Still the best air combat sim ever made.
Rule of the Me 262: Always keep the airspeed above 600km/h and don't do sharp turns because Mustangs and Thunderbolds are always trying to make a shortcut to you.

Yeah man its so annoying when a pair of them form up behind you you need to keep fliying straight for a while until you can turn back to the bomber formation

It reminds me one of the last combat missions flown by Adolf Galland in his JV 44 in April 1945. His last victories were B-26 Marauders.

It’s amazing what 4 x 30mm cannons can do, pretty devastating…..good thing for the Allies that the 262 arrived too late to effectively alter the air war…
The wave of japanese attacks until Midway are a nice content, do you agree? Heroic defenses, deadly attackers, nice unusual planes...
Thankfully the American 8th and 9th Air Force were infinitely smarter than IL-2's AI. I've enjoyed the game for years but the AI is laughable.
Bet the Germans wished they had as much fuel as you had !!!.

The B-26 is a mod, it's not in the vanilla game. I stated the mods i used in the description.

There's some funny "funnel?" in the nose of the Me 262 at the beginning of the attack,, and there's some kind of "blind" over the stern of the B 26 shortly afterwards?

How does attacking from above where contrails give the bombers a massed-fire target compare to attacking from below where the Me's camo might help it? Same slashing attacks but from below?
You cannot sneak up on AI gunners. In IL-2 it's better to have the highest possible closing speed. Real tactics involved coming in from below, to lower closings speeds in order to have time to fire, but that's not the best in IL-2.
Cool. I guess IL2 gives us the best idea of what the bomber crews must have experienced. Must have been very scary.

Yes, they bloody do. Statistically you neeeded 3 Mk 108 hits for a heavy, not even a medium.
@@Fishyyy The confetti appearance after disintegration of the bomber is what gives it that unrealistic feel. Bombers did not disintegrate like that. There's a famous up close clip of a B25 getting it's wing root hit directly by flak and it did not disintegrate into confetti like pieces. But 30mm MK108 shells will absolutely wreck bombers. There's lots of test footage of it. One of the clips shows a bomber cut in half by a single 30mm hit.

An easy mistake a pilot can make is to control the fast plane with the center control column. When you do that, you'll induce drag and slow the plane fast, causing the overcontrol hence the wobble. Set the trim and control the pitch with your throttle and it will be easy peasy to control the plane at high speed..
