    This one is one of my favorite synths in my setup. Its architecture makes it intuitive yet it really needs exploration. I love how you don't know fron the start what everything does! The "pads offer some really interesting performance chioses to if you're creative on your approach. I wish we had more synth makers that push the limits of what an electronic instrumemt can be

      yes and if one just applies little imagination and clever use of post processing , the skies the limit to sound generation especially in our much blessed world of audio plugins and sampling abilities. Traditional or atonal music, sound collages can gush out of this extraordinary instrument

    I had a Lyra 8. Gave up on it. Traded it in for a Tom Oberheim SEM and FutureRetro touchplate keyboard. In retrospect, I ought to have kept it because it can make sounds that other synths just can't. I think streaming it's output into a DAW could give you the basis of some truly powerful music. Capturing its output is mandatory, if you ever want to retrieve something you like. No presets, and very difficult to dial up a sound you remember you liked in the past. All that said, I've got my eye on Soma Labs' next big release, the Pulsar-23, a drum machine like no other.

    Thanks for sharing this strong performance. The problem with this device is the missing possibility of integrating it in a setup (no midi no cv). For me the only approach was using the lfo of the Lyra as clock to sync a Minilogue (Lyra headphones -> Minilogue sync in). The result was poor. Maybe there is a tool to manage the connection.

  • @Temporalmixproductions
    @Temporalmixproductions 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So I guess the tune function is to apply different notes to the different voices, and that's how you are getting different notes/melody/harmony? There are two metal circles per voice. What is the difference between touching one, the other, both? What does sharp do? I guess you can only modulate half the voices and apply mod to the other half? What do the numbers above the LFO switch mean? I'm not even interested in buying this necessarily, but I'm definitely curious.

      Strange Oscillator how much do these run? I need one.

    • @0Fdigital
      @0Fdigital 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HotStrange I think saying that the Blofeld can do most of these sounds is kinda missing the point a little. The Lyra-8 (as with all other Soma instruments) is made to be played like a weird physical instrument, and the interaction of all the parts together can result in sounds way beyond just programming an ambient pad sound on the Blofeld (don't get me wrong, I love doing this on my Nords too).

    going off this, it looks like you have 8 pads, each pad is set up for a certain frequency and timbre, so you basically get 8 notes unless you start messing live with frequency knobs?

    • @MrScarabey
      @MrScarabey 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no, every pad has it's tuning knob (look closely), 1-2 are more suitable for bass, 7-8 fo high notes, but you can tune them anywhere in between

      I sometimes use the Lyra for stabs or other embellishments. You can also use the delay section and the LFOs to create some ostinato bass.
      I have tried to tune the 8 oscillators into a kind of scale, but that was very difficult and took away the fun.
