This one was a little difficult because very little information is available on the topic. There's a lot of speculation and may even be straight up false information given here. There's no official lore, as far as I know. At the end of the day it's just a silly youtube video so should be taken with a grain of salt, or Swadian butter.
I use audio from different sources but they are taken out of context to create something new. Credits to where credits are due. No copyright infringement is intended.

In Islamic Spain, the primary sources of slaves for centuries were from SLAVIC or African captives, taken and sold through Europe/Africa before arriving in Al-Andalus. These Slavic slaves were called Saqaliba, an Arabic translation of the Greek "Sklaboi" the etymological origin of the word Slav. Anyway, these Slavic slaves were very often put to use as Mamluks just as the Turks were, and played an important role as an elite vanguard of the Andalusian armies. Several of these Saqaliba rose to become generals in the Emirate, and one named Mujāhid al-ʿĀmirī become the Sultan of Denia and Valencia after the Emirate's collapse in the early 11th century!
These Saqaliba were also common in Central Asia and Iran, before being mostly replaced by Turkomans after the conversion of the Rus to Christianity and the Seljuk Conquest of the 11th century.
Though contrary to the information presented, they were employed as both infantry, cavalry and mounted Turkic-style horse archers.
So there you have it, white slave warriors in the Islamic world and a history-based lore explanation for it in Bannerlord!
I never imagined Sturgians at Aserai...
Not information I expected to learn today but can't say I don't appreciate it.
Thanks for sharing!
Shoutout to Islam for producing several slave scholars, generals and kings.
History of slavery in islam is so weird... On one hand you have slaves privileged enough to make themselves kings, on the other hand you have the systematic castration, harems etc
@@mortache you mean you have the Ottomans
Ghulam or the Ghilman were the captured warriors of foreign enemies, the Abbasid Caliphate nobles had the habit of not trusting each other and armies raised locally, so they started hiring the prisoners of war, experienced foreign warriors with no race in the horse, or horse in the race, they weren't racists, anyway, the nobles and the Caliph specially, hired tons of foreign imprisoned warriors because they were "Loyal", few years later + upgrades and promotions and the "Loyal" Ghilman do an uno reverse card and topple the Caliph himself to put whomever they wanted in his place. They got too powerful, and because they were foreign they also didn't have the strongest ties to the land to let them, in simple terms, keep it unburned.
So the genius Sultans (some of whom were the aforementioned ghilman) decided they needed "More Loyal" soldiers, so they literally bought foreign children and trained them to be extremely loyal to their masters, aka the Mamluks, few years + uno reverse cards later and the Mamluks are the new Sultans.
In short, choose democracy, "he who is too scared to live without guards should fear his guards more than the other stuff he is scared of" said someone.
There were many other slave military governors who made themselves king. Gaznavids come to mind, there was even a black king in India named Malik Ambar. Sadly his sons weren't gigachads like him so his dynasty faded from history
@@mortache It was a trademark of the Islamic history for a slave or a eunuch to rise in power and take over his master's kingdom, maybe because of weak sons or faction, or too strong a character, to have a dynasty spring out of it wasn't rare too, actually the Seljuks were someone's men, the Auybids too, you just needed to get enough power behind you and doesn't matter where you came from, you are now in charge.
You forgot the most important episode, when the Ottomans - following Muslim tradition - kidnaped children as part of their tax on non-Muslims to raise as fanatically loyal slave soldiers...who eventually got too powerful and deposed the Sultan...about a half dozen times. Ah...tradition, it's important you know!
%democracy only works if everyone shares the same blood or cultural background.
51 % percent of muslims would vote to kill 49% that is of non muslims
yeah good luck imagining president of US without guards
love all these videos that you make from each faction
so thats why this vid took 2 month, 14 MINUTES OF MASTERPIECE!!!
Sorry for the delay. I'm doing this part time and I really don't know what I'm doing.
@@Accentrick np bro its still a good video
A problem the original Aserai have is that they’re a mixture of early and late Islamic armies. The light cavalry of the Rashidins are well known and represented with Farsis. But the Rashidins had heavy infantry that was able to hold off Byzantine attacks for three days at the battle of Yarmuk. Mamluks are based off the Ghulams from two centuries later. I honestly think the Mamluks should be made to be only recruitable from captured Khuzites to give them a more thematic element
I think you were referring to the Mubarizun, which were more of "elite" infantry rather than "heavy" infantry
My personal opinion: Women in the Achaemenid and Sassanid Persian army were mostly used as archers, mounted or not. Aserai women would probably be good in the same roles.
