This one made me laugh and cry. The bit about the size of your box made me cackle out loud. Thank you for that!! I know you turning your backside to the fire is an odd reason to cry, but it made me think of a friend from childhood we lost recently. One cold night when I was about ten, my sister and I were at our friend's house having our own little preteen goddess workshop with she and her Mum. Her Mum said one sure fire way you knew a real down to earth woman was if she was smart enough to back her bum up to a warm fire, versus facing the fire and delicately holding up her hands to the flames. I've never hesitated to back my bum up to a fire since. Thank you for bringing up the warm memories.
@SMG Yes, they are. The formal garden has the circle inside and the square on the outside. Although both of them will have the opening to walk through, that kind of breaks open the circle and the square.
Hannie your Annalise haircut looks fabulous ! Keep corners on fountain garden looks more formal. Isabelles haircut by Annalise is looking fab too, I want to see what kind of haircut she could do for Cat and Nat next
Find a wood or metal bowl - there must be something suitable kicking around there - and drill a hole in it for the wiring to disguise the electrics in the chandelier. Fix to ceiling then paint it. You could even drill through a ceramic bowl actually.

Have you considered stone benches on each short side around the fountain to punctuate the lavender hedge - I think it would be more attractive and more comfortable seating than just the edge of the fountain. I would also suggest stone curbing along the box hedge, and perhaps even the lavender, to prevent gravel from migrating into the bed(s), as well as to define the bed and hold mulch in place. Will also enhance view from above. Obviously more money. Dan's design is superbly well-proportioned! Do not cut the corners - the square is metaphysically significant with the octagon of the fountain.
Wow I haven't posted on here in a while! But I have to say....I LOVE PHILIP. He is another wonderful addition to Lalande with such a gentle and creative soul; very similar to Selmar..must be a dutch thing lol. The box hedge around the fountain with the sharp corner edges is going to look lovely from the bedrooms 😀Dan is brilliant 😉i love the chandelier in the hallway,😃well done again 🤗🤗🤗

Another serene vlog. I think Marie should open the workshops for people to come for a weekend and explore their inner selves. It sounds like it's certainly worthwhile especially in such clam surroundings.💐💐💐🕯🍁🍂💋
If theres already live wires in the ceiling for a light fitting ,my question is why use the middle piece to connect chandelier should be able to connect chandelier, wires directly too ceiling wires use two butt connectors and tape off with electrical tape then you can conceal with light fitting cover over. eliminating the soldering the extra middle piece
Not only that, he didn't connect the earth wire. The whole thing looked awful and the internal soldered connections were never designed to be wiggled around like that. Doing that could easily have left a high resistant joint., which they are now planning to wrap some decoration around.
Please get Dan get a mini digger to help dig the ground ... A ditch witch? "I think that's called flouncing" haha! Nooo! ... Is Ian the electrical engineer leaving? Angular is better than rounded for the land around the fountain to replicate the shape of the building behind it. Mummy, " She's a twister!" :) I think the apple didn't fall far from the tree. ❤️
I was watching how you have put up the chandelier and as an electrician I did notice that the earth wire was not connected which is a no no you definitely need an electrician to visit as a volunteer even just to sort out the chandelier
My son, also an electrician, would have had concerns about this setup. Yes, Barry, it would be wise to have a certified electrician. Electricity is just too powerful and must be done carefully for the safety of occupants. Also, did they use electronic grade silicone?
I just sold my moms estate in South Carolina. The problem over the years was that a lot of people touched the wiring. To close the sale I had to go through the whole house, from top to bottom, fixing everything people have touched. I was shocked to see a dangerous situation. So I would agree, ask an electrician, hopefully a volunteer, to go through the switches, fuses, plug ins, junction boxes, to make sure there will be no future sparks. But the lighting fixtures makes the space. I am a big coward when it comes to electricity, I know nothing. Keep up the good work.
@@TheBusinessAdvisorPodcast Poor or old electrical wiring which has been McGyvered over the years can be insidious. My son has told me of many stories where upon entering walls to find a singular problem, he has found that there had been fire and burnt wire still connected within the walls. That's great. Even if he's not the one, it helps to be dating. For some reason, it seems it helps prepare for the real thing and more men become attracted to us when we r dating.
