Stayed tuned. You’re gonna all sorts of stuff no trucker ever says. You can watch my old videos explaining publicly traded trucking companies quarterly earnings calls.
Let's not forget Embark and Tusimple were successfully running freight a couple of years ago. Both are defunct now. Both were larger than Aurora......who's stock is taking the same sort of trajectory that the others were before their ultimate failure...they have also experienced a round of recent layoffs.
They would make walmart or whoever to open doors etc. Hire ppl at truck stops to fuel. Like they do in NJ. I think those can be arranged however What about HOW MUCH does a camera or radar bs they use cost? Driver backs into one. Your truck can't go anywhere. Or bird hits it. The cost to repair. Back order on parts etc.
Trucks are fueled by the drivers in NJ. There are no full serve CMV pumps that I’ve ever seen. That’s partially due to how it’s paid for in terms of required info, which varies widely from company to company.
@timtravels116 I swore there was a place in NJ that was fueled by them. I may be wrong but either way I don't see this taking over any time soon. Maybe a few companies will partake but very limited areas and much investments
Not really, truck goes to building people take their stuff off, truck leaves. It'll be a mobile Amazon locker. It can all be done, that being said I don't see any of this happening any time soon, probably not in our lifetime.
There is no demand. There's simply explotation for those who have nothing else going on with then. Either get a new skil or expect your truck driver wage to keep decreasing.
@timtravels116 For general freight trucking drivers. There's literally a revolving surplus especially since foreigners are now in the game. It's done for. General freight hauling is comparable to a McDonald's job in the restaurant industry. Everyone can do. I've literally seen old grandmas hop out of a truck. That's who you're competing with. Specialized freight is the only way to be certain of a decent wage because not everyone else is doing it. Supply and demand. Who is your competition?
That’s strange. I drive by that dollar tree warehouse in Marietta Oklahoma every day and though the wall and part of the roof is gone, the racks are still standing.
Yeah I mean there's so many things that would have to be changed in order for that to work. and I have been in some docs that were so tight that I cannot imagine and autonomous vehicle doing it
There are systems that if they get close, and the truck is in neutral, that the truck could be dragged to the dock. But that equipment is expensive and requires constant attention.
@@timtravels116 OK so all the infrastructure or equipment or tools needed to put all this in place at a shipper or receiver who is going to pay for that and does that cost less than just paying a truck driver
Why do people keep saying they need to fuel. Why can’t they just instal bigger fuels tanks. These trucks are not going to be doing random deliveries the technology is not there. The ai trucks are for terminal to terminal companies like fed ex, ups, Walmart ext…
IDC if it’s going across the street it’ll need to be fueled. Fueling is a freebie that almost every company gets from their drivers. Only companies that pay by the hour compensate for fueling. Someone has to all the ancillary work.
Great video my friend I will just say it we will not see in are life time them taking over , just think how much it will cost there is no way company’s will not pay more to use them just saying,,
we dolly down and disconnect lol. i'd say "they are still gonna have a human in the truck to do all the little things like dolly down and disconnect/break seal open doors/set reefer temp/be the fall guy for "why didnt you take control during this situation, you're at fault not the company/ai" but then the truck still cant run forever, it'd still have to take a break for that human to get some sleep. i suppose they could say "yea just sleep while the truck is moving" but LMAO whos gonna be crazy enough to do that also push button landing gear would be so so nice, lmao. Shaw loads come to mind. Being in VERMONT at ben and jerrys in -15 degree weather WITH WIND trying to crank up stubborn landing gear woulda been nice to just let (and probably break lol) the automated stuff LMAO
First time there was a frozen landing gear it would burn the motor up. Or like when I had to have one leg cut off in Liberal. There’s no way an autonomous truck could drop and hook at National Beef.
I don’t really know if it’ll cut costs unless it’s scaled heavily. Right now, trucks can still roll even when systems go down bc the driver can override it, like lane departure or adaptive cruise control. That’s the unit level stuff. But also if my company’s computers shit the bed, I still can drive down the road, keep my truck and load safe, and pickup or deliver. But when every single vehicle relies on a network to operate, a system failure could bring everything to a halt. Just look at what happens when a radar at an airport goes down-no one moves an inch on the ground, planes are diverted that’re inbound.
@@timtravels116 Fair point. They can figure it out though. And they will. I think sooner than later, but that is a guess. The inevitable part is a devastating amount of jobs will leave.

I got a lease purchase. I signed maybe about a month ago and got two loads in two weeks. Now the company is saying to return the truck and I owe them 4,000. Is there anything I can do?
Dollar tree DC in marrietta, OK...direct hit. I had just talked with Hogan about a job on that account. Unbelievable. If that isn't a sign from God to exit this industry I don't know what is 😅
IDK enough about it to offer an opinion. I have a friend that’s a computer scientist that thinks widespread vehicle autonomous control is decades away.

I don't come across many truckers who include Occam's Razor in their lexicon.
You get a sub for that sir.

I totally sgree with you on this. We've been hearing about this autonomous truck invasion for at least a dexade now. Not happening anytime soon
Thanks for covering this topic !! I agree with your points - Aurora and Bidens statement still has me a little worried though
Good luck everyone...this fall is gonna be messy.
Build Back Better 🔥
Cheap freight rates AKA labor rate impedes roll out of expensive autonomous technology
Answer: as long as freight needs moved, drivers will be in demand.

In China, you have to scan a QR code to take a dump
You make some good points Terry.

There is drone footage on the Live Storms Media TH-cam channel showing exactly what I said. Perhaps you can stop by and walk around and verify it?
What company did you end up going with? I'm pretty sure I know but havnt met you yet drive safe driver
A long time because AI will get into crashes and because of that lots of legal issues

Will it cut costs? The corporations want it and they are working on it. Anything nay sayers say can end with "...yet. But soon."
And will these automations be implemented prematurely? Often with deadly results? Yes. Always have.

Both parties are full of corrupt liars. There's not a politician alive that gives a single crap about any of us.
