    This is great! Could you do a video about cleaning an oven? I recently moved into a new place and it's become my new personal nightmare.

    • @rajivsurendra
      @rajivsurendra  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You can coat the interior of the oven with the Bar Keeper's Friend paste (mix the powder with a bit of water and apply it to the metal with gloved hands) and then let it sit for as long as it'll stay wet. It'll help remove the crud, but you'll need to use major elbow grease.

    • @EnfinLibreNM
      @EnfinLibreNM ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A few years ago I purchased a Dupray Neat steam cleaner (Cost about $150). It's small and compact, but I've used it almost daily ever since. It is super powerful and cleans my oven incredibly well. It blasts off the grime. I don't allow the water to build up and mop it up immediately, but I've never used anything that's better. Then, if there are little pieces of crud, I'll use Barkeeper's Friend to get those off. I highly recommend a steam cleaner for those really tough jobs. (Oh and you can't believe how clean it gets windows...just don't use it in cold weather or it might break the glass.)

    Thank you for showing how bar keeper’s friend works. I lived in a semi modern apartment and my bathtub were getting hard to clean with baking soda and soap, etc. One day I gave a shot to those scrubbing bubbles but I hated the smell (got a minor allergic reactions) and it didn’t clean the tub at all.
    So I got a bottle of barkeeper’s
    Friend and finally tried first today. My old plastic tub looks so white and sparkly shiny ❤❤❤❤ Truly made my day. Thank you Rajiv🙏🏻

I miss products like Barkeeper's Friend and Fels Naptha bars, which are so great for hand-washing clothes or pre-treating before washing in the machine. And RIT Whitener for when white shirts get dingy. Hmm... maybe I need to see if Amazon sells and ships those things to Europe without having to sell a kidney to afford them.

    My partner is a professional house cleaner and I'm an extremely particular autistic person, between the two of us we have Opinions regarding cleaning. 😂 I wipe down the sink and dry around the sink, faucet, etc after every dish washing and scrub with Bon Ami regularly. Nothing makes me crazier than watching someone do the dishes and leave behind a dirty, messy sink! And I realize most people don't care - and that's ok too. But if you come over for dinner, don't worry about the dishes. 😉

    Rinse well, because the ingredients in BF are toxic. It's easy to remove the gasket from my drain plug, so I do that, too. The space in between is the worst. Slimy!
    I also do hand laundry in the kitchen sink. The bathroom basins are too small. And here's a tip: you can use a salad spinner for the spin cycle! It makes for quicker air drying.
    I bet the residents were shocked to see that clean sink. (The owner or manager even more so!) They probably thought it was new. It's not called Barkeeper's Friend for nothing.

    It may seem trivial to learn how to clean a sink, but I believe they should put your videos as a long term course in schools(as well as doing the taxes, saving money, investing,...). No one ever taught us to do laundry, wash dishes or everything else, etc. and we often learn them by trial and error and most of us do these chores in a wrong way our whole life.

    • @jgirldo2691
      @jgirldo2691 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      You have a good point. My mother had all girls and taught us everything she knew. Even our great grandmother and grandmother gave my sisters and I tips on cleaning, cooking and keeping a guest worthy house. My husband and I have one son and we taught him everything like making a bed, cooking, grocery shopping, and the importance of keeping his room and bathroom clutter free and neat. He learned how to do the laundry and even work in the yard and wash a car. On one occasion he went with some friends on vacation and at the end if the stay began cleaning up the rental home. His friends started calling him Martha Stewart after that and still use the moniker Martha now and again as a jibe. His girlfriend tells us that he's the best partner and shares all of the responsibilities of housekeeping, shopping and cooking with her. So at the least he has learned the importance of being a good partner. We also felt it was our responsibility to teach him fiscal responsibilities and brought him to the bank at a very early age to open his first savings/checking account. We taught him how to complete a deposit slip for his tooth fairy and birthday money. Then how to withdraw money and write a check to purchase something he wanted. We later taught him the pros and cons of debit cards. I have forwarded many of Rajiv's videos to our son to let him know how cool it is to be a successful, self-sufficient and creative guy. I hope Rajiv reach is far and wide and keeps expanding because what he is teaching, sharing and saying on his channel will make a difference in the lives of the younger generation. And...old girls like me just love everything about this dude!

    I was taught housekeeping chores as a punishment and a degradating job, so I never really enjoyed them, and as a result I was either miserable in a dirty house, or miserable in a clean house due to feeling I had done something wrong. Content creators like Rajiv or Auri Katarina have rewired my brain into finding them joyful and peaceful, so now my house can be clean without me feeling miserable about it, and actually enjoy the process and the results. I'm glad I found them, because my life is a bit brighter.

    I, also, have used Bar Keepers Friend for many years, and love it. This video is a perfect demonstration of keeping a sink pristine! As always, thank you, Rajiv! (PS: Your channel should be required learning for teens and young people, before going out on their own in life! You teach in such a clear and positive way, and bring real value to caring for a home to make it a haven, not a flop house!)

      I was thinking the same thing. I'm adding these videos to a playlist for my baby sons when they reach that age called "Man Training." These domestic skills are needed for all youth.

      I have had a playlist for my son for these skills. We watch a "life video" every night and reference our skills that we have learned. ❤ This is going on the list for sure. A task elevated with a kind, calm, male influence. Fantastic.

      I love your videos so much. I was excited to see Barkeepers Friend being in the spotlight. We used it for everything in the restaurant years ago, and I started using it at home, as well. It is fantastic for cleaning the copper on the bottoms of my pots and pans, too. They
      look like new with very minimal effort. The cookware was a wedding present I’ve had for 35 years, and they look like new.

      It is great stuff. Aussies see if they have something like it there. This is about as cheap as comet and last forever. There is something like "Pink Stuff", not popular or maybe not available here, un US. This is for mostly for cleaning copper, brass, any metal, but great for anything, and doesn't scratch. Search of equivalent. Should be less than 1 USAD or there about.

    Loved this video! I sometimes struggle with keeping a clean house as someone with depression, and it's so helpful to see ways to reframe household cleaning tasks as meditative, enjoyable self care. Seeing the way Rajiv cleans the sink and the pride and happiness that comes from having a sink ready to go for whatever the next day brings helps me to think about cleaning the sink at the end of the night as something more than an unpleasant chore to be avoided. Time to go buy some barkeepers friend 😊

    I think people don't know why it's so special. It's not the same thing as Ajax or Comet. It's not a bleach-based cleaner. It has oxalic acid in it. I use it to clean my enameled dutch oven when it gets stained. You can use it to clean your oven racks and even the inside of the oven door if you don't scrub too hard, just make a thinnish solution of it and spread it over the door and let the oxalic acid do its thing. Amazing stuff.
