That's actually interesting especially that the growing popularity of AR and Mixed Reality devices this CES. Looks like consumer AR glasses are not too far off. Current HoloLens is basically just a Dev kit but its almost ready except for the field of view and battery. Software-wise seems ready and they are pushing that software to VR use.

As a proud user of a Nokia Lumia 925 (which has a pretty good battery), I have to agree with you. Could have been the perfect middle road between Apple and Android, but ended up more closed than Apple.
I am so glad to have a phone which is directly connected to my PC and laptop. All MS Office products run perfectly on the Windows Phone and I don't experience as much bugs as on my Android phone
I'm using a WP10 phone now, and by all means, it's a very decent and usable mobile OS. It just feels a bit hastily thrown together with no real sense of purpose however, and that's why I still have very fond memories of when I used WP7 (which I did for about five years), because that was an OS that was truly visionary. Arguably MS went too far with it and that restricted its market appeal, but for true ease-of-use and consumer-friendly design, nothing tops WP7.
Then you didn't know how to set it up properly. XP is the first consumer-level OS based on the rock-stable Windows NT. App-level code cannot bring down the OS. Only system-level code, such as bad drivers, can do that. Once you clean up all your drivers, and assuming your hardware works properly, the BSODs go away permanently. I've had an XP machine for over 15 years, often running for months without a shutdown for weather, going on vacation, or whatever. This OS does not crash.
Windows 1, 2, 3, 95, 98, ME are based on MS-DOS and Windows NT3, NT4, NT5 (2000), NT5.1 (XP) are based on the NT-kernel (mentioned in the video). The history about Microsoft's development of NT from OS/2 and the filthy war between IBM and Microsoft could have been mentioned as well. IBM OS/2 Warp was a more sophisticated operating system than the NT-versions in the 90's.
I remember spending a lot of time at the headquarters with my dad as he worked there at the time. Halloweens were fun!!! Always enjoyed the chocolate milk out of the vending machines. I still have Original Xbox games with MS employee stickers on them.
You should go into the Berkley Software Distribution. That's an interesting history topic and it's responsible for a lot of code that computers use today, especially OSX.
I'd like to see more of these. Go ahead and make them longer. Call them Tech Longies. If they are popular enough you can make a new channel about them. I often watch documentary style vids like these on other channels like, 8-bit guy, LGR and Gaming Historian. I don't mind seeing repeated content as they often have facts missed by others.
I think the history of videos are a great idea. I would love to see more. One i would suggest, would be the history of consumers general knowledge of tech? or history of standards wars, like what was competing with USB before it took over.

You should go into the Berkley Software Distribution. That's an interesting history topic and it's responsible for a lot of code that computers use today, especially OSX.

I'd like to see more of these. Go ahead and make them longer. Call them Tech Longies. If they are popular enough you can make a new channel about them. I often watch documentary style vids like these on other channels like, 8-bit guy, LGR and Gaming Historian. I don't mind seeing repeated content as they often have facts missed by others.

I think the history of videos are a great idea. I would love to see more. One i would suggest, would be the history of consumers general knowledge of tech? or history of standards wars, like what was competing with USB before it took over.
This episode was awesome, i don't think you guys should limit your content just because of the name of the channel. And yeah i want a tech longie episode of Microsoft, and even Apple or Samsung.
