    Man I was a kid when this show was on TV. I watched it with my mom and her bf at the time. Dan Fielding was a total dog but definitely likable. My favorite was whenever Harry's dad would be in an episode bcuz he would say the most random things that made everyone stop and look at him, to which he would smile and say, "But I'm feeling much better now." To this day I'll say that line around people and so far no one connects the reference.

    • @Griezz
      @Griezz ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Harry's dad was played by John Astin, best known for being the original "Gomez Addams" on the original TV series, THE ADDAMS FAMILY. Between Gomez Addams as Harry's dad & Harry's love of Mel Torme, the show was pretty deep in and respectful of nostalgia.

      As a 12 year old boy getting a taste of puberty I had a wicked crush on Markie Post, and I’m sure I wasn’t the only boy that did. The only other woman I had fallen in “love” with when I was a boy was Lori Laughlin. I saw her in the BMX movie Rad and she was in a dead heat with Markie as my girl. May Markie Post RIP.

      Would've been more if Spiner hadn't
      signed on as Data in TNG.
      If everyone is brought back for the reboot,
      Bob & June's little daughter would
      now be grown (presumably with a husband

    • @BJETNT
      @BJETNT 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I noticed that too. I'm not Asian I'm about as wide as they get even have German descent. Doesn't matter where I came from it just matters who I am. That's what I believe anyway. It amazes me how a little Asians were actually famous back then and on TV. I think there were three main guys and they were in all the movies that required Asians. Pat Marita being one of them James Wong the guy that played David Lopez in Big trouble in Little China and the other one that was on die hard there was eating the candy. He looks mongal though I don't think he's Asian I honestly don't know but those were the main guys that you saw on all the movies with Asians in them that I remember.. try watching the old bugs Bunny and Elmer's fun cartoons you want to talk about racist! I'm actually the first generation of my family that's not like that. And I have more reason to be that way than anybody but I'm not. Being racist is the sign of an uneducated weak mind to me. Hollywood was no exception

      If I remember right, that was Rosalind Chao, who also showed up on "M*A*S*H", and "Star Trek"'s "Next Generation", and "Deep Space Nine" as Keiko (forget her "maiden" name) O' Brien, marrying Transporter Chief Miles O'Brien, and "bearing" him two children: Adorable little Molly (Hana Hatae), and a son.
      You are right about Asians getting a "raw deal" (although, in "Looney Tunes" defense, it was wartime, and a lot of the cartoons reflected that (Germans came in for their share, too; one cartoon featured Hermann Goering, and Adolf Hitler hiding out in the Black Forest; with Goering hunting Bugs, and at the end, Bugs escapes, as Josef Stalin; "Has your tobacco been tasting different, lately").
      I liked Noriyuki "Pat" Morita, but especially in the "Karate Kid" Movies, especially, the second one. Morita had the right idea about karate; didn't know if it was his, but, "Karate, for defense only!".

      This, Taxi, Barney Miller…….one incredible show that ended with a horrible cliff-hanger…..especially for a comedy….”Soap” left Jessica Tate standing in front of a firing squad unless my memory is off(?) 👀 also, it only had I believe 4 Seasons….😢
      Then there were a few sitcoms that were more than just laughs….trying to send some message…..occasionally touching on social and/or political issues of the day….funny (or…stupid⁉️) that some of those shows…..trying to “improve” or educate or just “open the eyes” of how crazy and/or stupid people are about things like for example: All in the Family showed (or “exposed⁉️”) a lot of how ignorant racism is…..and Sanford & Son, too….showed that racism works both ways…..All in the Family is looked on today as BEING racist-ish and is hard to find in reruns and/or is heavily censored in parts that are, IMHO vital to the very meaning of the “garbage-thinking” they were trying to expose……long as I live, I will never forget Sammy Davis Jr. kissing Archie on the cheek‼️ 😂…..another stupid “belief” due to the show was that Carroll O'Conner was deemed a racist due to the character he played when he was anything but…….(my wife's father thought that All in Family was made FOR HIM…..and his……”less than brotherly love” views on POC…….not sure how he…or anyone could miss the show was mocking the ignorance of racists…..but clearly, censors if today reflect their “missing the point” at least, IMHO again….but most all my friends “get it‼️”
      Namaste 🙏🏽

      @@alanr.wehmer5692 When a show starts to peter out, they always pull a Fonzi-esque "Jump the Shark" gimmick, from the marriage between Maxwell Smart and 99 to your aforementioned gimmicks. Gimmicks don't work on an audience. They smell blood and abandon the show for something new. It's a shame. A sitcom ought to go out in a blaze of glory, or a setup for a full length movie. This was a great series all around. I have the first season on DVD and would love to acquire more. The actors are irreplaceable. Still looking forward to the reboot to see what Dan is up to now.

    I love how whenever Mel Torme makes an appearance, Harry Stone (Mel's biggest fan) always unintentionally treat him like crap. :D

    I just remember watching and enjoying it during my youth, then being truly impressed that John Larroquette played Maltz on Star Trek III alongside Christopher Lloyd. Brent Spiner was the best recurring character. the later seasons were a bit more campy in my opinion but still good for some laughs.

    I own all the seasons on DVD! I watch the entire run about every 6 months. My favorite episode? I have so many. I really enjoyed the one where Dan was plagued by a guy dressed as Satan himself. I also enjoyed the 2 parter of the going ons from previous seasons., where they were being held hostage by a "nut". My favorite Mel Torme episode was where they kidnapped him so the judge could meet him. The episode with Florence was when her biker friends picked her up for a ride. I also liked the Russian guy episodes, talking about Milwaukee. These are but a few of so many episodes worth noting. Of course, the last episode of Bull beaming up with the two constant complainers, was a fun touch. I could ALWAYS count on a good evening when it was on. Luckily, I still can.

    That's why loved Night Court and others like it. It didn't try to deal with government issues or people being offended all the time. It was just pure funny and allowed us to just have fun and forget the world outside

    My most favorite character on "Night Court" is Judge Harold T Stone (Harry Anderson). The next would have to be Bailiff Nostradamus Bull Shannon (Richard Moll). I always felt that I was denied the proper conclusion to my "Night Court" for I have never seen their appearance on "30 Rock".

    The Night Court episodes were all taped at Valencia Studios in Valencia right next to Terminator 2 and Robocop 2, and Total Recall, etc. Those were good times. I was in charge of sales for Valencia Studios at the time. I would visit the set of Night Court and see how things were going. Good times indeed.

    So many starting with the Pilot episode on how Harry explains how he was picked for a Judge, or when Dan goes into a Coma and Bull teaches him Spanish. It was so funny when he comes out and he is yelling at everyone and starts to speak in Spanish.
    Or the constant guests that would show up from Mel Torme to Lou Ferrigno. I don't know how to just pick one.

    Since I found it on Freevee, I binged it , and noticed a lot more than I did as a kid watching it... It didn't shy away from topics like trans people, gay people etc. Especially for a show in the 80's
    Also to see the characters go through things that change and develop them... The show is so good

    One of the very few TV shows that my late wife watched. No particularly favorites that I can remember, but we had a tradition that started a couple of seasons in, we would get up and dance to the theme music, real bump and grind dirty dancing.
