro
A recommendation, I think the thumbnail game has to be raised a bit. Probably write out the name of the players with an image of the featured unit. Hydras v. Reavers. I think it would help on clickability.
Keep on rocking it!!
I hear you. Thanks for the suggestion. :)
Falcon? Jaedong? Like before viewing
Been a lot of great games lately.
Length of cast is of little concern to me - I’ll watch any game :)
Thanks for the feedback. :)
Honestly I think it’s just algorithm that makes some games view more than others. I see random stuff of yours show up in my recommended videos now that I’ve watched a few. I wouldn’t be surprised if it just randomly picks some based on what’s popular on TH-cam that week
Falcon 😄... U can.t build pilon on Creep... That was funny... Anyway awosom chanel keep up the good work... Sorry for my englysh.. Stay safe
27:05 LMAO
I miss the mighty zealots of sc 1
Jaedong is crazy
Nice game, thanks for the upload. Have you received an e-mail message from me with the epic snow map game that I've sent you earlier, by the way? Just curious. Cheers ;)
Jaedong just bruteforce that Sky guy :)
I watch pretty much all of your Brood War casts regardless of length. If you're getting less views on shorter games, you could try slapping 2-3 games together to create longer videos--regardless of whether or not it's sneaky.
Must construct additional comments.
love falcon love starcraft love pepsi