Chandelier: Please do not use fabric to hide the "rig" near the ceiling. Fire hazard! Selmar could fashion a wooden "cone" with the wide end at the ceiling, tapering down to the brass fitting. It could be painted the same color of cream as the walls/wallpaper and embellished with gold paint. I think that would look lovely!
I just love Isabelle's little side comments. lol "We don't have a chandelier in the dining room, but we have one at the foot of the stairs." Makes me laugh.

I can’t wait to see how the new project turns out!!! I’m so excited for what Dan will do with the courtyard!!! Also, I love the new chandelier in the entrance! Really special moment when all of you came together the lift each other up with Marie!
Stone benches at each opening to sit at while enjoying the fountain would be great. Snipping the edges of the pattern would compliment the shape of the fountain base...
Stephanie and Dan, I watch a lovely gal on Garden Answer- TH-cam in the US and she has lots of boxwoods in her massive gardens. Please take a look at her June Garden Tour//Garden Answer from June 15th, 2019 at 14:25 she has a beautiful example of what I think you are going for around your fountain, only squared off. I hope you will see this note and it is helpful. Love all the work you are showing us. Thank you for taking us along with you.
Loving the new layout Dan's doing for the fountain -so much nicer grander bigger! Like you are adding another layer of flowers (Lavender) for the boarder.
The chandelier is hanging by two soldered wires seems unsafe. My chandeliers have hooks screwed into ceiling beams, so they hang there. Not by their wiring. I would recommend the extra hook. The chandelier can't fall while electrical work is being attached. I made them for my daughter's wedding. The electrician wired them so they were easily hoisted high in the air above the guests. The chains had extensions with easy ways to secure them to the beams, and there was no worry about the wiring. He wired them as appliances. A cord at the mezzanine level could be plugged in at the chandeliers, zip tied to beams over venue. The Japanese zig zag stagger hedge in the Japanese garden here. There is a French garden channel on TH-cam.
Studied how the chandeliers were wired. The chandeliers started as two three foot mirrors with 480 lead crystals hanging from each with three candle flame light bulbs hanging between the mirrors and crystals. I hung the crystals like earrings around the outside of the circle, and got all the parts from an architectural antiques dealership. No electrician would wire it for me. The man who sold me the parts, looked like my uncle, an architect/artist genius. He came to my house, and both of my kids came home, and agreed he was a duplicate of my uncle. He linked three chains around the outside equal distance, to a central very long chain to extend 20 ft from chandelier. Then he wired everything instantly, like my uncle could work, the genius was in his hands. He wired the three bulbs like a lamp. I had planned to remove all 960 of the crystals for the 700 mile trip to the venue like earrings. He said not necessary. He made tubes of towels between the crystals and mirrors, putting them facing up in the backseat of a giant 8 year old Tundra I bought for the trip. My daughter wanted no alcohol at her wedding, having lost her most beloved childhood friend who was driving 80mph in a 20mph zone, drunk out of his mind. I bought a truckload of Topo Chico, Mexican sparkling water. My son showed up at 10:30pm. I drove across Texas all night while my son slept. The Tundra was so amazing. At the venue, they hoisted the chandeliers up with a telescoping lift, and plugged them in within ten minutes. They were stunning, and lit up perfectly. Found out the man who wired the chandeliers was also a architect/artist, who lived on the same street as my uncle before he died. In awe of the miracles witnessed to make my daughter's request for two huge chandeliers for her wedding, I am now in awe of the miracles of six grandchildrens, since my children waited til mid to late 30s to marry. Stephanie et al, you marvelous love of life, and laughter, food, family, and friends, is inspiring. Best of Best to All!
I like how large the area around the fountain will be. It needed to be more grand! I agree with Isabelle that the best should be filled with all kinds of greenery for a year round garden look. Roses mostly stems. Stone benches on each side? Instead of sitting on the fountain rim. Chandelier looks beautiful.
I think square edges in the courtyard would look more grand and fitting but that's just my thoughts. I do feel for poor Dan though as that seems like back breaking work I would say get the poor man a digger for the day like others have suggested. Can't wait to see how it all looks, everything is moving at great speed. Exciting 😊
Excellent video as ever Stephanie . Trojan work Dan . I'm loving Marie back in the videos . Wondering what's Selmar working on now . Great crack as ever with Kat 🤣
To hide the wires on the chandelier, use a soup can as a cylinder, cover with fabric or paint it gold. The cylinder should be flush mount against the ceiling.
