Vitali Klitschko was one of the greatest - almost impossible to hit. Sad about the cut against Lennox Lewis. And both the Klitschkos are great sportsmen - and gentlemen!
@@dwight4800 Lewis definitely had the momentum, but he was tired as hell. His legs were almost gone from fatigue, not even from getting punched. We'll never know what would have happened, unfortunately...
Everybody pointing out how slow and awkward Vitali is. In this telecast they call Herbie Hide the quickest heavyweight since Muhammad Ali and yet Vitali had no problems hitting him, maybe not with an accuracy of 60% but still with good accuracy, and Vitali was even able to dodge Hide's sometimes and uses footwork to get away from them.
2004 - 2015......before that was king Lennox. Vitali better than vlad. But a 38 Yr old Lennox broke vitalis face. Prime Lennox would've ended his career.

@shaz2761 u actually believe that? At 38 and a career heaviest.....In his prime? How old are you? N how much of lewis' career did u see? Prime lewis was easily 96-2000. Still great after that, which is testament to just how good lennox was.
@@leighfletcher7675 yes I watched lewis age like a fine wine throughout his career. He's famouse for peaking late. It's been discussed numerous times. He got better with age. Smarter, more measured, more confidence.
George Foreman Well yeah, Golota would've won if he hadn't been such a freaking head case. very under rated and mis managed fighter hide. He could have been something really special if he had have applied himself properly and spent his career at cruiserweight.
The same thing as with Bowe, Hide was a total nervous wreck when facing strong opponents. That +giving away that much reach to a strong defensive guy...
Speed, power, and great footwork. It's just sad that Hide was never really a natural heavyweight. He struggled to stay over 14 stone according to his autobiography. He was gassed in his fight with Bowe within 3 rounds, his conditioning that night was dreadful. To this day Bowe said no one hit him as hard. Still what he did bring was mostly enough. He just never fought often enough when it was really needed, and was mentally up and down like a yoyo. But on his day he was one of the best and most dangerous heavyweights to ever come out of the UK. Underrated. As for Vitali? Well what's there to be said about a man who only ever lost on injury and mixed it with the best heavyweight of his Era? As tough as they come and one of the best in the divisions history. If not for his constant injuries Vitali would have reigned as champ for a very very long time.
Hard to believe the bookmakers had Hide the favorite to win. Guess they had forgot when he fought Bowe he was being staggered by jabs and had went to the canvas 7 times over 6 rounds.
cartert2 and bowe was arguably the hardest hitting heavyweight. More than 17St and herbie hide had bowe out on his feet. Go search for bowe stating who had hit him hardest punch
@@richarda3514 The reason I say Hide should not have been the favorite is because he was not only shelled out by Bowe, who was much bigger and stronger with a better chin. Hide had a very mediocre list of opponents for a two time heavyweight champion. The best opponents he beat was Bentt, who although, an excellent amateur was an average pro, he was skilled enough to take advantage of mistakes, he was an average B class fighter. Example of Bentt taking advantage of mistakes, when he took Morrison’s WBO title in such manner but, doubt if he would have ever beat Morrison in a rematch. In his second reign he beat an aging Tony Tucker whose best years were well behind him, see Tucker-Tyson for a look at a prime Tucker. Hide having been previously thrashed by Bowe should have been an indication to the oddsmakers that he was going to get stopped again. Bowe was 6’ 5” with an 81” reach, weighing 241, with Klitschko being 6’ 8” with an 84” reach, weighing just over 245. These factors should have indicated a disaster in the making for Hide, without taking into account he had only fought less than 12 rounds over the past four plus years.
Crap commentary. Both of them spent nearly the entire first round speculating on Hide's future opponents, comments on past opposition, and what his tactics should be for this fight, rather than the action itself.
Herbie had balls of steel, probably too small for a heavyweight but he never bottled it. And he could hit, Bowe said he was the hardest puncher he ever faced.
