    Been chasing this code for about 2 years now lol. Might have to follow the PCV lines right to the intake next. Runs well except at wide open throttle.

    I have 2 supercharged f150s best thing to do is clean all vacuum lines, spray tire wet on all hoses and look for air bubbles. Most hoses that are rotted will suction on throttle

    Love my OBDLink MX especially for newer vehicles since theres more diagnostic tool available for them.

    The regulator increases pressure when vaccum is low to boost the fuel for acceleration, so its working properly.

    Unplug neg battery term
    Turn head lights on
    Run a jumper cable from unplugged neg terminal to positive and wait 20 min
    That will reset everything

    Exactly what my car did two days, ago after I revved her up she struggle to stay idling but ran perfect while driving, all because the regulator closes while driving, and open while idling, yup had a tear in the rubber peace/plunger, when I pulled my vacuum line fuel came pouring out of there and feeding back to my intake manifold and feeding the cylinders extra fuel, yup changed this out two years ago. China junk but the thieves charges us more for these 2.00 dollars parts.

    My 2002 f150 5.4 threw these codes AFTER I took it to the dealer to have my valve cover gaskets replaced. They claimed they could "fix" it for $2900.

  • @EarlGuyton425
    @EarlGuyton425 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    You never needed the fuel pressure regulator at all. The 4.6 and 5.4 engines run at 24 to 29 when engine is idling.. The way to know if the regulator is bad is by shutting the engine off and the rails to hold the pressure. Your lean codes are being caused by a vacuum lineleak at the PCV hose between the rear of the throttle body or a stuck open purge valve

    Spark plug wires, new coil, new plugs then, if that doesnt do it, then its a sensor

    I got my fuel trims as close to 0 as possible on my 98 Ford E250 4.2 l V6 Essex engine I had to replace intake gasket cap off EVAP and PCV lines replaced leaky brake booster and use alot of fuel cleaner and MMO now it's about as best as possible

    I don't think that will help you but go ahead put a fuel monitoring pressure gauge on there but I don't think that's going to help your problem. This problem right here is a very hard problem to chase. I've been there. I've done that. I spent a lot of money chasing it reseal the intake. Did all that still have the same code even took it to Ford. After a lot of money there still isn't resolved and they said you know what no refund they actually told me we don't design them. We just try to fix them. It seems to be a common occurrence on the 4.6 5.4. I don't think Ford could even fix it if they do. You may as well just buy a new truck when you're done because that's what how much it's going to cost you

      Yes. I got a smoke machine and found that on my 97 there is a rubber elbow way in the back of the intake manifold pointing at the firewall that had degraded and turned to goo and was leaking. Pita to replace but that fixed it. Thanks!

    I don't know what for done with Explorer in these year models through I don't know 2,000 2001-2002 minded 2002 anyway and it's got over 300,000 miles on it as well they done something right during this time not saying things will have to be fixed I mean that's just car things break down but 300,000 miles still running strong that's pretty doggone good

    Did you hear me saying vacuum leak? Lol Your Short term FTs are not bad (single digits plus or minus). Your LTs are telling the story. High teens (+17) and when you increased the RPM the LTs normalized. Indicative of a mild to moderate vacuum leak. Next video.....the reveal please. Thanks Aaron.

    • @aaronsrose
      @aaronsrose  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol. I'm wondering if the leak is under the dash in the hvac controls. I douched the whole engine compartment down with a half can of ether and it never even so much as twitched. If I can find the vacuum source for the hvac in the engine compartment I'll block it off and see what happens. Thanks again!

      Smoke machine is forthcoming, though that may not be my biggest problem. This morning it started fine but would stumble and misfire when trying to lightly accelerate. Plus at 70F ambient there was a significant amount of visible moisture from the exhaust. I might need to cobble together a leak down tester.

    Did you ever pull the the battery neutral for about 15-30 mins to clear your trims and perform the Ford relearn cycle? Process is in the manual if you have it..If not, highly recommend after swapping out any air/fuel related parts & solenois.. Also check for manifold ticks (noisey lifter sounds until manifolds warm up) or any exhaust leaks before the Cats, and full EGR system, etc..Hope this (limited) info helps someone..

    That is exactly why farmers no longer buy Fords Ford has lost the farmer which meant a lot. Farmers do not no longer trust Ford you cannot work on them by yourself. You have to take them into the dealership. Farmers do not make that much money. Do you know how I know? Because I live with farmers we will never buy a Ford truck ever again again. In the past it was always a Ford truck but the hell with that you have to take it into the dealership and farmers. We don't make enough money to do that. We keep America fed but we can't afford to pay forward $5,000. Every time we take our truck in there's no way Ford you need to get your act together. Seriously get it together

    I dont understand the statemebt cant work on Fords? I mean i wouldn't buy a new ford no matter what and this is a 20 year old vehicle and very eary to work on woth 318k miles...well not easy but a lot easie than any new car. Are GM made any better? Even Toyota starting to show unprecedented quality control problems. Really its all the emissions standard ls making engines less and less reliable.