I really think you guys need to watch garden answer. She does a lot of great things and has a huge property with beautiful gardens. You can get inspired by each other.
When We had to fit French Chandeliers in the Yves Delorme shop in the UK we used cardboard tubing to hide the hook and fittings and painted it to match the ceiling .
Stephanie you should have Selmar build a wooden box to hide the wires or turn a wooden decorative base to hide them. Much better than fabric that will collect dust.
Just love you ALL and its always fun watching this workshop but have to say the one last year was a bit more fun 😆............ Great to see all the work done here as well. Really nice to see the entry courtyard being spruced up. It did not have any charm before. So much progress.
Pendant une fraction de seconde, j'ai cru que les paons sur le muret d'entrée étaient des sculptures !!! 😄 Très joli projet autour de la fontaine ! Vivement la suite ! Bravo à tous !

Hello Lalanders!
You can't beat a bit of flouncing
x
Stephanie you are so fortunate to have such a wonderful team at the chateau. Such lovely lovely people ❤️🙏
I’m so glad no wild animals have gotten to the peacocks. They make me smile
Please get Dan a digger, and a helper before he begins. :0O
Yes amen!!!😁
I can’t wait to see how the new project turns out!!! I’m so excited for what Dan will do with the courtyard!!! Also, I love the new chandelier in the entrance! Really special moment when all of you came together the lift each other up with Marie!
Stone benches at each opening to sit at while enjoying the fountain would be great. Snipping the edges of the pattern would compliment the shape of the fountain base...
I once attached a clear, round, Christmas bauble to the bottom of a chandelier for that extra something look
Again a Lovely video full of beautiful progress and my favorite part was the Goddess atelier! :)
Definitely corners
Nite all. Lovely to see you all again. I sure miss u during the rest of the week.
The fountain needed something bold. I cannot wait to see if it honors the beautiful. Glad to see someone take it on. It’s major. Good luck!!!!
I agree with the comments of others re the chandelier wiring. I really think Stephanie needs to get a qualified electrician to install it safely
Re watching in December 2020 - we miss Hanni. Love the Chateau Diaries.
Love Marie shes Lovely x
La Lande, a place filled with 💖🐣😃
Enjoyed. The chandelier is very nice. I love the proper fountain landscape design and agree square corners is best. Great fun! Love to all ❤
So excited to see the courtyard completed! Helpful hint about the weeds, boiling water will kill the weeds in the gravel without chemicals or pulling!
Adding salt to the boiling water makes it an even more powerful weed killer.
FIRST IMPRESSION IS THE MOST IMPORTANT!!! THAT'S WHERE THE CHATEAU IS LACKING!!! GLAD TO SEE YOU'RE DOING SOMETHING!!!
Hahaha Dressing gown mafia that so funny. Things are coming along and are looking great!
Also, I’m super excited about the purple flower possibilities!!! 💜
That's a clever tip
A vote to keep the corners! I agree Dan and his family are great. I wish them lots of success with their home and vlog too!
Corners off! It’ll mimic the shape of the fountain and be protected from cars driving around
Nancy Johnston I thought that too
Yes I was thinking the same!
True
I was yelling this at my screen!
Totally agree. They would both have 8 sides.
The peacocks sitting on the wall is so elegant ❤️
Absolutely love the humour in these volgs, Flouncing and "There's a sizest movement against the size of my box"! Hilarious.
Lots going on. Fun
This is a really productive as well as care free vlog as well very early La Land. Care free super productive episode ♥️♥️💝💝😀
Your videos make my day! They bring such joy and happiness to my life
Thank you so much, it was all so enjoyable, as always! 💛💖💛
Ian the master
Me and my friend Yvonne butler love watching your chateau thanks to you all x
Saw a documentary of Oxburgh Hall and thought the garden layout would suit Lalande - take a look.
Its an inspiration to watch the energy of everyone coming together and colliding. The collaboration is honestly hands down the best in the world. I think we all must need a cute Musketeer handyman in our lives like the one you have!!! ☺
I’d make a plaster mound piece for around the chandelier on the ceiling
SO MANY Wonderful things happening!!!! Such a great video!! So many nice people working together!
