  • A bit uncommon for an HS40 (small frame 4hp) Tecumseh equipped with a charging, not lighting, system. This was a specially made version for Roper Corporation for a street legal version of their mini bikes that came out for the 1971 model year. They offered one with a 5 hp medium frame (H50) that had a frame mounted tank and one with the HS40 with an engine mounted tank. this is the latter of course, What's even better is this is the Very FIRST one that Tecumseh made for Roper/craftsman to build and setup the bike with, Hence the "EXE" stamped tag rather than a 143 # . This has been fully rebuilt internally, multi angle valve seat recuts, Valves refaced, Head and deck trued, cylinder rehoned/squared and deglazed, micro polishing on journal surfaces, etc... Orginal Automajic cast Carb was also rebuild and corrected of wear. This would have also been on of the first engine to get the Taylor spark arrestor exhuast Time to prep and paint and get it back to the original owner to put back on his childhood bike that he was lucky enough to get from a well connected at Sears Corp family member back in '70!!!
