oh I learned something new finally, it has spongy bark! I am growing Coast Redwoods and Dawn Redwoods and Coast redwoods are 17 years old and the bark is really spongy. the Dawn Redwoods I just planted las year so they really dont have much bark to speak of since they are under 18 inches tall so far