Yes
Wrong. The main requirement for being an archer is great upper body strength, which is the main disadvantage of female soldiers. Women on a battlefield could make great light cavalry or maybe pikemen though
@@imeantherearethedarktownsy5210 Yes, but it's not an insurmountable amount of strength. Less effective, maybe, but still better than going melee.
@@Accentrick The strength required to pull a warbow is much higher than the strength required to fight in a melee. Discipline and stamina are MUCH more important in melee combat, and pikes or long spears can be used by even very weak people easily.
@@imeantherearethedarktownsy5210 Nomadic composite bows were shot by women, and in pure melee average man will simply overpower an average woman. Persian and Turkic bows are completely different from an English longbow. I agree about the light cavalry though: Female horse archers existed in many nomadic societies(Scythian ones being the most famous), but generally whatever unit women are in, they're most effective if they don't engage in melee.
In case of Achaemenid Persia, almost every single soldier was an archer. They had 1-2 front rows of spearmen, and the rest had bows. Women can be strong(like Gina Carano in modern day), but it's a rarity, and you'll have an easier time finding an absolute unit for the front rows among men.
Also, in melee, infantry needs to be able to beat someone potentially wearing armor, and it requires great physical strength.
Dude this is incredible ! I dont usually find things funny but this was top tier
I am from Germany haha
And this one scene "Kannst du dir das nicht denken", made me laugh so much.
But the video in general is amazing.
Putting English translation in subtitle felt like desecration. These lines were simply too iconic to translate.
Can’t get over how excellent this is. (Audible applause in background)
Been waitting for another banger
Love the faction videos, hope you make one for Empire (and unite them to smite its foes) as well !
Quality video my guy, you put some effort into this. Keep it up :)
Great stuff homie
Excellent video once again

What a great video. Subbed!
great editing, great vid
Battanian origin for Mamluk suits to me. Altough most of the Mamluks were Turkic, with the rise of Golden Horde and its subsequent assimilition into Turkic "Kipchak(Kiptschak would be better if you know German)" sphere of influence from Mongol one severely hampered acquisation of Turkic slaves. So instead Eyyubids and later Mameluks of Egypt used Circassian slaves to fill the gaps. I am very well aware of Battanians imagined after real life Celts but "fiercely rebellious mountain folk" stereotype suits Circassians too.
Besides, Falx is Dacian and Rhomphaia is Thracian - so Battanians are a mishmash of different people.
I really enjoyed the inclusion of actual historical facts into the video.
Came for gold, stay for the content.
Gold?
This is actually a masterpiece
looking forward to the next upload
More of this kind of video please❤❤❤
nice editing
Historically Mamluks were not western slaves - they were usually from Turkic or Iranic stock - they were not slave in the way the west views slaves - they were taken in from early childhood provided excellent education and care along with extensive military training . In most cases Gholami or what you may considere “slaves” would receive a far better care than they would otherwise as peasants
Yes.
Love that videos 💕
Instant subscribe content🔥🔥🔥
this video is so good
This is amazing, what kind of mod did you use for those camel armors, cuz man you've inspired me to make a Camellord playthrough lol
OSA - Open Source Armoury
Greeat video!
This was great
Imperial troops next, the emperor demands it
No Camel armour yet for bannerlord, must be the "Open Source Armoury" mod.
Please i want more videos like this for other factions
Randomly came across your video and I LOVE IT. Did you use some mod to create these units, or is there a mod that lets you do something similar? I'd love to create some units of my own.
You can use "my little warband" to have custom troops in game I think
@@Accentrick Thank you so much. I just saw a couple of videos of it & it is exactly what I was looking for.
I was waiting fo the yeah boy chef!
I hope your disappointment is not immeasurable and that your day is not ruined?
GREAT 💛
Ahhh yes, the glorious vlandia artist returns.
Once you have 1 mil subs write hi to this comment plox :p
Man where are the other factions. This was entertaining
It is these moment that I say: “What’s up my nubian”
Nice video. Do you have a plan on what to do when the bannerlord content runs dry. also why the random german
aserai oval shield + mace is stupid good combo
Anyone who uses Jet Set Radio music is always a plus for me
That shit slaps.
Yes finally next is battania or the khuzait
Thinking of doing a community poll on it.
Are you planning to release the troop edits? Looks good
Yeeeeesssssss I’ve been waiting for thiz
Edit: holy shit he got camel armor
To be fair it's not his, it's from OSA which iirc complied it from another mod with permission.
Yes, I've credited the mod in description. I don't actually know how to do any modding myself.
Insane video quality, severely underrated.
Are these unit types actually usable as a part of some mod pack, or did you customize them solely in the making of the video?
