it might not even be an experiment. Lots of fans think its actually gonna be their concept. They MIX concepts and genres of different songs. That's why their name is NMIXX. But we'll just have to wait for their next comeback to see if this is really their pattern and concept. The song is honestly growing on me really quickly tho.
as someone who loved sticker and next level on first listen, i just couldn’t digest this song. i don’t know what it was trying to do- shove a bunch of concepts and miscellaneous melodies into a song. it failed to highlight the strengths of these talented girls. shame on jyp for green lighting this
I'm a huge fan of Zimzalabim, Next Level, etc., and also a SKZ/NCT fan, and I can like loud or industrial sounding songs and choruses. However, parts 1 and 3 of O.O just weren't to my taste, although I loved this middle portion. I don't actually hate listening to the song as a whole, but this version with the middle part as the entire song is superior for me 😅
Omg are you me? We love the exact same songs and groups lol. But yeah, as someone who has also liked other “experimental” releases, this was just…not it, imo. The first and third part were so overwhelming compared to the middle section which is a lot more upbeat and cheerful.

Imagine NMIXX debuting with this song with the title "Superhero", and they have a superhero concept, they are all dressed into a superhero suit, the lyrics would mean something about how NMIXX will be there to protect you as their superhero. They would be like the superheroes of Kpop...That would be so cool, I wished they just debuted with that kind 😭
With all these "odd" songs coming out, mashups are starting to feel more and more like an official song format. Except the problem being these odd songs don't flow. They just have a bunch of concepts squeezed together forcefully and called a song. I personally really like O.O's prechorus and I thought they would stick with that sound after the first chorus. Creating a satisfying beatdrop with conflicting sound styles is a fine line between satisfaction and ear-grating. Unfortunately, a lot of experimental songs are falling into the latter. I know mashups have an easier time with songs already created, but the creativity is all the same.
Ironically, there are mashup channels that mix alot of songs of different styles and MAKE.IT.WORK. So what's the excuse of the so called professional companies for botching it?
Exactlyy I'm all for a good Mashup of different songs...but only if they match well and blend together. Some of these experimental songs make it too random and just end up making the listener confused or frustrated because they don't blend
I think one of the main reasons (amongst others) why the original song sounds so bad is because this 'superhero' part sounds like the beginning of a brand new song, it doesnt sound like the 2nd verse of one song, hence why it sounds so confusing. This sounds really good though! I hope JYP gets you to make their comeback song because they really need someone with musical sense to help them sound as good as we KNOW they are🙃

Many people are saying that this is their *genre* that they created by mixing different genres and honestly there's nothing wrong in doing that and many artist have done that before but honestly (my personal opinion) although it's a genre that they decided to take on im sure they could have mixed the genres without having so many confusing and messy parts, now I'm not hating on them they worked hard but like the producers honestly 💀

I'm not a musician but the sudden change of the melody/concept really threw me off and we only heard the superhero part once unlike sm songs with similar concept but they manage to make the melodies work with each other. So yeah, the song kinda grew on me now but it's not something I would pick to listen. I like Tank tho

Everyone has different taste, for me the original O.O is the best. This version makes me fall asleep after 1 minute, so predictable and boring as hell. Of course it may be "interesting" enough for the people who cannot handle bolder music lol

(and for the baila baila) I kinda dislike the intro of it, also why is there another lyric between Lily's prechorus and the chorus?? There's 3 different syncopation within 5 second and it makes me overwhelmed by the chorus.. pacing of the lyrics there really make me utterly confused on the first listen.

Their voices blended well with the music and it fit right and not “just because” we have to mix them in one. This presented their message even though majority couldn’t understand lyrics - the feel of the music is there. It won’t confuse you but make you interested instead make you question what is going on.

They just have a bunch of concepts squeezed together forcefully and called a song. I personally really like O.O's prechorus and I thought they would stick with that sound after the first chorus.
Creating a satisfying beatdrop with conflicting sound styles is a fine line between satisfaction and ear-grating. Unfortunately, a lot of experimental songs are falling into the latter. I know mashups have an easier time with songs already created, but the creativity is all the same.
Ironically, there are mashup channels that mix alot of songs of different styles and MAKE.IT.WORK.
So what's the excuse of the so called professional companies for botching it?
Exactlyy I'm all for a good Mashup of different songs...but only if they match well and blend together. Some of these experimental songs make it too random and just end up making the listener confused or frustrated because they don't blend
I think one of the main reasons (amongst others) why the original song sounds so bad is because this 'superhero' part sounds like the beginning of a brand new song, it doesnt sound like the 2nd verse of one song, hence why it sounds so confusing. This sounds really good though! I hope JYP gets you to make their comeback song because they really need someone with musical sense to help them sound as good as we KNOW they are🙃

Many people are saying that this is their *genre* that they created by mixing different genres and honestly there's nothing wrong in doing that and many artist have done that before but honestly (my personal opinion) although it's a genre that they decided to take on im sure they could have mixed the genres without having so many confusing and messy parts, now I'm not hating on them they worked hard but like the producers honestly 💀

I see what they tried to do but they cant just make a new genre of existing genres, especially if the song sounds like 3 different songs, that just means you smashed 3 different song with 3 different genres into one. SM is literally THE example for this, “I Got a Boy, Zimzalabim, Next Level, Savage, Sticker, etc.” but they do it WELL and they ARE the blueprint and vision for genre blending in kpop, JYP tried to copy it but they ended up making their debut song the worst debut song most kpop Stan’s have ever heard.
They work with 10 different producers just for this song. I guess each producer want different sound so they just mushed their ideas together 😂

I'm not a musician but the sudden change of the melody/concept really threw me off and we only heard the superhero part once unlike sm songs with similar concept but they manage to make the melodies work with each other. The way how you incorporated rap at 1:06 to this superhero song is SO MUCH better than it was with its original instrumental. It sounds off-beat there, but here it is so in harmony. Your talent in producing is unmatched

I just remembered there's a baila baila and how nice how nice and a weird gutair driven song out of nowhere sandwich between this baila baila. Ahem, in short yes, I agree 😂 I have to listen to 2 separate edits/remix of "each song" to actually catch on what the heck is happening, idk how to explain it.. It's just so weirdly mix and paced. (and for the baila baila) I kinda dislike the intro of it, also why is there another lyric between Lily's prechorus and the chorus?? There's 3 different syncopation within 5 second and it makes me overwhelmed by the chorus.. pacing of the lyrics there really make me utterly confused on the first listen.

Nmixx finally released the 2 full versions of O.O but this revamp is still my favorite, less messy.

Their voices blended well with the music and it fit right and not “just because” we have to mix them in one. This presented their message even though majority couldn’t understand lyrics - the feel of the music is there. It won’t confuse you but make you interested instead make you question what is going on.
