The only thing i'm jealous about japanese schools are clubs... it looks wonderful to be able to share your passion and create things/events around it with other people at school with your same interests. At my school if you form a group to sing something to celebrate the end year they would laugh their ass off and they would tell us to do these things at home or anyways not at school... I mean, you can't even do simple things like this.
I LOVE your videos! Thank you for showing the sides of life most foreigners don't see. It is envigorating, motivating, inspiring and very educational, at least to me.
Oh God, can't really belive that in Japan's University there are all of this kinds of clubs and activities! Here in Italy, except in the Private University (which are really really expensive), there are no types of clubs or groups to do activities like that, promoted by the University, in the video. Ahhhhhh I knew that I was born in the wrong side of the world :V
okay...hello again. I`m strolling through your videos again cuz today was just...gloomy so i wanted to lightened up my mood a bit. The Arpeggio was amaing! I hope you had the full version of him singing..i love his voice!
Probably either the Dance Club or that last one. It looked pretty cool. I may or may not get to go on a University exchange this year, but who knows! It looks pretty fun.
nice video, it inspired me with that club thingy :) In Egypt we don't actually have that club formation part, only activities for people to enter and that's it :( what I'm trying to say, I feel that energy in that video...thank you :')
5:20 I think I watched an anime about this. Isn't it where the person reads out a part of a poem and the two people race to swipe the card that goes to that poem away
Wau~~!!! The first Arpeggio boys singers were really really good!!! They're like pro!! :D hmm... I think ((if I were even in Japan xD)) i'd choose the j-pop one you liked or the dance club ^^
Ive always wanted to see what the Clubs were like, they are alot more proffesional-ish than I thought they would be! I wish they had stuff like this in my country :> Thank you for this video :) I would join GhanaGhana or MMC ^^
The one club that you didn't know was call karuta! It's really good :) I would recommend watching chihayafuru, if you want informations in it :) and that's for the update, it's really interesting :)
May I ask how many clubs are you allowed to join? They all seem so fun! If I were there I would probably join MMC or the dance group. Maybe that interesting looking one, the girl with the purple hair.
!!!! That song/card game on the mat was Karuta! :D There is an anime on it called Chihayafuru (which I love). And holy crap that girl was fast! It's a super competitive memory game where you have to memorize at least a hundred poems. On the cards is the second half of the poem. The 'reader' (guy who was singing) reads the first part and your objective is to get the card with the correct second half. She got it after the first syllable! Though there were only a couple cards on the field. :)
The game at 5:16 is called uta karuta. They have cards where poems and parts of poems from Hyakunin Isshu are written. The guy is singing the poem and the players duty is to choose the card where the end of the poem is written as fast as possible. This traditional form where the card is hit with vigor is sometimes associated with new years.
Good video. Japanese students are very serious about club activities !!! When I was at university people just went to their lectures and then went home !
Dance! This is awesome. Thanks for sharing! Also, not sure if you've answered this or not, but is Kobe Uni something a person in college can transfer to and study abroad at for a year? Or would a person need to apply strictly for that Uni? Thanks!
I would totally do the juggling circle ^^ Going to go to japan this summer for an exchange student program :) Gunma Prefecture cant wait xD Keep up with the wonderful vids orangetummy! They help a lot!
It's a card game that uses 100 Japanese tanka poems (hyakunin-isshu). The reader (person standing) has a set of cards that displays the full poems where as the players' (people kneeling on the tatami mats) cards only reveal the last half of each of the poems. The reader begins with an introductory poem first and then after a pause reads the beginning of one of the (possible) 100 tanka poems in the deck. It's randomly selected. What's so amazing is- to play this game you need to have memorized all 100 poems first and to win you have to also memorize the layout of the cards on the ground AND be faster than the person in front of you. You get penalties if you touch the wrong card. There's more to the faults than I really could explain. I got introduced to it when I watched Chihaya-furu. It's a great anime; I'd definitely recommend checking it out!
For the one where the two people were on the floor with the cards, I saw something similar in a drama once. It's a game with business cards and you have to choose the right one. But the catch is that the third person says things about the cards in a weird way....so when it finally becomes obvious which card he's talking about, the players both kind of race to grab the card. At least that's how I interpreted it. Watching dramas without subtitles can be sketchy sometimes. lol
i seen your video like a yr ago and you where in high school now your in college? so a few of my buddies are going to japan in the next few yrs any advice on sweet places to visit? were otakus so yeah we wanna see all that giant gundam stuff and cool electronic stores with little Japanese gizmoes
i think the one that you don't know was called as haiku, if i recalled it back from a manga i read once, the gameplay was just the same- tbh, i dont really know. all the clubs look fascinating though!!
I would do kendo or archery. I can't handle memorizing 109 poems for karuta. While the dance clubs seem fun, I think I'll be too shy to dance it. And music clubs are a no unless they need a drummer.
5:35 , it's hanafuda ! you can learn more about it form watching the j-drama "nihonjin no shiranai nihongo", I forgot which episode exactly,.. but it's pretty exciting , watch it all ^^
That's AWESOME! Where did you go for high school at Gunma?? I'm going to Yotsuba Gakuenn secondary school in Gunma for the exchange.. Did you go there??

The one club that you didn't know was call karuta! It's really good :) I would recommend watching chihayafuru, if you want informations in it :) and that's for the update, it's really interesting :)

For the one where the two people were on the floor with the cards, I saw something similar in a drama once. It's a game with business cards and you have to choose the right one. I would join Kendo, the card one, and the cute one at 3:12 but the one at 4:21 looks lit
i think the one that you don't know was called as haiku, if i recalled it back from a manga i read once, the gameplay was just the same- tbh, i dont really know. all the clubs look fascinating though!!
I just get a bunch of religious clubs at my university in the U.S. It's so cool that you guys have cool clubs like archery!

They all are so amazing :)
5:24 is called "Hyakunin Issyu(百人一首)" precisely. The game system is same as Karuta. but "Hyakunin Issyu" is more difficult than Karuta.
I'd probably go for the kendo or iaido club if they don't have judo. Also i can't help but wonder who was filming?
I would definitely choose archery!! :)
I've always wanted to go for archery D: but sadly IM STUCK IN CANADA but I'm planning to go for exchange after highschool then apply for this university in Japan QuQ TIME TO STUDY HARD! WISH ME LUCK QAQ

Cool clubs and circles, I think if I were in your position I would choose the jazz club
Oh true. But I was thinking about high school color guard. I guess it's a mix..?
The ouendan looked really cool! =D
Wooo new vid!!! :)
I wish my University had clubs like these.
I would go with kendo and archery. They seem like fun!