That long beach griffy reference tho lmao
Another blessed gigabased video
Tuesday always comes soon for vlandians
good sir, where thou gotten thy chainmail hoody? love your vids btw
OSA - Open Source Armoury
this should be uploaded on nexus mods for my little war band
The mameluke beat dropped *hard*
I don't remember any female Aserai units and I don't see any in the unit tree.
Are such mods used in this guide which contains female units?
This is giving me serious Pilps vibes
Ok cool, but I really need this as a mod now!
Joooo where can I get those troop mods? I love ur troop variation 💀
It's not released. Yet.
Epic !
Tobey can't catch a break from camels😂
That was cool
were you using my little warband or another mod? if so could we get a download link?
This might sound stupid but what is the mod for these new "reworked" soldier? I've looked up open source armoury but doesn't see them mention soldier mod
lol i usually use mamlukes soldier the two handed soldier with axe or pike XD
would you ever make a troop tree mod ?
Yes
Funny and nice job , thanks for censor some of swear words , i appreciate :)
Is that what happens when you put cataphract armor on a camel?!????
wish this was a my little warband mod
there is anymod WITH that cool ass troop tree?
If there was I wouldn't be doing this. It's a work in progress.
@@Accentrick kool
Amazing. I absolutely love the random Pepe as well.
How do you get the moded units?
thats good
What is the source of that guy used at 7:30 in a meme? I can't find him damnit
It's Willem DaFoe.
Sick beats! My Taifa ancestors approve.
5:54 This doesn't look like a composite bow to me. I think this "just" a recurve self bow. Still need
The game is definitely lacking in details. Another thing you might notice is that they are using Mediterranean draw instead of thumb draw and also putting arrows on the wrong side of the bow.
how to train your khuzait?
So, I really want this game, but I have 1 main concern: how does it play on controller? Because I cannot for the life of me play games like this on mouse and keyboard. I've tried and I just can't wrap my smooth brain around it. Halo, Chivalry, Fallout... games like that. Moving around the overworld map will be fine; I play Total War and games like that, but the actual combat, and maybe more importantly, ordering your troops is what I'm curious about.
I've seen people complain on reddit about corrupt save files and crashing on consoles. Personally, I've only ever used a PC so can't comment.
Real life Mamluks win against battle mongols first time in history. They are a Slave first time then to be a warrior. For example most famous Mamluk is Baibars (Baybars) he was a nomad Kipchak Turk origin Egypt Mamluk Sultan. He win battle many tines against Mongols and Crusaders. They cant pass Egypt. Only Ottoman Empire was occupied Egypt Mamluk Sultanate.
The Aserai are armed? I'm sorry I thought they were just there to raid for quick profit and get tripple-stomped by all their neighbors.
why are the aserai speakin german tho
you should upload your troop trees in the workshop brotha
MORE MORE DAMMIT
Wow
What's mod for tripple arrow shooting?
I don't know just gave them really high bow skill and they went nuts. I think it was treated as some kind of bug for RBM as it was only noticeable in game version 1.0.1 + RBM. RBM is realistic battle mod.
@@Accentrick Wow, that's cool.
So thats not in base game?
I think it’s base game for the recurve bows, because I don’t have RBM but a while back in my Scythian campaign in eagle rising once my horse archery skill was pretty high I was able to do that.
@@raptorbrotherhood766 It still exists after 1.0.1 patch but It's not as fast as shown here.
👍🏽
Is that a mod? Ineed that shit
Just messing around. Don't have spare time to support a mod release.
@@Accentrick will you be able to release it as a mod at some point
even if it is not in the near future?
Mod name?
"small amount of cataphracts could be afforded" looks at parthians, and Romans who had thousands of the fuckers. but yea pretty expensive. your wrong about as well about horse archers werent trained to fire behind while riding. literally is called the parthian shot, why? because the parthians who were the succesor state of the persians who fought Rome during the wars since the 150 bc onwards til they fell and became abbasid empire.
Short answer - This not a documentary.
Longer explanation - I can't say I know much but from what little research I did from Wikipedia 😅 I've found that native Arabs and bedouin, who the aserai are loosely based on, didn't fully adopt parthian shot untill, like you said, the rashidun Caliphate had these Persian cities under their control. But there are no Persians in this game so I've not attributed parthian shot to the aserai. It makes the aserai faction more distinct from khuzait.
@@Accentrick didnt expect a answer not reply. Yea i am huge acient roman history fan so some things you said werent fully accurate but yes alot of what you said is based on medieval and early renni so people tend to forget the massive wars that shaped the region before the crusades and mamlukes who are some of the most badass looking troops after the romans and the cataphracts of parthia and Rome.
@@Accentrick good documentary of mixing real history and game lore.
