@aidrivr The AI's cautiousness, perceived as poor driving, might actually be its anticipation of unpredictable events, like other drivers speeding or breaking laws. It sensibly drives slower than average humans, who often disregard these potential risks. So, I wouldn't put to much emphasis on people honking because you're driving slow.

    • @Sherlock245
      @Sherlock245 ปีที่แล้ว

One thing to add to the Ai is that if it learn where the marking are. Or it has a built in map and from there it shows everything to which he gain its logic.

Your editing is constantly getting so much better. The perfect combination of dashboard and interior camera views, the yellow arrows with sound effect, the slow-motion replays, and the seamless transitions between outside and inside views are obviously a ton of work but really improve the production value. And yes, I like the wide-angle view, and yes, I like the intervention counter, and yes! Add a honk counter.

The new aspect ratio is actually better for most smartphones nowadays, because most of them are 20:9 or 21:9 now. As a 20:9 smartphone user I must say that the 2:1 ratio is the best, because it just barely doesn't cover the front camera notch, which is perfect.
Also the intervention counter is amazing, binaural audio is more immersive and has a lot of potential.

Fsd saw that area to the left of the Amazon delivery van as a sidewalk; it appeared to me.
My favorite comment In the video was the autopilot knew the other car would stop when it made the holeshot around the delivery van at the end of the video. 😅 that's fricken awesome when we start assuming its intelligence level is that high.
I let it miss an off-ramp on purpose to see how it fixed the route. My passenger looked at me like I lost my mind and said I couldn't believe you let it do that. I said I was just wondering what it was thinking. They laughed and said it was a car. It doesn't think! I laughed and said then how is it? We were still riding along while it's making every decision?
I'm a robotics mechanic and everyday I except the car to be perfect in it's execution of some beautiful smooth lane change off a cliff. I feel confident ill be fine with the mistake as long as it did it well.

Not a bad idea, really - it's less distracting than other music selections, which is useful for those of us trying to gauge FSD's progress. And still works when he has the windows rolled up in the rain! ... wind noise ambient that wasn't synced to the vid would be a fun way to mess with our minds ... 😉

I think currently this is a bad idea because the moment you get comfortable is most likely when it will make a mistake (as shown in this video). We are at a crossroad between bad drivers and people who are relying on technology (camera's/huds/parking sensors etc). Ironically the best time for this tech will be if/when all cars are self-driving, Because it could be programmed to optimise speed/spacing and communicate with other cars. Of course there are unpredictable things like extreme weather and animals/people walking in front without warning.

We don't need to see empty sky, so wider aspect ratio is better in almost all cases. Since the actual camera FoV is much wider than the angle subtended by the screen when we watch, the wider aspect ratio helps the brain more easily interpret it, especially the 180deg view of the pole cam. 13:54 That steering towards the future where the pedestrians will be is an artifact of not planning ahead, but planning for the present. Which is kinda true for pedestrians, as they can stop at any moment, so planning for the future does not work like for cars, which carry more speed and mass and *will* move forward no matter what.
So there needs to be done two predictions:
    - Which is the path the human will take in the future?
    - How likely is he/she *not* further progressing in this path?
If the second value is low, the car will try to *drive around* the pedestrian, predicting he/she will stop. This is important behavior for pedestrian crossings on traffic lights for example.

Self driving bèta can only be used in North America currently, and tesla adapted the software for these types of roads. I live in europe, where, as you say, driving culture and traffic rules are vastly different (in fact, I don't think EU rules even allow fsd vehicles). When fsd goes intercontinental, tesla will probably adapt the software for different types of roads.

    • @lukesepter3250

@Sebas Tian here in the Netherlands, autopilot on highways and clear b roads is the most advanced autonomous driving we get from tesla, which is basically adaptive cruise and auto steering and auto lane switching on indicating. In that sense, tesla also doesn't have that much of a market lead here compared to other brands in self driving territory. For example, I have driven Nissans (leaf, x-trail, ariya) that performs similarly, and nissan is also able to detect roundabouts and stop-start traffic on b roads etc. in the adaptive cc and automatically adapts its speed for them. Don't know how tesla performs in that sense, and I'm also curious about the progression of tesla fsd over here.
And yes I can imagine tesla will have to re-arrange a few things for Indian infrastructure😂

The big truck pulling up to your left at 18:04 being heard on the right pretty much confirms it.

I’m really digging the aspect ratio. One of the first things I thought of when I saw it. I like it because I don’t have to fit the picture to screen and cut off the bottom of the video, this way I can see the fsd better. Thanks man.

As a German I just about died when your car just cut through the intersection ignoring the through traffic, that was insane. Guess it was mostly just following the car in front of you? Totally unacceptable ... unless you're US urban drivers, then its just another monday lol --- on the other hand, the car finding its way out of the parking lot despite completely wrong mapping data is kinda impressive! The indecisive turn signals annoy me as well, and I'm just a viewer.
As for your feedback: I wouldn't even have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out - the difference is just not that large. The black bars + wide resolution are fairly common in media and movies, so it's not that big of a deal. Your editing and video structure are what's important, and you're doing it wonderfully! although it's unfortunate your camera died at the end - the outside view is a bit jittery so it's less comfortable to watch than the inside camera.
Audio is fine, I like that I can hear all the stuff going on around you, more immersive that way.

Yep, you can pull it off on a motorbike when you can aim at the lanes you're turning towards before you stop and have a tonne of acceleration when the light changes, but you probably shouldn't 🤣 In all seriousness it does appear like the oncoming cars weren't paying attention, so the first driver sent it. Autopilot certainly didn't understand the nuance of the situation

In my opinion, 16:9 is the sweet spot for TH-cam videos. It looks great on 16:9 devices like monitors or TVs but it also doesn’t have huge black bars on devices with wide aspect ratios like phones or devices with taller aspect ratios like tablets or laptops.

Self driving has come a long way in such a short time. It almost feels like it got it's learners 3 years ago, and at roughly the pace of a human, has learned how to be a better driver. By now, it's really as good as someone who has been driving for a year on a full license (it's 2 years from 16 years old on learners where I live). Sure, it sucks sometimes, but so do real drivers.

It’s always a great day when you post a new video :) Regarding the shorts, other creators split a wide view into top and bottom, so for shorts you could have the visualization on the bottom half of the video and the normal view on the top? (Without overlaying the visualization) Just a thought for how to get around the handcuffs they put on you regarding the aspect ratio. Or maybe visualization paired with the third person view? Either way, your videos are amazing, keep up the great work!

Unless it's an especially aesthetics driven video, like animations, game or movie trailers, or things like SloMo Guys stuff, I generally watch youtube without entering fullscreen mode, opting instead for theatre mode on the browser page, and so this aspect ratio actually fills MORE of my screen than I am used to and I like it quite a bit!
Also this is the first video of yours I've seen in some time, and I love what you're doing, the composition of the different camera angles and HUD stuff is really neat. If FSD was allowed here, and Tesla would pay me to test it (or yknow, at least just make it not a COST for me to do), it makes me wish I could just drive about town, giving them data to make the system better, the tech is really cool though clearly still needs more time. Speaking of, I think a honk counter is totally warranted, yeah its kind of memey but also it is legitimately valuable information, any time you force another road user to respond to your actions, there's probably something you could have done better, "you" being the AI system in this case of course.
