The most vulnerable talk I’ve ever given

In June, I had to privilege of speaking at
Generation Women to share my story of wising up.
Thank you for giving me the space the share this deeply personal story. This was incredibly difficult to get through, but I am proud that I was able to share my brother's story.
"Nothing can prepare you for the death of the person you love most in the world. You can try to understand death as much as you want, you can try to make peace with it, to philosophies it - but you can never truly hold the wisdom of it in the moment it happens.... It is, simultaneously the most human and the least life-like fact to acknowledge. But there is some peace to it, some wisdom to that knowledge."

I'm so sorry, my heart goes out to you.
I know it won't ever go away, but I am truly sorry for the suffering you all go through.
I am sending all my love & best wishes you all. You're all lucky to have each other in your lives. I've been through certain things before, similar but not the same, I understand.
But your story, whilst painful, is also beautiful & I think you're all wonderful.

Went through half a box of tissues listening to this. My brother is also non-verbal among other things. I worry of outliving him or that no one will be around to advocate for him should anything ever happen . I am glad you were there for your brother when it counted most
