Hi Captain Matt! I was wondering about something. When you're flying as a passenger, do you have to tell the flight crew that you're an off-duty pilot in case they need a backup pilot in an emergency?
Great question! When I fly on my own Company, yes I do. I introduce myself to the flight attendants and pilots and let them know who I am, in case they need anything during the flight. When I fly on another company airline, I will just mention it to the the greeting flight attendant. It is always good to know who are able bodied passengers willing to help in case anything arises!

I usually do when I'm flying on my own airline, and I only know the pilots sometimes. We have a lot of pilots at my company.
