If you are new to WordPress, Blogging, and Hosting, I would recommend that you start with a cheaper shared hosting plan with a2 Hosting. It does the job well and as your site grows, you can think about upgrading to a higher level web hosting package, like the Turbo Boost Plan.
VPS hosting is great for complicated setups, and requires technical knowledge and experience to run the host. Any review on managed WordPress hosting ?
Phenomenal video Jack! You have established yourself as the leader in this industry and your videos are always empirical, unbiased and transparent! Just one thing that you might want to consider. I think you should remove these 3-4 sec transitions in between each section of your videos where a short melody plays and you showcase the title of the next video section. In my humble opinion, they are extremely annoying and repetitive and make it difficult to watch your videos. They are absolutely unnecessary and make your videos less personable and more like a TV commercial. And on top of all that melody becomes extremely annoying after we hear it once or twice. But you have it 7-10 times per video... Please, consider removing those transitions. Thank you! Just some humble feedback!

I mainly add 5-6 of your videos to my watch later list and then listen to them like a podcast one after another, while I'm running errands. I think a lot of other people are doing that as well. So yeah, just a simple 1-sec transition without any sound will actually make your videos less like a TV commercial and more like a personable, over-the-shoulder type of video that everybody loves and appreciates the most! In my opinion, you are the best content creator in this niche and I will always watch all of your videos! Keep up the excellent work!

I've used the "Value" plan, and the caching plugin used was LiteSpeed Cache. Same settings with the rest.

Great video! I would like to ask about A2 Hosting, from their website there the triennial plan is $6.99/month or $251.64 / 3 years. But the renewal cost becomes $719.64 / 3 years, which is almost 3 times than the original 3 years pricing. Will this consider cheap for the renewal cost?
My view is we can always use the service for 3 years and when renewal comes, there will always be renewal deals. If they don't, we can always find another. Who knows 3 years down the road there may be another better host that comes along? So, I wouldn't worry about the renewal.

Hey Jack, your channel has really great content and insights, thank you so much for that! The only areas that I think you could improve are the lighting (your key light is a bit harsh and should be softened, you could also add a rim light), the framing (the camera could be placed a bit lower to prevent vertical distortion) and the background (maybe it is too close from your back, maybe have something else instead of the huge shelf?). Apart from that, everything's fantastic: sound, content, energy...
does someone have experience with host armada ?
I would have liked to see some other metrics weighed into the decision. Particularly global nodes. These tests were based on your results from the manual and virtual locations. If someone wants to reach a global audience, the results aren’t necessarily valid/complete. The other major metric is backend UI (kind of subjective if scored, but important to consider). Thanks!

The server tested are situated in the US. In future I may test servers from other locations. Hostinger is not mentioned in this video because I've only picked out the top 5 fastest to determine the best.
Jack i have a question because the more i look at plans of providers the more confused i get. if you run a woocomerce is a2 still good and what is the diffirence between a managed wordpress plan vs shared wordpres plan ?
The site I tested on all web hosts are on WooCommerce, so yes, a2 works with WooCommerce. Managed WordPress is more expensive, and it is running on a control panel called Plesk. Honestly, there is no difference 😂 If you select the "Turbo Boost" Plan, you enjoy the benefits of the 20X Faster site. It is just a matter of different Control Panels. @@victoitor Oh! Just for that UltaHost I chose a different plan in this video. The reason was because the Business plan provides 50GB NVME while the lowest plan provides only 30GB. It's weird that TH-cam won't show your comment. I definitely do see it on my notification, and wanted to reply. But, as I clicked through, the comment is gone.

Why upcloud isn’t in the list?
I have had Dreamhost for a few years but they increased my monthly bill for some reason. Now they are taking over $28/month! They made no prior warning it was going to more than double. Also, the back end doesn't look like any other hosting c-panel I have seen. Finally, it says free SSL but I have yet to see it applied to my site. I got Let's Encrypt and still my site says Not Secure. Support takes a day or two to respond. I came here because I am ready for another host.
Which host do you use now?
BUT if you have an e-commerce website with 30K pages the speeds are different as you will need a VPS or better server.

About the speed of the shared hosting. Maybe you had luck and the server wasn't crowded already? The biggest problem with shared hosting is overselling, right?
It happen that a2 hosting has a lot of websites hosted, but they still perform well. I don't think luck is involved in this as all are tested on equal grounds, same settings, same elements everything. Plus, it is not based on one data but an average of hundreds of data points.

I gotta agree with the OP. Seems the lowest performing ones used to be faster, then their marketing departments outperformed their server size. Quite often the less known companies have faster speed because they haven’t been saturated yet. That said, I may be willing to sacrifice a slight amount of [local] speed for devUI, support, and # of nodes.
It would be good if you did an update of this video for 2024.

Jack, Ultahost has awful support. I had a site that wouldn't let me log in. I asked 3 or 4 times through email. They always sent me an email asking for my login information. I sent it and nothing. After 24 hours I left the account and went to another host. The new host fixed everything. I don't recommend Ultahost at all.
